MINDBLOWING! Musician's FIRST TIME REACTION to Spiritbox - The Mara Effect (Live)

Ойын-сауық

This is my reaction to Spiritbox - The Mara Effect. If you liked this video subscribe to the channel!
This song summarizes everything that I've heard about Spiritbox, nasty riffs, complex rhythmic patterns, warm and sweet melodies with charming ambient, well-developed transitions, maybe this is my favorite Spiritbox song with my favorite riff being the one that starts Part 2, thank you for recommending me this amazing song!

I will never get over that big vocal climb followed by Mike's slick arpeggios in that solo in Mara Effect part 1. Also as to the comment about the "radio recording" its a Spiritbox which is a radio device used by ghost hunters to try and communicate with the dead. It scans up and down the radio frequency range so you're hearing it passing through many signals quickly. I think them naming the band after the device really fits their sound

I count this as one song "The Mara effect" and to me it's their best and most complete song in showcasing their amazing skill both as musicians and songwriters. I listen to this every night when I go the bed, I know it's weird but I got Spiritbox on my speakers when I go to sleep. Great reaction and glad you did this in one take!

Thank you very much for your reaction to this great piece of art. I've been a metalhead for over thirty years and I've never had such an important connection as with Spiritbox. These guys are very complete artists, I can't listen to The Mara effect without crying, I appreciate that ... I love Spiritbox.

@@Temporal72 I also hope to see them live one day, I have been waiting for that moment for 3 years, but ... vivo en Argentina, estoy más lejos que vos de Canadá 😭😭😭, estos tipos son cosa seria; son reales y completos artistas... los amo. De nuevo, gracias por fijarte en ellos, está claro que sos músico profesional, sabés reconocer el talento.

I've clicked this video so fast as soon as it popped up! I was so excited to see your reaction and hear your words about these songs, and I really enjoyed as always! It's so much fun to see your joy about the details of the music, how you listen to it and especially that you really know to appreciate it. It just shows the love for music and everything about it. That's exaclty how I feel when listening to music, especially Spiritbox. Their sound just gets me, no matter how often I've already heard all their songs, it always feels refreshing and like a new experience everytime. I love this live video of The Mara Effect so much - it really creates a special atmosphere and incomparable feeling. I watch it regularly. I'm glad that you enjoyed it aswell! Sooo, I think you only have three songs left to check out and I really hope that you will continue this series of reactions. How about their song "Aphids" or "The Beauty of Suffering" next? I'm looking forward to it! :)

I have the feeling that you enjoy music in a similar way as me haha, is amazing the feeling that they can bring up in a live session like this one. Obviously! I'm going to end all the remaining Spiritbox songs that are left and is just the beginning of discovering amazing music 😎

I'm glad you found the time for the reaction! Easily my favorite song from Spiritbox -- and I do consider all three parts + the interlude to be "one song" haha, it's required. I've been looking forward to your reaction to this one! The way you heard the song was part one, which led to the first break. Then you heard the interlude titled "10:16" which led directly into part two (when the drummer hits the cymbals twice and the riffs get heavier). Then another break, which leads to part three. I love how they built the vibe of the song. Part one presents such a bright and positive image, and that carries over into the interlude/part two before the song's mood slowly devolves into a dark, atmospheric energy with awesome ambient sounds to match. By the time the song is in the final stretch we just get those amazing heavy vocals, and the entire tone of the song comes across as if it's completely embraced the madness that we've been following down the rabbit hole the whole time. Just an awesome trilogy of songs. If I remember correctly, "The Mara Effect" trilogy is about her struggles with sleep paralysis. I'm sure you can interpret the song in many ways though. 👍🤘

It's kind of interesting that nowadays this is one of the last songs people hear by them. I think this was the first song they wrote as Spiritbox, so this defined their sound pretty early on. This live session was my introduction to the band. Been in love with their music ever since. I love how excited you were during this whole thing. A really fun thing to do is trying to count the time signatures in this song. That riff from part 2 constantly moves from 4 to 6, and I'm fairly sure that most of part 3 can be counted as 12/8 + 13/8.

Yes, dude! As soon as I saw that you posted this video I couldn't click fast enough. Your reaction was mostly what I expected, but you spoke more about the instrumentals than her vocals, which is totally understandable! The musicianship and instrumentation on this is incredible. But, Courtney also deserves some major credit for providing some amazing melodies, dynamics and emotions. It's not easy to come up with such captivating vocals to this type of instrumental music. Thank you so much for doing this reaction! I look forward to seeing more!
