Thank you! I was leaning more towards latex simply because of the high color range compared to chalk. The lower price sure as hell helps to.

Pro classic is a water-based oil paint. These paints harden like an oil with the convenience of water clean-up. I use Benjamin Moore's ADVANCE. I used to be a sign painter and always used oil based paints for longevity. Paint leveling is essential. Water-based Oils are the way to go.

I LOVE love love Sherwin Williams paint and the ProClassic is one of my faves! I like most of their paints to be honest, though, some more than others. Anyway, I agree with you on the ProClassic. It’s great stuff in my humble opinion! As for chalk paint, I haven’t used it in such a long time. I didn’t have good luck with it several years ago and so I haven’t even try it again. I used Annie Sloan and the other brand I can’t recall but I felt neither of them went on smoothly enough for my liking. Then again, that was back when I hadn’t painted near as much as I have now. I would possibly like it better these days since I’m a little more experienced. Still not a professional;) I have been sincerely considering taking a chance on it again. Is Annie Sloan your favorite chalk paint? I just find myself always buying a latex flat, matte or satin paint and I simply haven’t wanted to spend gobs of money on chalk paint again in case I still don’t like it. I’m trying to decide right now on what I want to use for this antique dresser that was my grandmothers. I don’t want to mess it up so I don’t think I’ll risk using the chalk on it. Ugh. Decisions decisions. Lol Thanks for the video.

Hey! I'm about to do a post on painting cabinets in my large kitchen (I wish it wasn't large bc I don't love cooking). I plan on painting on sanding, painting on Zinsser Cover Stain Primer, sanding lightly, then doing a couple coats (or however many are needed) of ProClassic. You couldn't need a topcoat as ProClassic is super durable. Also, this post shows you my favorite brushes: renovatedfaith.com/vintage-vanity-makeover/ Let me know if you have any questions! Hi Karen, I'm new to your channel and your blog. I want to tackle a small armoire cabinet for our guest bedroom. Being my first furniture renovation, chalk paint seemed like the easiest option. However, after considering the information you have shared, I will try the SW Pro Classic Latex paint. I have read many reviews on the SW website regarding the Pro Classic paint and people have had issues with running/slumping on vertical surfaces. Have you had this issue? Thank you for your insight!

This is such a great question. So hopefully I don't muddy the water but lots of people use these terms inter-changeably. All three terms 90% of the time refer to the water-based latex paint you find at home improvement stores. When some people say acrylic when it comes to crafts, they mean those little bottles. But most latex paint can also be called "acrylic latex" even when different components are used for the acrylic ingredients.
