Milo cocker spaniel- fully clipped coat

This gorgeous boys owner wants him clipped all over. Yes, I know cockers shouldn’t ideally be clipped as it causes ‘coat funk’ but we as groomers are paid to groom the dog as the owner wishes, and this is exactly how the owner wants this boy clipped.

My family had a golden cocker spaniel when I was a kid. They have such a sweet nature and they're so much fun.

Fine, he’s so patient lovely Cocker…but please cut Cockers fur with Scissors and trim it. Clippers make curly Coats. We need it smooth and silky, isn’t it? 🍀

I agree, cutting cockers coat can cause ‘coat funk’ and it never grows back the same. But I have to cut and style the dog as the owner requires, and in this case the owner wants her dog cut all over 😉

@@Miongroominghow do I tell me groomer I want them to cut my cocker with scissors? I also want my cocker to stay fluffy and long, but not with clippers. What exactly should I say?

@@patriciarunge6607 just say to your groomer exactly what you have said to me here. Us groomers are more than happy to work with clients to groom your dogs in whatever way you want- after all your the one paying us 😉

Hello, this is beautiful grooming on that gorgious Cocker Spaniel. Not too short of a cut, just the right length and very clean cut! I am not a professional groomer but I would like to groom my own Cocker, so could you let me know which blade you used on your clipper? Thank you very much for this great video!

Thankyou for the comment 😊 For this cocker I’m using a #10 blade with a #8 comb attachment. The comb attachments I use are the wahl steel ones. They are numbered 1-8 and I use them everyday on every breed of dog, I highly recommend them!

@@Miongrooming Thank you for your quick reply! Could you tell me what is the cut length with the #8 comb attachment, in inches or milimeters? I understand the #10 blade but the numbers of the comb attachments are a little bit confusing to me. Thank you!
Is it ok to clip against the grain of the hair.. i always thought it should be the other direction (with the direction of theway the hair falls).. but still a beautiful ✂️

Thankyou for your comment 😊 I used a #30 blade with a #9 comb attachment so it leaves the coat 1.5 inches all over

Why shouldn’t he be tied up? You want him to fall off the table & brake his leg instead?? Yea that makes sense
Sorry, no cocker should look like that! Trimming does not mean working with clippers. this destroys the entire fur structure!

Yes I know clipping the coat ruins it’s structure, I’m a professional groomer hence I know these things 🤷♀️ BUT if we as groomers declined to groom the dogs how the clients want them, then I guess we would be very slack with business.
