Mike Reilly's Last "You Are An IRONMAN" Announcement
It was an emotional farewell to Mike Reilly, the ‘Voice of IRONMAN’ after his final call at Nutri-Grain IRONMAN New Zealand on Dec 10.
He has called athletes across the line with those famous words ‘You are an IRONMAN!’ for 33 years and at total of 214 IRONMAN events all over the world, including at 33 IRONMAN World Championship events.
Half a million IRONMAN athletes have been called across the finish line by Mike, and he will be missed by all of them.

Mike Reilly’s words changed my life. They are, he says in his book, the lifeboat some of us reach for. I crossed the Chattanooga line three times, but it was a different announcer. I wrote to Mike to tell him my story of overcoming morbid obesity. One day I see a San Diego phone number pop up on my cell phone. I think it’s something else, but answer it anyway. It was Mike Reilly telling me I was an Ironman. He had no reason to call me, but his words called to all of us. Thousands of us are forever changed by pursuing those words by that man. They sell pictures from race day, they should.go back and make those magic words available to us. I would purchase. He has motivated so many. Thanks Mike, you are an awesome person.

Sad days. I've heard Mike tell me "You are an Ironman" in Kona ten times. Now there is no more "Kona" and no more Mike. Just glad I was there for the glory days.

After hearing Mike Reiley say my name seven times , it will be different hearing someone else. Whoever it is, they will have to step up to the task to make everyone say " There's nothing like having (so and so) say, "(your name here) you are an Ironman". I have faith in the next person and will miss Mike Reiley too.
