I think the bird was so focused in the "spider" that it didn't notice the snake moving and probably thought it was a piece of twig or something.
Always remember the old saying when it comes to identifying coral snakes: "Red on black, venom lack. Red on yellow, deadly fellow."

The orchid mantis is inspiration for the Pokemon Lurantis for Pokemon Sun and Moon, except Lurantis is a plant disguised as an animal to catch its prey. You know, role-reversal.
Hey man that bird attacked that viper first, it bit him on the tail, and the viper was just defending himself.
Jess tells us she's a shapeshifting skrull at the beginning, then proceeds to shapeshift her wardrobe five times. Cool added touch to an already excellent documentary. Animalogic rules.

Thats not neccesarily mimicry so much as convergent adaptation. Dragonflies, Hummingbirds and Hummingbird Moths all evolved a similar flight strategy

Love the video but was disappointed not to see my favorite avian mimic: the Lyre Bird. I think any bird that can replicate the sound of a chainsaw deserves special notice. ETA: I love the archival footage. I love the stylised narration.

This is so interesting. Amazing
5:38 that’s a greater Mormon butterfly, not an eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly Edit: the appendage gives off a bad smell to ward off attackers. It puts off birds, reptiles, mantis, and spiders but surprisingly to humans it smells like pineapple. It’s called an osmeterium
The butterfly with the owl eyes is so cool and mesmerizing to see every time!
