If you don't know this song, you have missed the 80s....
I sat in the kitchen in the 80's as a kid, my headphones on, waiting for that guitar solo. It sent shivers down my spine and still does. Amazing 👏! What a song, just perfect.

I was just thinking while watching the previous video of this song how much I always liked it and that first solo, the one without distortion. So much to like about this song and I never really knew who it was until stumbling across Maggie's channel just now with a 2023 live version.

similar story (born 1970) in the early 80s i remember with the family being in some department store and i heard this title only faint out of the background easy listening "PA system" of the shopping center, and it caught me, i tried to filter out any other sound - for years did not know who it was but always greatly enjoyed the song and still do. Yet up to date i do not know what the lyrics actually mean (English is not my native language but there are so many other songs i fully understand, only here the lyrics give riddles) but never mind it's a beautiful title.

Magical ! Timeless, beautiful and still perfect. Now that's what I call music compared to "music/songs" of recent years.
This defines the 80s.. The vibe, the attitude, the fashion, the beauty, it's all definitely 80s, and listening to this is like transporting my mind back four decades. Life was so perfect, surrounded by magic and love, friends and family. Most are gone now, but this music plugs me into their souls in memories, reliving them, like we are all back together for a glorious few minutes ❤️

I was 1 year old, my father took the headset upon me. I was carried away by Mikey’s masterpieces , I mean not kidding. Playing the piano with his pieces and I’m almost thirty.🎉
INOLVIDABLE. Wonderful.
This is Real Music. A Absolute Masterpiece.
The dreamy excellence of Mike Oldfield's genius and the female singers he performed with. I remember when this first came out in the charts. Maggie is a brilliant example of those partnerships.
1984년 당시 내나이 14세, 지금의 나는 54세... 40년의 세월을 역주행하여 추억을 소환한다.
Brings me back to my final year of secondary school. Never stopped loving this song - still sounds fantastic.
She certainly has the voice for this song. Really just perfect is the only way too describe it.

Does anyone else love the drums on this song? Played with so much passion.

Simon Phillips plays on the whole Crises album. Love his drumming on Foreign Affair in particular. Ironically the guy in the video isn't Simon, it's Mike's touring drummer Pierre Moerlen.
One of my earliest memories is being in the back of my dad's green Cortina on a Friday night, and this on the radio. It's been one of my favourite songs ever since, for almost four decades. I always return to it.

A Cortina ?.Those were old already in ´85/´86.Really cool design though, but with a quality reputation more similar with an italian/Soviet car.My dad had a Saab 96 (with a V4 licensied from Ford) at that time.It was AWFULLY ugly in every way you can think of,but not bad at all as a "faithful work horse" !.Anyway,it was good times then though.Today´s cars all look like rounded loafs or soap cups (and getting in or out of ém takes acrobatic abilities to some extent.

Legendary Masterpiece. For sure in the top 10 of my lifetime songs.
As a kid the guitar play of Mke gave me goosebumps.
This song is just... legendary. No others word possible.
This song is so special to me, this song and 'To France'. Maggie's voice is incredible, and so distinctive. I was only a child when this was released, but I am so thankful that I grew up through an era when music like this was released. I love how Mike uses historic references and tones in his music, he's an absolute genius.

Agree, beautiful recording and video. There's so much great musicianship here, Maggie's voice is perfect for this romantic ballad, and the visuals are a perfecr match (wow, that silky white dress!). The whole feels completely unforced, as soon as you hear it the song feels completely natural like a folk-song, even though it's actually not an easy one to play. I agree this kind of quality pop/rock music is sadly absent from the charts and radio waves these days.

I loved everything Mike Oldfield released. So many great albums, but Tubular Bells has to be his greatest album.
I HEAR THIS SONG EVERY DAY ON THE RADIO. GREAT TO KNOW WHAT IT’S ACTUALLY CALLED! THIS IS A LEGENDARY SONG. FINALLY GET TO SHARE THIS GREAT SONG WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY ❤
