Back in the year 2,000, or 2001 I worked for a company in a very prestigious, White Upper Class town in Northern NJ. My coworker, who was Black, was pulled over by the police at least twice a week until they knew he worked for the investment company. His crime was Driving While Black. I can bet the police in that town are still the same way, even after 18+ years.

@Jim Elliott A lot of places down south black and white people are more prone to deal with each other. In a bigger city there's a white section and a black section, it's more segregated, therefore more racist.

the abuse of power and the relationship with authority is bad enough on it's own let alone throwing the concept of hate and fear of "the other" into the mix

I remember as a teenager reading how Miles and Dizzy (dressed in suits) were (in the 50s) were (after a gig) chased across a gravel parking lot and taken down by two White "Narcs." Tough to be fully creative when under crippling social pressure.
