I wouldn’t say I’m hyped yet, but from playing the demo a few times I am genuinely intrigued, graphics are the only real gripe I have with the game rn.

Graphics can be fixed with a mod. I'm sure that will come. Gameplay is where it's at. I enjoyed the original Civ too, on 320x240 :-P

@@brycentuell7109 I played some more too the past week. 60 turns is too short to see how the game will go in the later stages, but so far I find some really interesting combos. I really like wild hunters for example, more that I know how to use those bow hunters. The only issue I really have is that military XP is too easy to get, while for example explorer XP is really hard to get if you're unlucky with scouts.

I've played the demo and I am enjoying it. The graphics and the automatic battles really don't bother me at all. This game has way more roleplaying potential than Civ 6.

Actually I'm hoping this game is willing to break norms for historic 4x games set by civ. The entire alternative history aspect is what's got me interested !

It is both interesting and frustrating to watch you play Millennia. At the end of the video you were on turn 93. That is impossible for any of us playing the demo. Made me jealous. But also made me excited to someday play past turn 60.

Not worried about the graphics. The game looks fine and the demo is very interesting.

As I see a turn past 60, my heart breaks, since I'm still demo limited.

Yeah... I can share beyond the demo turn limit (but I'm not allowed to show anything beyond the ages in the demo at the moment). A shame the demo wasn't extended out to around turn 100.

I'm really looking forward to this game, demo is quite nice.

I think developers might've made a small mistake with limiting playthrough to turn 60, as from my point of view, the balancing aspect of turning resources into experience starts about then and players are not able to experience it properly, hence the comments about game being shallow compared to civ.

You are right. I found it a clone of civ 6 and human kind pre-turn 60. but it is jarring to see Russia or Sweden as a nation in pre historic periods

I completely agree. 80-100 turns feels like it would've been a better fit to me for this demo.

@@JumboPixel That aside, I adore their ideas and can't get enough of the demo. Everything scales and works so well when you get the hang of it. It's pure joy, especially when you get some amazing innovation bonus as a cherry on top, like unlocking hoplites :D

I’m liking the demo, but am probably as far as I can really go with that short a turn limit. Definitely looking forward to the main game itself

There's quite a bit here to like after playing the demo. The tile improvements and some of the mechanics are very good. The problem is the presentation is beyond bad. The presentation needs at least some improvements across the board...

This game has good bones and is enjoyable to play. Once the performance issues get improved and certain game aspects get expanded, this is going to be a great title.

Everything here looks great and more importantly, the gameplay feels infected with the "just one more turn" virus. I think the battles look nice, even though probably it's the least looking feature of the game. The only thing which I find weird, it's the lack of leaders when interacting with other civs, but then again I dislike how CIV VI focused so much on them; so perhaps a game where they are relegated to names only, is just what I need.

Does the naturalist national spirit ability actually work at all? Or is it just not good? I like it for theme/aesthetic reasons, but I lost every game with it so far either through wars or the age of plague wiping out my whole economy.

You forgot to mention the happiness mechanic. If you grow your population too fast and don’t keep any military units in your cities, they can rebel and turn back into vassal cities. This can also happen to your capital, which can be devastating if you don’t pay attention

I really hope they will and can improve the graphical presentation. There is so much under the hood, like the rebellions, that COULD make this game so special.

All the youtubers I've seen are using that build. The rules they have are that they can play as much as they want, but they can't show any content past age III

is this game worth a buy?

tried the demo a bit and had to stop because i really didn't enjoy the game pace and the UX is really bad funny enough my biggest concern with its combat was elevated as i found that to be not bad, it fits the overall game design well, and i like the various points systems as well as the tile improvement system a future version might better suit my taste, which i think is probably not popular because i do mod the game pace in Humankind and civ games as well 😓

How do you go back an age to research a tech? Once I go to Bronze age there's no way to go back to the Stone Age screen. Same with Iron. So I'm stuck with no mines, or with no way to go onto water.

Go to the tech screen move your mouse to left edge of the screen. It auto scrolls back one age.

Very interesting in a civ game made by paradox. Wish the graphics looked good tho

I just realize why this game looks like a mobile game: The icons look like iPhone thumbnails. Those squares with rounded vertexes. The close up human faces with mouths agape. The generic landscape images. It all reminds me of those western gacha games like Raid shadow legends.

I feel dumb. I play tons of strategy games and have just lost my first three games of millennia on the easiest difficulty. AI kept triggering the age of plague and declaring war on me at the same time. I couldn't support a big enough army to win said wars in any of my playthroughs because I didn't have enough wealth coming in.

1) Will there be free play, or only company? 2) Will there be a Kievan Rus faction? Thank you

The only thing a civ does is select which set of historical city names the game uses and what symbol and name it refers you by.

There is already Russia in game, it would've been strange to add another one out of all countries

The game, for me, is still in early development. You picked God-King Dynasty and in your game its already 740 BCE. Hmm still no pyramids? What I want to say is that the game moves to fast... Also about the upgraded production. 1 clay pit means = 1 production etc. 1 kiln means 2 production. but you lose the 1 production from the clay pit. So how is that an upgrade? you have 2 production at the end. you could just build another clay pit and you would end with 2 production aswell. especially when you think that you would need the space maybe for more important things like farms, housing etc.

Tried the demo yesterday, as a big 4x fan, but it just felt very formulaic and bland, especially after recently playing The Old World again

i'm okay with the graphics if it's not randomly lagging every 5 minutes or so lol, but the UI/UX is really HORRIBLE

Gameplay looks promising. I just wish graphics, art and battle system are on Humankind level. After Humankind even civ 6 look bland and dated.

I mean the graphics are fixable. But I'm dang glad my Stellaris does not look like this 😅

This game makes me hunger for civ VII more than ever. The graphics are shameful for any modern game.

Got the hang of it quick enough and looks like this game might supersede Civ 6. As for Graphics? Meh

I have to agree with a lot of people here looks and feels like a mobile game.. Maybe it was originally going to be a mobile and they decided to release for pc for a cash grab who knows but yeah with Ara looking great and humankind out already this is looking like a nah I'll pass until it is maybe fleshed out in a couple of yrs... And on a steam bundle sale 😊
