Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. Soil was contaminated from a "burn school". Military housing was built on the site. Cancer ended many lives, including, my husband's. The Navy closed the base. What about those who died? Still waiting.

People forget that when you join the military, you become government PROPERTY

You know its amazing to me how the Navy can declare within the first week of the spill that the drinking water was fine when they had done little to no testing to that point and then released a statement that things were fine. That inexcusable. With the spill being so close to the drinking water as it was, all due precautions should have been applied immediately

First sentence- they take pride in " protecting their own"? Lol. That's the LAST THING they do! If the water smelled WHY did they keep using it?!

Yeah, the military industrial complex does not consider military families as part of their own.

My father passed away from acute Leukemia. Primarily cause is exposure to Benzene. He was in the airforce for 28 years and did two tours in Vietnam.

Fellow military members. Start collecting medical evidence, medical records and medical test. To file your VA disability compensation claim! If the military caused a disability, you may receive tax free VA disability compensation, and many other benefits!

Try being on a carrier underway, and constantly going back and forth through your own fuel/oil/hyd fluid. We drank that crap constantly. Kept us cleared out.

People need to be held accountable.

The enemy always poisons the water, someone is assigned the task daily, if the water is of bad quality the alarm is sounded until it's clear to drink, neglect this job and all troops are in danger, willful neglect is traitorus and brings the death sentence, no less, like camp le june nobody checked the water for 50 years? Who is responsible for this?

Bridger pipeline in MT broke on a friday. Glendive residents started complaining about the taste of city drinking water that day. The Glendive Police told compainers it was their imagination run wild due to NODAPL protests 200 miles away, infants and the elderly continued to drink the wate till till Monday when Bridger workers notified Glendive to stop drinking water.

The Sectary of the Navy and all admiral’s that retired should be held accountable for signing off against the citizens of the Navy on Hawaii and shouldn’t be able to collect there pension coz of the harm they caused that will last forever in the families that are still suffering

No hotels or medical care was offered to myself or my family we are amongst the civillians who were affected.

My husband came in. He washed his hands in the water that smelled like an oil change on this car. And then, he said......"Gosh".

When a plane is HEAVY & has to make an EMERGENCY LANDING… IT HAS TO DUMP enough fuel to PREVENT DESTROYING THE PLANE!

As someone who lived on hickam the based joined with pearl harbor during this event, when you poured the water out of the tap you could see the fuel separating from the water and the navy still refused to acknowledge that it was there, blatant disregard for safety.

I was working in the hotels when they starting placing families in hotels..it was a madhouse..

Any sailor, who has served on a CV-Aircraft carrier, knows that "KEROSENE" smell & taste in water.

Aye, I served aboard the USS Midway in the early 80s. JP-5 was every where, including the drinking water!

She’s going to be awfully disappointed

So the water was always contaminated due to this. And those really responsible for this retired. Wow

No different than what they did to the residents of Flint, MI years ago and it's still going on...

In 1980 West pack they accidentally mixed JP5 in the fresh water void and we took showers in JP5 For about 10 days it left a person kinda slippery after the shower. The long term affect is skin problems for 40 plus years.

Same thing happened on a Navy Carrier recently, where the fuel was mixed in with the ship's water supply.

Lived on Hickam during this and was one of the many families in hotels. We also know one of the families interviewed in this video very well and that their family member had issues they described in this video well before they moved to Hawaii. I'm all for finding justice for the families who lived through this but don't lie about it like the lawyers aren't going to find out. You are just going to make it tougher for this case to get any real restitution. I know one day I'll see a TV commercial and be entitled to compensation after I've been diagnosed with cancer at the age of 40.

The son goes from playing a video game to staring at a phone to drinking water tainted by jet fuel? There’s no wonder he complains of headaches.

Growing up in California everyone does. Those who paid for water were weirdos. Now I live on a reservation and don't drink it due to old uranium mines around here. But back in civilization I drink tap water all day. No one I know has ever had a problem with regular tap, because in cities it's highly regulated and tested.

Interesting, I drank JP-5 tainted water aboard the USS Midway for nearly two years. I wonder if my health has been affected by it.

Haven't they learned. The faster you admit you were at fault, notify the public immediately and figure out a solution quickly. That the government will look way better, from a PR standpoint, than sweeping it under the rug and hope no one figures it out.

Yea, and about twenty years from now, when most of us who are affected are dead and forgotten, there will be a commercial on the tube "If you or a loved one has ever served on or near (insert name of military installations here), you maybe entitled to financial compensation". The only true winners here will be the Attorneys who'll gladly collect their 33% retainer fee while we get a paltry $37.81 in compensation.

I had a friend who grew up near Love Canal, another cover up that killed people.

9:38 that's the default. once the heat is on all of a sudden they put there retirement paperwork in.

I worked on Molokai building storage tanks from contaminated water we had to build new tanks or they where gonna shut the island down from someone putting a dead deer in the reservoir they flew us in from Texas

I was in the army and I was in desert storm when we were lucky to take a shower we used to take showers and the water smelled like jet fuel. We couldn’t figure it out then one day we saw that the Saudi workers were using the same tankers for fuel draining them into the Jets or the tanks and then filling them up with water without properly sanitizing them and come and bring the water to our shower sites, I will probably die of cancer because of this one day this is serious. Hope the Navy takes care of you guys.

Just this? Not all the killing and raping that happened in Vietnam. Or all the innocent people that died in cambodia? The plutonium files didn't move you? Camp Lejeune? I went to fort Leonardwood. It's contaminated with pfos... a chemical the army knew was toxic. None of that moved you? It took this!?!?!?

Reminds me of the trichloroethylene poisoning of the water system in south Tucson 1970s. Davis Monthan Air Force Base complicit dumping 55 gallon drums of this poison into the desert seeped into the ground water! Military never admits to anything It was a big tragedy.

If you're waiting for the US government to do the right thing don't hold your breath.
