I picked up 2 m12 6.0 batteries from Amazon for 19.95. They fit perfect and feel just like oem. Inside were all new Sanyo cells. Awesome deal.

I did not go through the comments to see if anyone has mentioned this but you might get different results if you tested with high drainage tools, an led light is one thing but running those knockoffs with something like a saw or impact might yield totally different results, the reason why is what you mentioned, the cells are not as good.

I want to say something about the 6.0 vs 8.0 High Output m18 batteries. The 6.0 is actually capable of higher amp draw than the 8.0. Meaning on extreme high demand tools (9" grinder, circ saw, table saw, ect) you may actually get better power/performance from the tool with the slightly smaller capacity battery. This is due to the cells in the battery being different. A battery with more capacity will almost always put out less safe max amps for a given form factor.

Very cool demo.. Aint a bad deal. Ps. Keep an eye on your dryer lint.. my furnace intake would get super clogged over time when my lint receptacle was next to my furnace. 😎

In the past, I’ve had so many issues with “off brand” batteries for tools & Tech(they are getting little better though); so I just by OEM now, unless not available for some items. I’ve found that it’s not to bad finding ppl selling batteries lower then msrp, even if little old, still think will work great. IMO, prefer OEM, as you know not getting used battery with a reset controller telling you it’s new when it’s only charging to 40% etc. But, long as doesn’t break the device, & works for you......that’s up to you; everyone has a preference 😁 Cheers✌🏼

Sam S Yep, have had that issue as well, with buying online. Sometimes the battery looks new, even in packaging, but it’s been refurbed & controller reset; making the battery gauge et al think it’s “brand new OEM” when in fact, it’s not. Unfortunately this happens, as it’s really easy to do & make money quickly. Thx for comment/reply. Have good one ✌🏼

Several points. I used another knock-off from Amazon in 18 volt and messed up both the sequential, and the 6-pack chargers. The batteries didn't last 2 yrs,and thankfully Milwaukee warrantied both chargers. 2nd pt that rocketlight will chop your fingers off,I call it "the guillotine ". I gave both m12 lights to my teenage co-worker. 12v is not up to the task of "working lights".

Hi Tool Boss, Hey, don't forget the after market 9.0ah battery can work good on the milwaukee m12 circular saw, hackzall and stubby impact...

Fingers crossed for a 9amph Milwaukee battery for the fuel version of the m12 vacuum or other high draw tools

Test it with the impact 12 volt or wrench see if it has good run time and power as well. That can be an interesting test.

I tested these with an actually battery capacity tester. The 9.0 waitleys came out to 8.0ah. A genuine 6.0 Milwaukee was 5.5ah on the same test. For 36 bucks I am very surprised.

1 amp. I have not tried higher discharge rates yet.

Without using my stubby 1/2 for a month, this 9v still holds 4 bars and it makes my stubby pretty strong

I believe the 12V batteries (both Milwaukee and the Knock off) have a lot less electronics. So I am not surprised that the knock off works so well.

Just less cells so simpler BMS. The 4V range is just a single 2500mAh 18650 cell with a thermistor

Just bought 2 of the knockoff 6ah's for 40 bucks to run lights and radio.

Good to know. I have a knock off 18V that was cheap but doesn’t last as long as my M18 of the same amp hour.

Wonder how the waitley 6.0 would do, if you wanted a slimmer profile at a good price

That right there is some things I would love for you to test and check into. I have regular m12 charger regular 18/12 charger and rapid 18/12 charger and you can charge a battery on say the regular then as soon as it fully charges put it on the rapid charge and it will turn red and continue to charge but pull it right back off and put it in the other charger it goes green saying fully charged again. Could be vise versa or whatever or even go from solo 12 charger to 18/12 charger and get the same thing. Does that mean there is something wrong with one of the chargers or is there a difference in the circuitry making one charge up a bit more than the other. This really aggravates me as I don’t want to overcharge and damage the battery just like I don’t want to undercharge and lose run time.

this 9Ah battery has only 2.55Ah x 9, so it is just about 7.5Ah. Heavy loading test will tell its capacity.

I think these use a crappier lithium cell type so you gotta not overheat them. Probably fine in a drill or something. But not in a saw or vacuum. If you run them and then let them cool down again between use - such as a screw driver would see - probably good. There was a guy in UK that took them apart and showed the crappier battery cells. That said - I’m gonna buy one and it should be fine for light usage.

I learned a long time ago buying the cheaper battery’s even with them breaking from falls on the clips they all work well

The battery is so big that the rapid charger would most likely not push the cells too hard even if it is a knock-off because doesn’t the rapid charger only pump about six amps into the m12 batteries?

@Sam S The Waitley brand use(d) Samsung, LG, Sony, and others. They seem to go with whatever they have on hand, as each of the four that I have (9.0, purchased around 1.5 years ago) has different cells. The QC varies from battery to battery, one of the batteries like to try to cook it self, two work perfectly, one twice as long, so just a roll of the dice.

@Sam S Please do consider that my packs are almost two years old at this point. I can't say if Waitley has changed practices since then. The only other thing I can speak on is the quality of the plastics is poor. all the retaining clips that hold the battery in the tool, break after normal use. and the casement is likely to crack if mishandled.

@@alexelam1127 from what I've heard, anything with a price that low and lithium battery is probably from old stock laptop batteries. I've heard they just part them out after so long. So I've heard anyways.

Excellent test, though the video is a bit long for my short attention span. I just got a Waitley 12V 6Ah battery to supplement my original Dewalt 12V 1.5Ah battery. I wanted to remove the cover of the Waitley, but the screws are down in a narrow, deeply recessed channel and I didn't have a tool that would fit. On the back of the Waitley along with the volts and amps is printed WTL120, not WTH watt hours or WTM watt minutes. Maybe watt lifetimes, watts per liter?

I'm just wondering tho I seen videos on fuel tools with these batteries vs milwaukees and the milwaukee battery gives the fuel tools alot more power (ft/lb loosening torque) I also wonder if it talks to the tool so when it gets to a certain temperature it shuts the tool off to save damaging the tool and battery?

Ive had genuine milwaukee and knockoff 6.0 batteries for a while, they work the same on majority of the tools except on the m12 fuel circular saw 2530-20. The genuine milwaukee tools would have the saw cut 2by all day. When i tested the knock-off brands, they melted internally. I still have them on my workbench lol

Yes but yours were not this brand waitley.. I guarantee that because this is a solid brand-project Farm.. search him he does test reviews and found these were the absolute best generic batteries made by this company Waitley... he found some generic batteries from other brands where decent and some were trash, with Waitley giving OEM performance..👍

There is a guy that took these apart and noted they use a different kind of lithium ion chemistry that is more susceptible to thermal runaway’s. But that’s probably not a real big deal on an impact wrench it gets used for 15/20 seconds and then gets to cool down a little bit. But for something like a saw that would not be the best. I’m gonna try one of these for just knocking around the drill. It’s not like I run it full out for twenty minutes straight.

I changed out the dying cells in a 7 year old M12 1.3Ah pack. Shorted it a couple of times, smoke ensued, ruined it. Tried again on another old pack and was much more careful, and got it refreshed to 3.0 with new Panasonic cells. So yes, you can but it’s not as easy as I thought it would be.

@@m60mgman dude. What panasonic cells did you use? There are no 3ah panasonic cells that have enough power to run a power tool. You need to look up what cells are meant for power tools and I assure you the ones you used are not powerful enough. You also won't get the full 3ah out of them if you use them with heavy drain tools. You need sony vtc6 3ah cells if you want capacity and power. They are rated at 25amps. You want cells with atleast 20amp output.

I had some "low cost" M18 batteries and they worked fine in the beginning. But after a while, they would not charge on the Milwaukee charger.

Check your batteries voltage with a multimeter and if the voltage is lower than 7.5v the milwaukee charger will not charge it due to a safety feature. You can get a bench top power supply or connect the terminal of the dead battery to a fully charged good battery and wait a few hours and it will bring the dead battery back to life and it will have enough voltage for the milwaukee charger to charge it again. If it doesn't work than one of your cells is dead and you are out of luck.

Im a dewalt guy myself but i do have 1 m12 tool that is the brushless rotary hammer. I see i will get more runtime but i wonder if i will get the same power, more, or less out of this battery. I no the bottom base wont sit flat but not too big a deal to me since i attached a dewalt belt hook to my drill that doesnt allow the base to sit flat with any battery. What do you think TOOL BOSS about a power difference? Edit: if it gets less power then a m12 6.0 that may negate any possible runtime difference as less power could decrease the runtime depending on the task Edit again: i do not see model rotary hammer 2416 listed on amazon listing as a compatible tool. Well see if manufacturer responds to my question on amazon

Waitley makes great batteries. It is a genuine 9ah battery also. Check out my m12 1.6 gallon shop vac video with it. I got just under 21 mins run time on high

If you open it, you will see how much every single battery has ah. Then you multiply it with number of batteries and you have the result. Wether its real 9h or 7ah. It would be really cool, cuz then all makita and dewalt 18v users would know if waitley really puts 9ah into the battery housing. Because in european amazon those 9ah 18v waitley cost the same as the original 6ah makita/dewalt battery

Should have done a recharge time difference on the 9 and 6ah

In the m12 rocket light with a 6ah I have gotten 20 minutes shy of 4 hours every time I have used it with a 6ah @Tool Boss

To really test if it was a 9ah battery you should've tested power output (wattage output)...you just tested capacity...more batteries equates to more capacity = higher run time...testing for TORQUE would've showed you if it was a TRUE 9ah battery...9amps/hr should give more electrical current per hour increasing torque in a brushless motor.

Longevity of the battery would be only concern tho you can still buy 2 of those for less than the genuine 6.0

Well they do run deals on 6.0ah quite often ...the appeal of this battery is it's 9.0ah .. milwaukee don't have a 9.0ah ...I was pretty surprised how compact and light it was to be honest...I'm sure milwaukee will have a 9.0ah possibly a 12.0ah with some higher capacity batteries at some point 👍

TOOL BOSS Have you heard any rumors about higher capacity M12 batteries? M18 had to bump up to larger sized cells to get 4Ah per cell, but I can’t see how that would be possible with the M12 battery/handle design.

@@toolboss8410 Try to do some charge and discharge cycles of that 9.0 Batteries when they are charged and discharged and cycled used in the order they have become charged, it can give one an idea the longevity to where they peak in overall capacitance, where it levels off, and then how gradual the loss of overall charge capacity over time truly begins.

@@MrRobRizzle there is another youtube channel that discussed a patent regarding high output M12 batteries using 21700 cells. apparently the patent detailed the use of both 18650s in the stem and 21700 in the bottom base of the battery. curious to hear more about that and if that will lead to a sell off on current XC M12s

Nothing to really test it against ..unless I just do a run test and Dewalt don't really have a 12v tool to run a time test on efficiently

The run time test on a light is ok. But torture it on that stubby impact a bit and see what kind of "real" performance it has. Will it the battery overheat like a real Milwaukee battery when used in a high demand situation? What's its recharge time like when dead? Hows it "hot" recharge time like? How many years will this battery keep up its performance? Try dropping it on the concrete floor. We all drop out tools! It happens! Will this thing smash to pieces where the Milwaukee batteries are pretty robust in this manner?

The m12 platform will never get 21700 cells in it. The reason? Because the way the batteryvhooks up to the tool. The batteries have 3 cells bunched together that go inside the handle of the tool and only 3 18650 cells will fit. 21700 cells are too fat. The reason they call 18650 what it is is because it's the dimension of the cell. 18 means 18mm in diameter and 650 means 65mm long. So a 21700 cell is 21mm in diameter and 70mm long. So it will never work.

@@randybobandy9828 Good point... but they don't have to put 3 21700 vertically into the handle portion, couldn't they just put one or two and still shape the plastic in the same triangle form (it would have some spare room of course) and leave the rest of the cells in the pack ( bottom)? This would still make the bottom a little bigger (longer) but it could work.. highly unlikely though like you said and also don't think many people know what the numbers stand for on the cells .. simply put-the dimensions... But yes they've kind of designed these m12nbatteries the part that goes into the handle itself) around the 18650 cell haven't they?

They don’t need to state Wh as they already state 9Ah so with a nominal voltage of 12V, then 9Ah = 108Wh Milwaukee stating that a 6Ah 12V battery is 72Wh is redundant info (even though their nominal voltage is only 11.1V)

@@toolboss8410 - yes. I understand that also. You seem to be missing my point. You seem to suggesting that by leaving off Wh hour they were *trying* to be misleading. How? They've provided the other two variables - 9Ah and 12V. The fact that they can say whatever they want does not change the fact that one set of units is easily calculated from the other. They *could* have put whatever they wanted on the Ah rating too! The cells themselves inside will contain an Ah rating and a voltage - direct from reputable manufacturers - simply because Wh is redundant information. Voltage and (claimed) Ah rating is provided. And while we are on that point - the 72Wh from Milwaukee themselves is "claiming whatever they want". They have 3 cells at 3.7V each - that is 11.1V. If it is *truly* a 6Ah battery, then the Wh is 66.6W and *not* their claimed 72Wh - it cuts both ways. Perhaps the reason the "knock off" chose to leave this data off? If they told the truth, it would be a lower equivalent number to Milwaukee's claim of 72Wh - which is false.

Do you recommend this knock off or not?

WHat actual cells are in the packs? That would tell you what you're actually getting.

I don't like using these aftermarket batteries with my expensive cordless tools. Don't like the possibility of something going wrong. Use a renegade battery; tool gets toasted; go to collect on the warranty; Milwaukee says: sorry pal...

ok test but you need to do high load test. You proved that battery has a 9Ah of capacity. But there are many things that determine the quality of the battery. The real test of the battery comes under load and how often you charge it. Read some articles/videos from people who race RC cars or planes and you will get a true picture of how much range in quality there is with cheap batteries. Most people ruin there batteries because they are not stored properly. Its the infrequent user who often wrecks his lithium because they have this idea stuck in there head that a lithium should be stored fully charged. Your right its a cheap battery and who cares if it doesn't last as long but I am one that wants my tools to work when I use them. Having the battery go dead 15 minutes after I start using the tool doesn't cut it with me. That said your video was good. I liked it. Maybe you can take it farther with your testing

Watt hours is simple to calculate. You multiply the nominal voltage of the pack which is 12v and multiply it by the amp hour rating. 12v x 6ah = 72wh. 12v x 9ah = 108wh. Also milwaukee is overeating their m12 watt hours. Its really 11.1v nominal so a 6ah battery is only 66.6wh.
