To all the haters - Rachel’s parents went bankrupt when she was 2 months old. My family was below the national poverty line until I was 15. I too am a net worth millionaire, my Dad too taught me financial principles. For the record my university was not paid for (and I dropped out). Her story is not special. She had the discipline to act out financial wisdom. If it’s not you, teach your kids!!!

She didnt' live in poverty though, her only bad memory is not eating out on Sunday's with other church people. They bought at consign or on sale and her Mom clipped coupons. I did all that but my husband didn't have the earning potential of Dave, being a cop, but that's fine. She admits by middle/high school, they were fine, he saved for 3 full state tuitions, his wife NEVER worked and still doesn't, except at home (and I'm sure they have help) and he has many toys he can afford. There's nothing to be ashamed of, but Dave's short lived poverty didn't effect them the way real poverty does most of America.

It's good to see you both together on both your shows. I love to see you both becoming self made millionaires. Sure, Rachel had a better starting point with no debt. That doesn't negate her accomplishments. Her dad fathered and mentored her AND she was teachable. I want to set my kids up for success just like Ramsey did. But, the bottom line is that some adults are NOT teachable. Be more like Rachel. George is also successful because he followed Ramsey's teachings AND he is teachable. Instead of hating on these 2, BECOME TEACHABLE! ❤

Well she went from college into a well paid job and marriage with a good man who made a good income. Her dad told his children if they "misbehaved" they were out of the work and will. So it is a choice, but how many would do that? He gives her a lot of stuff for her children, might have helped with house, but they will never want as long as they stay good in his mind.

@@workinprogress-ye5or So what you're saying is she got with Dave Ramsey's program (instead of going her own way) and prospered? Last time I checked ANYONE can do the program... I am, and they don't know me from Adam but it's working. The job I have now I got because the person that pushed to hire me knew I did good work. I'm guessing if Rachael's dad thought she didn't do good work he wouldn't have hired her. Hard work beats a head start if the head start doesn't work hard. EVERY time I read the book "The tortoise and the hare." the tortoise wins... every single time. BTW, George, the other millionaire in the car? It’s hard to relate though when you can’t . George gets paid well and he deserves his perks. John admits that too. Debt free is great at any salary but 6 figures or more is harder to relate too. Rachel will never have to worry as long as she’s good with parents. Sister has off camera job and son is president. All live on million dollar homes or multimillion. Not quite like the callers. Do people nowadays just throw around the term "out of touch" to describe people who got ahead regardless of how their success was achieved? Like Rachel was born into a rich family. Is it her fault that others aren't? Just listen to the video. She acknowledged she was ahead. And you don't know what challenges she's had. George and Jade weren't well off to begin with. Is it your fault that you have 100k student loans? Is it your fault you got a 20k car loan? Why don't you judge yourself instead of others, maybe you'll get ahead in your finances too. These videos are mostly just for entertainment, don't let it affect you to a point you need to call someone out of touch just because theyre labeled "millionaires". If anything whoever has excessive student loans and car loans are out of touch from the reality of responsible finance.

YES. The media told them they were poor and oppressed. It's sad.

Yes, people want to blame others for their failures to help cope that they themselves are to blame. Its sad but its the truth

Rachel was a newborn when Dave went bankrupt and creditors were calling. By the time Rachel went to college, Dave had turned his life around and built up a good net worth. He was as able to pay for all three of his kids' college.

People also like to say “I did it, so can you” but the circumstances are completely different. It’s important to stay humble or learn how to be humble. I’ve met so many people that come from money and don’t have a clue how to actually make something work from scratch…But they are quick to judge. I think that’s where the frustration comes from. and no, I don’t live off credit cards, I don’t have car payments, and I’m paying extra on my student loans.

You're arguing against points nobody has made. Yes she's out of touch. Yes it's not relatable. And yes it matters. No matter how much you want to white knight for her.

That is not a true statement. I grew up poor. I always respected my parents because my dad did everything possible to ensure that my mother was able to be home with us during our education years. My parents never taught us anything about money other than to tell us to save for emergencies. A lot of it is about choices. My wife and I have been diligent about saving. Throughout our 27 years of marriage we have faced different economic crisis. We were prepared for those because we chose to save and live below our means. Above all else, we have given a minimum of 10% of our income to the Lord’s work. We do this with a willing spirit, and not out of coercion. Though Rachel was raised by the Ramsey,’s it was still her choice as an adult to make wise decisions about money.

I went to a Total Money Makeover event back between 2005-2007 timeframe and she was at the event. She was just a teenager at the time, acne and all (sorry Rachael) and it's so wonderful to see her still involved and so passionate. She has worked hard, for many years and her personality is always so refreshing. Loved. the video!
