Milwaukee M18 Hammer Drill Chuck and Screw Replacement 42-66-1006 05-88-0019 2704-20 18v 18 volt

Only a few days after my Milwaukee warranty had expired, my chuck failed. I called Milwaukee and they would not make any accommodations. They did however sent me a parts diagram so I could buy the parts and repair myself. This is how I repaired my drill. I had no idea what I was doing and I learned as I went... As you will see...

I like the way you are. Not to be afraid to admit that you are wrong. Your video teaches a lot of people how to replace the drill chucks.

Tha ks for the great tips. I recon you saved me from having an Airborne drill flying out the door. Could do the job on 5 minutes with no broken toolsor lost tempers. And the wife is happy!

i have same thing with a 3/4" version m12 hammer drill driver, bought i just a year ago. Used perhaps 3-4 times. Sometimes it rattles when i try to loosen it when it have not tightened it enough. Kind a weird after hardly any usage. Honder what ive been doing worng to get parts in there sort of grinded off. I it by drill power first bit, then tighten it by hand

Weird thing is the manual even states it. But it did not do this when i just got it and after first couple of uses "A ratcheting sound may be heard when the chuck is opened or closed. This noise is part of the locking feature, and does not indicate a problem with the chuck’s operation."

That's disappointing. They usually make a really quality product. I don't think you're doing anything wrong. If anything the bit would just spin. If it is under 5 years old, there's a no receipt required warranty.

@@kevinon4wheels Well the thing is, i dont have any issues with the bits. Perhaps i got loose one time, but that was when i tried to drill concrete and did not tighten it down enough. I think i pass by that shop and ask them. See what they think of it. Thank for the reply!

@@kevinon4wheels PS kinda weird they dont state in their manual about that counterclock screw. I already had find this and tried if this perhaps solved anything, it doesnt change anythong for me. I was also thinking because the manually actualyl states it can make a ratcheting sound it perhaps is normal. It seems to be a ratcheting lock mechanis after i did lots of research on these things. I do wonder why it did not do that in the beginning. so i guess a visite to the shop will get people to look at it which have experience

so basically what I learned here is - i'll try the breaker bar... And the drill can take a lot more abuse than I thought it could. So I guess that's good... Why that screw had to be that tight I will never know. I just don't want to break something or myself getting it off.
