On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
I really enjoy diving into history to find out how women went about their beauty and dressing rituals in days past. Vintage and history-themed videos are my little passion project.

This is perfect because I can finally stop worrying the whole day about whether I parted my hair evenly and people are judging 🙃

@@opalfishsparklequasar8663 A senior came up to me at church and said "I'm always so happy to see your hair! It makes me realize my hair doesn't have to be perfect, either." Oof. There's always that one who does care. The hard part is learning not to live for that person's approval.

A) you can always do a deliberately uneven parting. B) you can use a hand mirror to check your part before you braid to see that it's even.
The crossed braids are a look themselves

Okay this looks WAY easier than all the other methods I’ve seen. I am definitely going to try this. You have no idea how refreshing it is to see a tutorial that works for long hair and doesn’t have 30 steps in it. Can’t wait for try it!
Why did I not think of this before. Thank you. Tomorrow is sorted.
I've wanted to find a neat and tidy hairstyle for everyday wear and for housework that wasn't 50 steps or stupid messy looking. This is such an awesome style I'm going to try in the morning ☺️
My great grandmother wore her hair like this and I've never been able to figure it out. Thank you
This is a game-changer! I also do not like the parting in the back, and I can never get the bumps near your ears (from the braids being folded upwards) to look even. This solves all of those issues

I wear 14th to 17th century renaissance garments every day but I have thin long hair and struggle with finding period hair styles that look good on me, as parting my hair looks awful. This is an amazing alternative and I use this style all the time now! 🧡 Thank you so much! I love your videos, your always a great inspiration.
Damn, why did I have to cut off all of my hair during quarantine

I've been considering whether to cut my hair shorter but I always decide against it because I know I'll regret it when I can't do certain hairstyles
I will definitely try this. My hair is hip length so when I usually do milkmaid braids I end up looking more like Cersei Lannister than some fresh danced girl coming out of a barn with the family’s daily portion of milk. I hope this works!

My hair is now below my butt and I don't now how to make the braids stay up on my head when I try milkmaid braids because they are too heavy😭
@FridaCrescencia
4 жыл бұрын
@@lisaj1622 you could try putting a thin ribbon through a tapestry needle and carefully sew them on (obviously not through the skin but only through the hair). It´s an antique/medieval way of securing your hair and works very well on heavy braids in my experience. I know that I had seen this technique on youtube, but don´t know how it´s called anymore, so i can´t lead you towards tutorials sadly.

@Lisa J I tried and they slid down my head. I do like this technique though because it keeps a lot of the bulk towards the back of my head. I’m definitely going to try the ribbon though. Hopefully that works.

@FridaCrescencia I never would have thought of that so thank you for the tip! I have always loved the look of ribbon weaving through braids but had never thought of the practical reasons for it. I’m definitely going to try it.
Thank you, from a "fellow flat-headed lady"! It's always a struggle when you think you've mastered a cute hairstyle, then you look at it from the side and realise it isn't so cute after all, hahaha :D
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who dislikes the look of a parting in the back! At the front is fine but the back looks a bit unfinished to me with the parting visible. I do it this way too and it's a little change that makes it look a lot better in my opinion.
@meinkanta

I don’t think this looks any better (personally). I don’t like the big bump at the base of the braids which you don’t get if they start on the side because you can smooth it over. Maybe that could be remedied with more careful placement.

I have such trouble parting my hair evenly in the back, so this is helpful to avoid a messy part too lol
There's also another way to do this (if a little more complicated)! Basically, you make a Dutch braid that wraps all the way around your head, picking up all the hair as you go. You start behind one ear, braid up to the forehead, then down and around. Once you make it back to the ear, you wrap the length of the braid on top of the messy bit, and pin it to the top of your head! I've never mastered it, but when you know what you're doing, it looks great. 😂

I don't know why I've never done this. It's such a logical fix. Thanks for spiffing up my braids!
This is genius. I’ve been doing milkmaid braids forever and I’m definitely going to adopt this version.
You just changed the game. I've never worn milk maid braids out because I hate the back parting. You win a cookie! 🍪
I absolutely love this look with the fringe bang. So adorable
I have an undercut and this method might help me avoid that weird gap that I get when I attempt to do this style normally. Thank you for making this video!
I alway did that, when my hair was longer, never called them Milkmaid braids though, but "fake crown braid". Now that my hair is just below shoulder lenght I tried Milkmaid braids for the first time ever because my hair doesn't reach around anymore. So this is unfortunately not an option for me at the moment. But it sure looks pretty! :D

Flat headed lady who doesn't like hard parts! I love how you did these!
I can do this...!!! I've done this hairstyle now! I think your video will change my life positively, Loepsie. This is the first hairstyle of this kind, that I can do: easy, comfy, nice, not tight, neck and face are exposed. I also can do nice bun, but its tightness irritates my scalp. Thank you!!! 💐
a single twist and it looks so much nicer! love it
I like that you can see the braid better this way! I'll definitely try it!
This was actually helpful. I never thought of that.
Thank you for this tutorial. I had struggled with this updo, you show it clearly. From 2 days im wearing it and love it ❤
omg can i just say this is genius 😱 also the sole reason im growing my hair is because i want to play with beautiful hair styles like this!
It looks very sweet. Finaly I know the german name for it: Gredlfrisur. An 82 year old woman told me they wore this hairstyle as she was a child. Such a good idea to avoid the parting! I must try it!
I love the easiest way to braid ,yours when to keep simple. I want to try . Thank you for sharing 🙂
This is so simple, and yet brilliant! I never even thought of doing it like this. I definitely will wear this tomorrow!
You make the hairstyle look gorgeous. Thank you for sharing the neat idea.
GENIUS. it also avoids the awkward bump in your braid when you braid downwards and flip up!
Ik probeer zoiets soortgelijks al twee uur voor elkaar te krijgen, en jouw tutorial is de beste tot nu toe! De andere kant op vlechten maakt echt een verschil!
Simple, polished, and pretty. Can't wait to try this!
Totally genius! I love this way! I'm going to try it. Thank you! I've always loved the milkmaid braid, but for years I've had issues with it!
This is BRILLIANT. I wear this style all the time and was always bothered by the back. Thank you for this!!
Girl you are a life saver I was looking for a solution for ages Thank you 😍
Yeaaaah, I have long thin hair and I really don't like it when my scalp show off when I style them! Thank you for this video, I can become reconciled with milk braids then. :D
I tried this hairstyle yesterday and being this early to this vid made me happy ^^
Thank you -I gave up on this hairstyle years ago. but now You have shown me how to do it.
Love how your bangs are cut. Thanks for sharing.
Much cleaner way to do this hairstyle - thank you for sharing. Looks very nice.
This is revolutionary! Thank you so much!!!!
Quick and easy tutorial. I hate it when I have a parting down the back. Love your channel.
Wow! So much better that the way that I made! I will adopt this way. Thanks from Brazil.
another technique is to split your hair in four, cross the two top sections and then braid as you normally do
GENIUS! Such a simple solution. Love it!
Finally! I found Shinoa Hiiragi's hair style! Ty! I've been looking for Shinoa Hiiragi's hair style tutorial but it's hard to find one.. And then I accidentally click this vid and I'm thankfull that I clicked it. Lol! Tysm! 😊😀
New favorite way to do milkmaid braids!
To me the parting feels more "authentic" but I love this for more dressed up occasions.
Recently I have been interested with historical hairstyles. When I first saw the milkmaid braid I didn't like the part in the back so this tutorial was perfect for me. I did the hairstyle on myself as I was watching the video and I love it. Thank you so much
This is genius, I don't know how I didn't know about this all my life, thank you so much!
GENIUS!! Such a great tip and looks waaaay better!
This is brilliant and one of my favorite styles you've done! It will help my scalp not burn in the sun! Thank you!
LOVE LOVE LOVE! I have a flat head and bangs so I wasn’t how to make milkmaid braiding work. The other tutorials made me look like hot flat head mess!! This is the easiest non-complicated tutorial for milkmaid braids ! I even watched a couple ads for you. Thank you so much

This has changed my hair game. I have long hair but work with kids in a humid environment and doing my hair this way with a thin scarf braided through and knotted on top holds it up all day with only a few pins. THANKS!!!
THIS IS SO OBVIOUS AND SUCH A GREAT IDEA. I can't believe how easy it was and how much better it looks. Thank you!
Mind blown. Super cute. Super easy. I am using this.
I've mastered the middle parted heidi braid way and don't know why you knock it so hard. It's so cute and classic! I was still excited to try this, but I gave it a go, and I'll be sticking to the way that you seem to have disdain for lol.
Thank you! I've been watching your videos for just a few weeks and I really like your tutorials. They're calm and simple, easy to follow. I've got hair similar to yours, with a bit more length that I have no clue what to do with. I've been wearing it plaited for decades and only just now I'm starting to actually style it. I'd been struggling with this hairstyle, so you uploaded this at the right time for me!
You are so creative Lucy! Thanks for the video! Much love from Chile
Oh...haha. I have spent years trying to work out how to deal with the extra plaits at the top...thinking it was something complicated like a French plait and then you just clipped them underneath. Now I will try this 😊. Thank You.
Thank you for this video. The style definitely looks more put together, especially the back of the head. No parting in the back. Of course, this really makes sense. I enjoyed this tutorial a lot. You’re awesome 💕
Wow! I really had no idea how you were going to pull this off until you started the second braid. So smart!
I never thought ANY hair style could actually look beautiful on me 🥹 ty for the tut! 💛🙏
Dude, this is SO easily obtainable.....looks like it anyway. Definitely gonna be the next hairstyle I try. Thank you! You kept it simple!
Love how down to earth you are ! I've started a vintage-style based channel, and all i can say is: best community ever!
Such a simple idea that makes a big difference! Thanks! X
Thank you so much for this video! This looks so much better than my previous attempts at a similar style. I do my hair like this a couple of times a week now. You have revolutionized this hair style for me, and I love it!
