    Leyline of the Void doesn't work against Nexus of Fate unless the opponent makes a mistake. When it would go to the graveyard, there are two replacement effects (exile and shuffle) and if they apply the shuffle one first, it goes back into the library like normal. They would have to either choose to let it be exiled or have Auto Choose Replacement Effects turned on and it make the wrong choice for them.

    Those aren't even the main concern. Breach Storm and Dredge Zombies is pretty popular right now. Going to see a lot of Breach Storm now that there have been a few videos about it and it won a tourney...this deck just turns their combo into turbo drive unless you hit all their Breaches. I love mill, but yeah you need to main deck some sort of graveyard hate to make this deck competitive.

  • @tomb5353

    @tomb5353

    6 ай бұрын

    @@TsahayluFa I was trying to figure that out, too... I don't think there was any way for the opponent to win. The opponent had zero cards in their deck, it was their second main phase, and we had only seen Ugin the Spirit Dragon as a way to deal direct damage with Crim at 4 life. Crim could pass the turn and the opponent was guaranteed to lose in their next draw step. Even with two Lembases (Lembae?) in play they couldn't loop Lembas to live forever--their draw step will still get them. (Also, it appears that they only play one Lembas.) Casting Ulamog or Ugin to destroy/exile the crab before combat wouldn't have worked either since Crim could cast two Fatal Pushes to kill both attacking creatures. I think the opponent realized the game was lost was just going out on their own terms.

    I think I prefer 4 counterspell and 2 memory lapse. It's decent for dealing with threats, but counterspell does it better. Memory lapse needs an additional effect to permanently deal with the spell, one that counteracts your game plan. Counterspell just says, "do not pass go"

    Mill in a TCG means putting cards from the top of the deck into the graveyard. It's named after an MTG card called Millstone that did this. "Mill decks" are usually decks that try to exhaust their opponent's deck of cards and win by emptying their library.

  • @GoliathGTX

    @GoliathGTX

    6 ай бұрын

    In MTG, a lot of archetypes earn their name from the first card that does a specific effect. Mill get its name from Millstone (which you can search it up on google to see its effect) and the objective of a mill deck is to "deck out" the opponent by putting his cards from library into graveyard (usually) with spells. The opponent loses if he cannot draw a card (due to empty library) in the draw step. Some other games like HS uses "mill" for the archetype with the same gameplan as well, it's a commonly used term nowaday. The controls you described in MTG terms are like this: infinite draw = if your plan is to infinite draw into some sort of combo to finish the game, that's a COMBO deck in MTG. Searchers = The term is TUTOR for MTG, named after Demonic Tutor. Tutor cards let you search your library for specific cards you'd choose. Board control = That's just a generic CONTROL deck. Opponent's hand control = In MTG, the archetype or approach is known as HAND DESTRUCTION.
