Wow U treat your birds like royalty They're soooo lucky to have.u
They are high maintenance but gorgeous birds. You are so wonderful with them.
After watching several of your videos now I so hope that you are doing educational talks out in public with your birds. You're charismatic and you are knowledgeable and humble and the amount of empathy and passion you have for these birds is incredible. You brought me to tears a couple of times. Please, please if you don't speak publicly about everything that you say online about owning parrots and how they should be wild and free and how difficult it is to have them please do so. Please talk to people face to face. I know you've got a huge social media following and that brings me so much joy. The impact you can have with animals right in people's faces is even larger. I so appreciate what you're doing. I can't say that enough. My gratitude for you is overwhelming.

Thanks again, so happy you enjoy the content. We don’t really do much in person, but if people ever ask, we are pretty honest with our thoughts haha, it’s sometimes not appreciated but oh well
I think birds are definitely one of the hardest pets to own. So beautiful and fun but none stop work and noise. So thank you for always sharing the truth.

I didn't need the slow-motion poop shot though :)
I now have 3 macaws. My girl picked up what we thought was a plucking issue after the death of our bonded cockatiels so I took in a pair of Macaws and she is sooooo happy and it’s super fun sharing our lives with our feathered family. These birds are so demanding but we knew this wayyyyyy before committing to ownership and we knew the work would harden when we took two more in but we do both work from home and we’re fast workers so we have plenty of time to give them everything they need plus more (the three of them joined us on Date Night tonight). They help us make new toys for their indoor aviary.
Our Shamrock macaw is so ridiculously high energy. I didn't realize how crazy he is until I saw this video where Mikey and Mia actually sit still for minutes at a time and willingly go back into their aviary for bedtime. Your birds actually get tired at the end of the day! Hopefully one day we can get ours focused enough to fly outdoors. That could be why there is such a big difference between my bird and yours.

Flight helps for sure, but diet is a huge part of it, when our guys had a bunch of fruit, and ultra processed foods they were always unsettled, they are so much more calm and chill now on a raw wholefood varied diet

@Mikey The Macaw & Friends Ours is on a good diet. He gets harrison's pellets and sprouts in the afternoon and the birdtricks seasonal chop in the morning (usually beans, squash or sweet potato, carrots, tubers like raddishes, and leafy greens if you aren't familiar). I genuinely appreciate the advice, though. I've considered trying your dry mix, but with most dry mixes, he just dumps them out so we are sticking with fresh for now. I guess he's just naturally hyper.

Beautiful birds, but so much work caring for them. So nice to see how well taken care of they are.
Great to see you back and setting such a good example.
Oh!! The poop! 😃😃 VERY interesting for every bird owner! If there's some sh... on my shoulder, my first reaction is: "Oh! Is the consistency o.k.? What about the colour? Is it too liquid? Are the feathers on the bottom clean?" And only when everything is fine I'm happy and gratefully get a fresh shirt while whistling! 😁

I’m so pleased to see you given them lots of variety of food ,I have a 31 year old cockatiel,he sleeps more now but he’s so healthy his brother lived until he was 29 years old so I’m pleased I took good care of them.
Very interesting! I really enjoy the stories from your guys life. Respect to the both of you to take such good care of these two menaces! 😂 Also, I appreciate you always warning people about getting these big birds. It looks so beautiful in the videos when you guys take them to fly. Seeing that, many people might get a bird without thinking about the huge huge responsibility it is, for the rest of your life. For that reason, you can never warn people too much about getting a macaw etc. Anyhoo, best wishes to all of you from California. I❤
love you guys. From my small Senegal, Forrest, to your equally as beautiful parrots. Our parrots will always be wild. I've *NEVER* heard large parrot grind. I hear Forrest grind and my tiels but never macaw grinding. It's my favorite noise. 💛💙
Macaws are so loving , and they talk a lot , and the scream loud
That bird scene is awesome
Wow that's alot of work for these beautiful creatures. Happy you guys enjoy these birds. 😁❤

Hello Macaw People. Nice vid, i felt remembered to a lot of things we experienced with my bird in 40 Years. Unfortunately she left us in 2017. We miss her a lot. Every living animal is not a toy, is not just a pet. It is a full worthy family member with it's own needs. This has to be aknowledged befor getting one.

It's kind of funny how things work out. Right now I have two teen dogs and they are a hot mess. My macaw is a breeze to care for. There is the clean up but besides that he is zero trouble. Granted I know I'm lucky because he stays in his zone and doesn't tear up the house. He tears up his stuff. It's an acceptable compromise lol. As for my puppy, all my Christmas gifts were of stuff she chewed and ruined and needed to be replaced.
I've had my sweet Piggy for about 22 years, She's a perfect Timneh African Grey. I've had her since she was a baby. She's named Piggy for a very good reason!
I need this so much

that meal tip you gave was very good. only give them what they can eat. otherwise it will all end up on the floor, and you'll go broke trying to feed them. i know that doesn't mean much to you, as you're obviously made of money, but it's good advise to us poor people. i love to watch mikey and his friends. every morning i get up and fly with them. it feels good to be a bird.

That was fantastic! Thank you for sharing… I love that they get to go flying in the park! Makes me beyond happy 🦜❤️
I was thinking since you guys are so good at producing very entertaining videos I was wondering if you all had considered writing a series of children's story books on the lives of the two birds. Another idea i just thought of was, if you guys could also put together an on-line book on how to raise macaws. I have seen other people that take their hobby and they publish an on-line book and they charge a fee to download a copy. 'Cause once you write it and put it out there, you guys don't have to do anything after that. I know your lives are pretty hectic already so these are just suggestions. Remember to continue to enjoy your lives. I wish I had grown up in the UK rather than the US. The US is too wild for me and I love your accents. So polished and refined.
I do not know who enjoys your videos more, Mr, Bentley my blue and gold macaw or me. He always talks back to Mikey. I'm one lucky human... I got Mr. Bentley when he was 31 about to turn 32. He just turned 33 in December. He stays out all day and just hangs around his personal space, never leaving it and never destroying anything except for his stuff. When it's bedtime he tells me goodnight and off he goes to bed.

13:48 OMG YOU COOKED THEM!.... Or something similar to them.
I don't know what they taste like on their own, but I have a loose leaf tea that has marigold flowers in it. It is really nice so I can see why birds would enjoy chewing on them. I guess it would be a quite relaxing flavour and soft texture too.

I'm surprised you don't have more specific areas that are easier to clean for the birds. I did notice you have few carpeted areas - nothing worse than trying to keep carpet clean with free roaming parrots wandering around the house! I've had my pet African Greys for decades - Farful is my oldest pet and was born in 1986. Like all my pets, Farful has been with me since the day he hatched. My other 3 pet greys are a little younger. I used to breed parrots but gave it up when I realized that most people can't make the commitment to keep their birds through the years. The problem I'm faced with now is finding a place for whichever birds outlive me. My husband passed away from cancer last year; my kids are grown, living out of state and even starting to plan their own retirement! But here I am, me and my bird friends who remain like preschoolers year after year. I used to joke that parrots are like kids who never ask for college tuition and never borrow the car...almost 40 years later, it remains true.
@MikeyTheMacaw

They actually very very rarely will poop on the carpet, they prefer the floors which is great. And yea, their life span is such a worry.
Appreciate your work guys. You are living the dream and I hope your business becomes super successful.. Btw did I see insects flying in the box at 14:00😅? These seeds get spoilt fast!

My two aged Macaws have finally decided to use the outdoor aviary after two years of trying to get an egg.I decided to pressure wash the concrete floor on my Macaw room.A mechanic friend had previously told me those things are just junk after my previous stored washer had a hole in the motor. I pulled out the new washer which I used once after purchase 18 months ago. No pressure. I kept checking everything disconnecting the nozzles and clearing the line. Motor dead.
Hey! Love this video. Definitely some tips that I will use from now one. One question...do you have a UV light above your aviary? How would I do this without them being able to bite it or bite the wires? We have the large liberta Atlantis cage xx
@MikeyTheMacaw
Жыл бұрын
So it’s a full spectrum light not a UV, they get UV from being outdoors. The full spectrum is just so they can see what they are meant to see, they are super solid and have mini cages around them
Love to see macaws but also realising taking care of them is too much work for me 🥴. Love these videos though❤
