I live in Houston now, but originally from Norway. in Norway they would cut all trees and vegetation close to power lines continuously to avoid these outcomes after storms. I have noticed that this is not done here and a lot of what is happening here in Houston is because of bad infrastructure and bad contractors who do not build stuff to last.
Trees are a big problem close to electrical lines and homes.

Hate to tell you this, but the gasoline stations need electricity for the gas pumps. And they are all currently defunct.

I have solar panels, maybe you can get them for your electric vehicles.
It was actually a very pleasant day here today... No power, but with a generator and a window ac unit for cooling the house its just not that bad. Just saying, people need to be better prepared if you want to live near the Gulf Coast of Texas.
