Military aircraft from past and present rehearse coronation flypast
Aircraft from across the UK Armed Forces flew over RAF College Cranwell in a rehearsal for King Charles III's coronation flypast.
The flypast will take place over Buckingham Palace on Coronation Day, Saturday 6 May 2023.
More than 30 aircraft representing the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force took to the skies to practise the formations which will form part of the coronation celebrations.

Considering how important, groundbreaking design and British the Harrier Jump Jet is you would think that would be part of the flypast

@@Marpaparp it’s actually named for both, that’s part of the reason why it’s called Lightning 2, both main partners in the project, US and UK had previous aircraft called Lightning.
68 aircraft ? In 1990 it was 168 and in 1953 it was over 600. Another 10 years and it'll be a couple of drones and a guy on a bicycle. Edit:- Having seen some of the replies here, please let me point out I didn't say it was a bad thing that numbers have fallen, just pointing it out. Also thought that with "the guy on a bicycle" ppl would realise that it was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment. I guess some people are so stuck up their own arses they dont or cant realise.

My Father (1st officer Royal N.Z Airforce), historian would have loved to be alive to see the coronation. I remember him vividly explaining the different formations, during the diamond jubilee of our Beloved Queen Elizabeth II. His comprehensive knowledge. I can't wait for this historical event. And the fly boys. ❤
Such a shame the weather was too bad.
The only thing I would really care about seeing in this event. Love seeing these machines soar through the skies!!!
Shame the weather limited the event to just the Helicopter and Red Arrows flypast, although seeing that R/W/B smoke is always a thrill !
Looks great. Hopefully someday in the future we will have RN fleet reviews again.
I‘d love to see Concorde for a one off. I know it‘s not gonna happen sadly

Many brave men needlessly died in the ludicrous Dambusters operation which only succeeded in drowning innocent German civilians and did nothing to delay the German war effort. Those six f35 fighters are about a quarter of all the f35 Britain has. The total order is 44 aircraft but the rest will be delivered is a while. When the eurofighter has to retire those 44 f35 fighters will be it, because the 6th gen fighter tempest isn't going to be out for many years. Fighters normally take about twenty years to develop before they go into production.

Underwhelming, compared to 1953. Illustrates how far we've fallen :( What would have been momentous, would have been a fly past of every aircraft in service in the RAF, AAC & FAA since 1953. If it were possible to do safely.

What do you expect them to do, pull 600 scrapped aircraft magically into service? This is a sutpid comment. 68 aircraft is more than momentous if you undertstand the strength of those aircraft.
