Mill Creek Neighborhood | Living St. Louis
Living St. Louis producer Jim Kirchherr looks back at the area between Union Station and Grand which used to be known as the Mill Creek neighborhood. After World War II, people moved out of the urban city to the suburbs and bulldozers demolished many buildings in the area-leaving Mill Creek deserted.

Before Laclede Town came to the vacant land, it was the spot for the greatest show on earth, the ( Royal American Midway). When it came to town it seems like it was there forever.
Wonderful information! I never knew about "Mill Creek" Neighborhood!! We're the fathers and mothers in the homes; with the children? Also, did the fathers have employment?

We have pretty much everything north of Delmar. I am still waiting for the artist colonies, or anything for that matter, to arrive.
So sad, I wish StL wouldn’t have knocked down so many historic buildings :/

We stay in a old 4 bedroom rehabbed house built in 1887 located in the footprint of the new NGA west building. We are preparing ourselves for the fight of our lives to get the most for our home, because when they are ready to start on their redesigning plan in the area around it "soon I might add", our old homes are not included. The board of Alderman seen to it that we would not be a part of the development by blighting the area

@@sthpac6910 Hey, I just reread your comment. I misunderstood the first time, I thought you were saying they were going to save your historic home from being torn down for 'development'. After my second read I realized you were saying they ARE going to tear it down?! I hope not, that would be a terrible mistake. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you in your fight!

@@bingbongmcgee Too trrue. Love that we had a 91 acre parking lot there for almost 3 decades. At least its a national park now.
THE CITY WOULD HAVE TORN DOWN LAFAYETTE SQUARE. TOO !
Remember this neighborhood well.
Always wanted to know where we stayed
For want of a freeway, a neighborhood was lost…
