Di ko talaga makalimutan na nag commend sakin si sir mike at binigyan nya Ako Ng pick. Hindi ko pa xa masyadong kilala Kasi Hindi Ako nag ma mind kung sino kaharap ko. Dun sa mesang pinag kainan namin ehh mga bigatin mga Kasama ko at akoy hamak na college student pa lang. Na Fi feel ko na pantay2 lahat. Sabi ni sir mike Ipagpatuloy ko raw mga ginagawa ko na at aapreciate nya Yung mga original Kong kanta. Dahil naging inspirasyon ko Yun pinagpatukoy ko Ang pag susulat Ng kanta hanggang ngayon.

Bilang isang alipin ng musika at nagsimulang mag banda sa edad kong 13 noong 1993 sa isang maliit na bayan sa Leyte,nakakataba ng puso na ang dalawang premyadong gitarista Perf at Mike ay kinikilala ang aking kababayan na si Noli Aurelio bilang pinaka magaling na gitarista anak ng Tacloban!! Mabuhay kayo Sir Perf at Sir Mike mabuhay ang mga musikerong Waray,Mike Hanopol,Danny Javier at marami pa!

I had the privilege of interviewing Mike Villegas years ago in Iloilo City. He and his brother, Angelo, are a very cool and down-to-earth type of guys.

Grabe, dami ko na napanood na PerfTalk, pero eto yung episode na talagang may nag click sa akin theoretically (dami ko natutunan at napulot nuggets of guitar wisdom sa dalawang master guitarist ng Pilipinas), but more than that, na touch talaga ako emotionally, habang nag uusap kayo, kasi parang nag fa flashback sa ala-ala ko yung mga memorable at sobrang sayang OPM "band scene" na nakalipas. As a 90's kid, sobrang fan ako ng Rivermaya at Rizal Underground (alam ko pa rin gitarahin yung Bilango at Sabado Nights and siempre lahat ng kanta ng Rivermaya👌.. as well as lahat ng banda nun (Eraserheads, Yano, Youth, Wolfgang, Introvoyz, After Image, Rockstar, Color it Red, Alamid, Razorback, Teeth, Siakol, Boss band, etc.). Naririnig ko sa bus yung mga Hit songs nila, dinadayo ko yung mga concert lalo na pag may U.P Fair at kinakapa namin ng mga kaklase ko yung mga songs nila sa gitara tuwing hapon after class using casette tapes nila. (wala pang KZread, binibili ko talaga yung cassets nyo) Narealize ko eto na sila "tito Perf at tito Mike" ngayon, sobrang big time na, pero very humble pa rin.😊 Narealize ko rin sobrang saya at walang katulad yung nakalipas...at kung pwede lang balikan ay babalikan ko ng sobra, bakit kasi kailangan lumipas ? simple lang buhay nun, sobrang saya kahit walang internet, walang pera at social media. Acoustic guitar lang ayus at kumpleto na. The "Good Old times" is really the best.........oh well, sa sobrang ganda ng Perftalk na to, napa senti at napa emote talaga ako ng todo.🤭😂(sensya na po, may something talaga sa usapan nyo... more of sir Mike please.🙏) Salamat Sir Perf and Sir Mike, kayo yung nag inspire sa akin at sa napakaraming kabataang pinoy nung 90's na matuto mag aral ng gitara. hangang ngayon dala pa rin namin yun. Wow! Dalawang Guitarists of the Year ito ng Rock Awards ah! Mike Villegas, 1995. Perf De Castro, 1998. Mga alamat, saludo ko sa inyo. Batang 90s ito.

Eto yung makukuha mo kapag 2 primyadong guitarista ang nasa harap mo at naguusap at nagbibigayan. Walang ego parehas humble in my opinion. Kasi binibigay nila lahat sa atin para tayo naman ang magpatuloy at magimprove nang kung ano man ang nageexist na. Sobrang golden lahat walang tapon. Mula kwentuhan hangang jamming. Makiikita mo yung respeto nila sa bawat isa di lang sa magkaibigan pero dahil din sa artistry nila. Manonood parin ako kahit ilang part pa yan mga sir. Nakakainspire kayo. More power sa lahat ng Filipino artist at aspiring artist. PADAYON lang at MABUHAY TAYONG LAHAT.

Born in 1981 and I just wanna say thank you guys for giving us the best genre of 90’s music! I didn’t know that Bayang Barrios is Mike’s wife.. love her music and the whole band of Joey Ayala when they had a gig in Conspiracy back in day. Mabuhay ang OPM and wish you all the best guys!

Nice to see Mike and Perf in one video. I remember Mike, Hank Palenzuela and Jet Broas sa line-up ng Color-It-Red. Solid yung Alert Level Album nila with Rizal Underground (pre-mainstream line up), The Breed, and Tropical Depression.

I also got mind blown on that specific session with Kevin Roy - Kailanpaman and Tao cover. That acoustic guitar playing is literally fire!!!!

1st time ko po magko comment sa isang PERFTalk Video. I grew up in a family that loves music and art. Nung buhay pa si Tatay, tinuruan nya kami ng kuya ko na tumugtog. Ako sa drums and si kuya ko sa base guitar and syempre tatay ko sa lead. Bata pa kami ng kuya ko noon (6 yrs old ako nag start mag drums), and everytime na gusto ng tatay ko na ipagyabang kame sa mga kumpare nya, ito yung 2 songs na lage naming tinutugtog (feeling ko inaral talaga ng tatay ko kase gusto namin ni kuya): Yan Naman by Rizal Underground Princess of Disguise ng Rivermaya (although sadly wala na si Perf sa TRIP album) I miss you Tatay😭! Inaalagaan ko pa rin ang 1989 Squier II na gamit mo habang tinutugtog naten yan 2 songs na yan! Salamat Mike and Perf! bigla ko nabalikan ang mga precious memories namin ng Tatay ko.

Yup, Nung wala pang internet, we had songhits, guitar magazine, the radio and our own ears to learn. Pero the best way we became good was jamming and sharing what we know. May damutan din na nagaganap... hehehe. But in the long run those challenges made us and it was the friendship that really matter. BTW Mike, I am your doppelgänger 😆

I still remember Mayric's. The venue was so small you had to stuff some tissue into your ears unless you want to come out of the venue with your ears ringing. Stephen Lu was the frontman but I always look forward Mike Villegas singing Bilanggo.
