Miles Cosmo Live Set // Elektron Monomachine & Machinedrum

Музыка

A live set I would describe as glitch wave, not sure if that's already a genre, probably. Hope Ya Dig!

    This is pretty tight. Looking forward to listening to this set during my commute home this evening but so far, so good. I like your down tempo and mellow dark style. Enjoyable to watch you use the machines too. I've had my MnM for a while, used it sparingly here and there, mostly because I didn't the devote the time to it that it needed but since the real recent price drop on this silver boxes, I've decided to add a MachineDrum to my arsenal (also have the RYTM and A4) as well. Looking forward to pairing these two together. Anyways, I like what you're doing. I sub'd and will check out more. I post live gear jams too so if you ever get bored, feel free to stop by my little corner of webland some time.

    Thanks very much for watching and for the kind words. The Mono is a unique beast, capable of so much but a little difficult to get started with. There are heaps of great resources online about tips and tricks to make the Mono shine. Like right off the bat I always turn up the volume on a track because the default volume is pretty low and the volume and distortion controls add warmth as well. I also always turn off the filter key tracking on every track because it messes with the filters range. Beyond that though the Mono is so powerful, its almost modular. I hope you get more out of the Mono in future :)

    Hey, thanks for watching. I read the manual a lot, read online about other peoples experiences, and just experimented till I found what I liked about it. It also helped that I already owned and Octatrack, Analog 4, and Machinedrum

    this is beautiful, man. I've been watching a lot of Cenk's performances with the newer machines, but this really hooked me in. do you use the sampling function of the Machinedrum (UW?) very much, or are most of the sounds synthesized? could you share any opinions or suggestions about the later iterations (MKII, UW, etc.) of the MD?

  • @warmnatural

    @warmnatural

    7 жыл бұрын

    Braunld Awww shucks, thanks so much ☺️ Cenk is awesome, definitely watched lots of his stuff. I've never used the MD as a sampler I just use the synth engines and the on board samples on the 12bit machine. My MD is a mk2 UW but without +drive (I wish I had +drive). I guess I don't use the sampling functionality because I have an Octatrack and now a Digitakt so it doesn't seem that useful for me. Still love the MD and Monomachine, they're both amazing boxes

    Awesome performance! I have a MD myself, and i'm curious how you create the drum sounds from 10:00 and forwards. It seems like there is more going on than BRR, yes? Care to share your tricks?

  • @warmnatural

    @warmnatural

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Koettnylle I think there is only one tiny drum part that isnt the MD, the Monomachine has a simple drum machine too. But like 95% of the beats are the MD. Not sure what to tell you, I like to make glitchy beats and on the MD its really easy to do. I use a combination of tweaking while holding the function key, then while holding it you press the extended/classic button and it goes back to the saved kit. I also use cntrl machines to control all the tracks and automate stuff over the whole sequence not just on the trigs of each part. its kind of hard to explain but I suggest you read about cntrl machines in the manual. Thanks for watching :)

    +Miles Cosmo Thanks for replying! I figured as much from the clip. Care to go into detail about which parameters you're tweaking? Really curious about the specifics as you might tell. I understand if you want to keep it a secret.

    how do you organise your patterns and kits?

  • @warmnatural

    @warmnatural

    8 жыл бұрын

    I usually just have one kit per song, some songs can use 3 patterns, others less. In this video I basically just had all the patterns organised in one bank so I could just run through them from left to right (on both machines), theres also fun to be had mixing patterns from different songs on the two boxes. Generally I just make a kit per pattern, I try to avoid using the same kit for multiple patterns. This of course means that I run out of slots really fast on the MD because its not the +Drive model.

  • @warmnatural

    midinerd I'm pretty sure it's not FM but I cant remember which synth engine I used for it. At 4.30 I'm using the delay feedback in conjunction with the delay EQ for some interesting feedback filtering effects, the delay on the monomachine is really cool, you can get some crazy glitchy stuff using it. Thanks for watching :)
