Strong men choose strong women because her strength is not perceived as a threat, rather a blessing for the relationship. A weak man becomes insecure and tends to belittle a strong woman in order to bring her down to his level instead of doing the inner work of raising himself to her level.

Truth. I left when he started picking on me for getting promoted. I worked so hard to get a new office away from the old toxic team. After 2 years, I made it. It was a miracle. His mocking increased so it was time to go. He had stayed in the same miserable place for 15 years.

I was in an abusive relationship for almost 10 years with a narcissistic man. In the beginning of the relationship, I was strong, independent, self-confident and by the end I was a shell of what I once was and didn’t even recognize myself anymore. He isolated me from my friends and family, manipulated my feelings, emotions. Abusive in every way- verbal, emotional, mental, physical, and yes sometimes sexually. He also cheated and I knew and still forgave him because I was so depressed and felt so ashamed of myself I felt I deserved all the terrible things that happened to me and he made me believe that as well. He wouldn’t leave me, because he wanted someone who he could control and do whatever he wanted on the side. So yes, he was with the person he “broke” and thought was weaker because he destroyed my mind. But thank goodness my mind healed and I left him.

I completely agree. Way more empowering, but that comes with age and experience. I don't believe there is a teenager or young adult who can let go of the need to be liked. I do believe the one, and probably only, true advantage to age is letting go of all the BS we all put up with to fit in and be liked. For my part, I don't give a crap, but that has been a long time coming

I'm sorry that happened to you. Some people get midlife crisis and go nuts. Men having these crises always blame their wives for everything under the sun. Its really his fault but he's doing projection. Men do projection much more often than women, by the way. So your ex is living a lie and believing you did everything wrong when it is obviously all his fault. Men sometimes come to their senses after a midlife crisis and realize it was their fault not their wife's, but most of them just stay with the (younger) woman they ran off with and act like teenagers. It's sad for them. I'm glad you are happy now and recovered from his idiocy. You deserved better.

My parents were so well intentioned and I knew that they loved me deeply. Alas they werr Edith and Archie Bunker. I was not a Gloria - I was more of a Meathead but I refused to be baited by and argue with my (Republicsn) father. Mom was very book smart but desperately needed attention and loyal friends when we left NYC. I knew as an only child where I had to draw the family mental intimacy line. At a certain point I knew that I really did have an understanding that was insightful but which I had to hold close to my chest. Doing so has often been lonely and painful, but I watch my personal energy flow and realize that many women relinquish their/our self esteem. Remember that our earth is at a critical point. I feel that it is not critical that all women bear children. The earth itself is starving for our feminine energy. The animals AND’plants need us. Children are our future but war, destruction and too much male confusion drags everyone down. Loving and strong intelligent men are desperately needed. In many ways the world is having a grand run of it. With hope and humility we will make wondrous things happen.

No interest in me, or just hanging out having fun. Nope. I feel like he acquired a wife, (with a good wage), with the aim of having a family. Checking off the boxes… Education, career, wife (also w $ career) House, family, yep, and then go play. But only occasionally with wife and kids. I’ve learned to live as if I am not married. I have no expectations of him. The person I married was my fantasy. It has disappeared like the puffy cloud that it was. I was a silly ninny thinking he loved me. Furthermore, Susan, I wholeheartedly believe that if he is choosing between two women, he never felt truly loved by either. Whether it's physically, emotionally- which is difficult for most women to accomplish- intellectually or otherwise. All men WANT to feel like a hero. Most women NEED to be the queen. No queen needs a hero. Heroes get princesses because they are more likely to find themselves in dire straits. So, in all reality, he goes back to his queen. Tyrannical or not. Both women eventually understand their role In the man's life. Moral of the story: DON'T FUCK AROUND WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S PARTNER. DON'T FUCK AROUND ON YOUR PARTNER.

Going no contact was a blessing even though he had other rabid flying monkeys to attack me for him. They were clueless even as their vile words fell from their lips what he had done to them. I’ve lived alone for several years and it is like heaven to be rid of that baggage. No idea if he’s even alive now. Praying he’s locked up somewhere

I don't buy the one about the man with two women. Men will usually stay with the one he was with first, and that woman is usually his wife. Sometimes a man (or a woman) will find a new partner before leaving the spouse so they won't have to be alone when they leave. This is common when a person wants a divorce. But if a man just wants to run around and have fun on the side, he will never leave his wife for the other woman. He will lie to the other woman and string her along for years but he will never leave. That's most married men who are having an affair. It has nothing to do with who has a weak or strong mind. He's just a weak-minded man who wants to play around on his wife. If a man is having a midlife crisis, however, he will blame every single thing that ever happened to him on his wife and leave her for a younger woman. When this happens he is not choosing a "strong minded" woman. He's just crazy and looking for a younger woman to make him feel younger and to feel good about himself. So no, a man doesn't care about weak or strong mind. If he's cheating, he is the one with the weak mind.

I have known many couples split because of cheating. The women rarely return to the husband even if if the new man does not work out. Men nearly always have their fling, the wife divorces him then within 18 months or so he's back, begging the wife for a second chance. Real men never "deal" with two women at once. They finish a relationship then move on.

Actually, there is truth to all of these reasons for the man staying with the woman. While I would initially be disappointed that he did not pick me, his needs may have wanted a mor subservient woman that increased his own sense of security and with whom he could freely express his emotions without feeling push-back from a stronger woman! Also, his psychological need for control enabled him to be in control wile exploring his sensitive nature more with a softer personality woman. His need to stand out in the relationship over his wife, while could be considered selfish and bullying by some, may have allowed this woman to feed his ego and be just what he needed! Also, depending on stage of pregnancy of his baby-mama and her dependency psychologically on him, he did the honorable thing , in my opinion; and, if he was the father or thought to be the father, he did have a responsibility to the woman for her well-being and that of the unborn child, physically and emotionally. And, from this standpoint, I would admire him for staying…irregardless to my feelings of disappointment…and, still love him that he cared. There are different ways to view this scenario. I would respect that he had an obligation; and, chose to honor it. If our relationship was meant to be, it would happen sooner or later! God’s plan will be done in any case. As for my disappointment, I would back off and give it some time and focus on myself and my activities, and pray about it. Perhaps, God has a better plan for me, and in due time, He will show me!

We are taught as women you must be married w a family by a certain age which pushes us to sometimes settle unhappily. And after having children, you realize how much more difficult it is to find a job and live alone independently while providing for your children. Because you want to spend more time with your children, but you have so many other responsibilities.... And you realize your partner doesn't even want to help you with them. Cooking, cleaning, all the care of children, is your responsibility, but you are supposed to work a full-time job as well. And take care of yourself, else people would blame you: he cheated on you because you are fat. Well, no. These men cheat because they are weak and a slave to their passions. Women have to become very strong beside such men. They basically have to do everything, and also endure their partner. Then it's better to be alone from the start and adopt a child knowing that you are alone. It's better than thinking that you are in this together, only to realize that your husband only participated in making the child. Study, have a good job, make as much money so you can have your own little apartment, be as independent and strong as you can, so when you have children, you won't have to learn this the hard way.

It's hard knowing you will be alone for the rest of your life at such a young age. I still mourn him every February (the month he died). So the crueler thing is to lose your true love young, not when you spent your whole life together. Decades alone without them is heartbreaking. At least I have our son. I believe confidence is walking in a room, knowing your self-worth, but also seeing the inherent worth & value of every other person. A gracious woman will come into a room wearing a smile. Pettiness & gossip are beneath her. She will touch hands & shoulders, her eyes warm & smiling; her mouth speaks gentle truths. She loves making others feel special & included. She is the opposite of haughty & pouty. As a result, all are drawn to her warmth & light. If she hears someone attempting to start petty drama, she steers it away by quickly changing the subject. If someone is stuck being negative, she will smile, but also excuse herself. Before she is finished, she will have blessed the gathering with positivity. Every person she has spoken with will feel better about himself or herself. She will leave the room, & after she does, every other person will feel better about themselves, but wish to be nearer to her. When she leaves the gathering, a bit of her light leaves too.

I totally disagree. How can you say that every room you walk into at least one person hates you?! Either your personality is 💩, or you have horribly negative energy/perhaps neg attitude as well. I am 41 soon to be 42 and I know I have less than five people that hate me. No doubt about that. I can’t think of a single one. And I make sure if there is any friction, that it gets sorted out amicably so that the other party and I can separate either having hashed out and dissolved whatever issue (not hatred- that’s a strong strong word) was causing conflict-OR we will move along in different directions but I’ve never ended a relationship with anyone (SO, friend, acquaintance, coworker, or otherwise on begrudged terms or feelings of animosity or ill will. To further enhance my point, my senior year at prom, I was voted Miss Personality by all of my class. And I was brand new that year and in the work program so I only had to go to school from 8:30-11:00 or something like that. It’s about your personality and the way you treat others, friendliness, courtesy, non-judgement, and having a sunny disposition. That’s a lot -a ton- of enemies if every room you ever walk into has 1+ haters on you. Only people like politicians and murderers and violent criminals etc have a bad rep like that!!!

Well from what I've seen..it all depends on the man n where he is in life at the time. If he is still a player or insecure with a woman other men desire, then he'll pick the weak minded one who will stay put or most other men don't desire. If he's settled or secure, he'll pick the strong one who can be strong where he's weak or who other men desire but he's confident she only wants him.

It is far more important to be coherent with yourself, to align your feelings with your mind and that spokes about you! Unfortunately, I am still here today, just trying to cope with anxiety and feeling like an overall failure in life. I can believe psychological studies support walking into a room “assuming everyone likes you” as communicating differently than walking into a room “with head held high, not caring if anyone likes you or not”. The former likely translates as confidence significantly more than the latter, which likely resonates as arrogance and indifference. Assuming everyone likes you doesn’t mean that once its made clear the opposite is closer to the truth, that the confident person would therefore begin to doubt self efficacy and self worth.
