I was mikkeys drum tech on “them” tour. It was a honor to be asked by him to do the tour and an absolute pleasure getting paid to watch him kill it every nite. He left it all on the stage every single nite, allways gave 100% Very thankful and grateful to his fans. Never blew off a fan...ever! Would stand out in the snow for an hour talking to fans and signing everything they put in front of him. Great guy , fantastic drummer. Class act

That must have been fantastic ... When MD left King Diamond after Conspiracy (which I think he recorded but did not tour?) the recipe changed; with no MD and no Tim Hansen the music became flavorless to me and I lost interest. Snowy was and is also a tremendous talent, but I think The Eye was a drum machine.

@@henrychiarkas4415 You are correct I teched snowy on conspiracy. He was a good drummer. He was young and dumb.he couldn't carry mikkeys lunchbox. For me ,Conspiracy tour Started out good but became a dark trek when we went to Europe. Their were several crew members who were hired who were seedy as fuck and no buisness being part of our tight knit kd family. I finally had it out w king about these people who were strung out not doing their jobs.so I quit in Berlin. Called my girl at the time and said I was leaving this this ghost ship.doc from savatage( our European support act) came into the room and fuck these guys you wanna work for us? So I went from snowy to killdrums in 5 min...came back to states w sava and did gutter ballet tour. Great time! Yes the eye was a drum machine . I did the Abigail tour but I worked for trouble who was the support act and would up. Helping mikkey alot that your as his tech whomwas his childhood friend had a bad drug prob. They called me 6 shows into them tour to tech mikkey. I was supposed to do the don dokken thing but his old tech begged for his gig back. Didn't matter I was out w testament for a long while. We are still close and I would visit him when Motorhead was around and hand out alot.

The very first time I heard Mickey Dee drumming, was on the song " Charon ", from The King Diamond Album " Fatal Portrait ". I was blown away, and immediately bought the album. Great songs, great sound, incredibly tight drumming......he instantly became my favorite drummer.......and 35 years later.....he`s still kicking ass !!! He`s equally great on " Abigail ", but on " Them ", he simply became the coolest metal drummer around. He has inspired the likes of Mike Portnoy, Vinny Paul and thousands of other drummers. I wonder what Metallica would sound like, if Mickey Dee had become the drummer, instead of that dillweed Lars Ulrich !!!!!

Yep same here. I heard some dudes blaring the Abigail record while loading my drums in my car and I asked what in the hell is that and went and bought it immediately. I was hooked! I studied that record relentlessly for a month then had it down pat. Craziest metal drumming I had ever heard until I heard THEM which was even mor insane imo and I was again blown away at his creativity and being naturally unique to me, with amazing feel, groove and even swing. His timing, drum tone and rhythm is amazing! I met him and had him sign picture I drew of him and he was shocked at the picture and just super cool!

yeah he's very cool and friendly. (I'm on my wife's account cuz I can't get into mine Lol.....) I actually had a pretty brief run in with him while he was playing with Motorhead in Danbury CT. They had just finished opening for wasp and I was trying to make my way to the bar to grab another drink. I was pretty lit up and was kinda spaced out. This was I believe back in 1997. I bumped into someone and when I turned around to apologize it was him!!!!! I most certainly not expecting to see him mixed in with all of us in the crowd! It was like no one else even noticed him! I couldn't believe that! Anyway I didn't want to bother him because I'm sure he wasn't really in the mood for some punk kid sweating him ya know? Lol..... so just said HEY!! and gave him the thumbs up sign he said HEY!! right back but then he extend his hand and gave me a quick hand shake and a quick pat on my back. He asked my name and I told him as loud as I could so he could hear me. He said to me wait here.... so ofcourse I did. About 5 minutes or so later he comes back with an autograph with a picture of him and the rest of Motorhead and it said my name and it said you rock along with my name! Idk why I was so fortunate to have that experience but I can only think it's just because he really is an awesome dude who truly appreciated his fans plus the fact I think he knew that I didn't want to be a pain in his ass. I still have that picture somewhere in my collection of items I've accumulated at shows I've gotten at clubs along with all of my ticket stubs. He went out of his way to make a fan happy and I'll never forget it. I still to this day wish I could thank him for the memory of that night. Definitely an unselfish person!

Dude! What is it you didn't like? It's a great album! It has a stellar band playing on it! Don is actually the weak link in that band! Listen to it again with an open mind...listen to it loud! Cheers.

Agent, these guys were off the rails live. It was incredible. Suggested tracks to check out, The Hunger, Mikkey's intro is one of the best of all time; Forever; 1000 Miles Away; Stay and Mirror Mirror. The videos give a pretty good view of the shows. They were awesome.

Motorhead was opening up for Slayer at the Newport music hall in Columbus Ohio, my friends and I were hanging out with the guys from Slayer, and Lemmy's bus pulled up out back, he took one look at us, we said; "Hey Lemmy!" The man ran - and I mean RAN for the stage door, and those guys busted up! (I don't know the reason behind why) but he wanted no part of them! (And by extension US!) Never heard what was behind that, but that's my Lemmy kilmister story!!

I'm sure Mikkey Dee remembers the King show in my town (Cincinnati) back in the 80's where someone was killed in the crowd from a fight. King had nothing to do with it, but of course everyone tried to blame the "Stantic Metal band". I don't think King has been back since! I did see Motorhead here in around 2013. So I think Mikkey has been back a few times. Either way, phenomenal interview!!!!

Funny to hear him reflect on Singapore in 2020. Their show with Whitesnake here was the LAST rock concert in Singapore b4 Covid hit. I didn't go. I had seen Scorpions a few years ago and I could sense the economy was about to become very unstable and didn't think spending a bunch of money on a rock show was necessary.

I remember the day I first heard King Diamond. Two songs into the masterpiece that is Abagail and I knew I needed to know Who, What, When, Where, Why and How. I soon found out he would be coming to a tiny club on the South Boston Waterfront called the Channel on the Them Tour. The only person who would go with me was some outcast smoking hot Metal Chick from school named Diana. She wore a Metal Up Your Ass jacket to school. Way before it was cool and then eventually lame. We were just friends- and although I was totally in love- I still made sure not to let that affect our friendship too much. We took acid, smoked and drinked and went to the show very early. King Diamonds buses were right there in the parking lot and only the band and a few older guys were hanging out- everyone but King was outside the buses partying I think. So we made our way over and lit a joint and passed it around. Mikey Dee was the center of attention- Diana knew his name and she was making sure he knew that he could have her. But once she noticed her behavior was breaking my heart- she gave it a rest and started paying extra attention to me to make-up for it. Eventually King walked off his Bus to go into the club for sound check. Diana grabbed me by the hand and headed straight at him. She said my name is Diana and this is Billy- and Billy worships you. I shook his leather gloved hand and looked in those crazy blue eyes and said something stupid and then he was gone. We were not allowed in for soundcheck- but when King came out he handed me a microphone. How cool is this guy to think that way and to do that for a 15 year old kid. We were able to go into the club early thru the band door so Diana could use the girls room. We pushed each other around in Granny’s rocking chair tripping on acid and eventually watched the entire concert. After the show she ended-up on one of the buses and I didn’t - so I waited a while then walked home. Well- Diana was out of school for a few days licking her wounds and when she came back I asked her which one she fucked. She told me it was none of my business- and then began crying. I got all enraged and asked if they hurt her. She promised me they were very nice and she was just sad because she thought I was gonna look at her like a slut now and our friendship would fall apart over it. I promised her that I would never bring it up again and I assured her that I still worshipped her blindly. Then I asked- and since when do you care what the fuck me or anyone else thinks. She hugged me and gave me my first SERIOUS kiss and then said- Billy- will you go out with me?!?!? Best day of my childhood. My first real girlfriend had just got the snot railed out of her little ass by a guy in my favorite band. Crazy. But she was the best ever- she knew I was really embarrassed about my virginity and her sense of humor was sinister. She said one night- are you ready to do it tonight- you never make any moves on me- are you grossed out by all the guys I’ve been with. I said it’s not that at all- I love you and I trust you and Im so happy to just be with you that it’s hard to care about anything else but that. It was all a set-up on her part. She fucked me that night without telling me she was having her period and then after pretended that she might need to be rushed to the hospital to stop the bleeding- and she told everyone at school that it was because Billy nearly fucked me to death with his huge cock. Too funny. I’m pretty sure I just laid there on the bottom so that she could do everything- because I wouldn’t even have known exactly where to put it. Anyway- we are still great friends 35 years later and we recently got back together a couple years ago. So I’m back with my first love. But I still do not know what happened on that damn bus- and I’m still not positive I don’t want to know. Even though I would bet my favorite motorcycle that it was Mr. Dee.
