I don't know either, but judging from his right hand, it's almost a Chet Atkins "backward banjo roll" across strings, which can get some killer speed going.

Does anyone know what that thing on his amp is? Would love to know!

It’s a tube pre-amp. I believe it was made for him so he could take it with him on the road, you never know what you will get for backline at the venue, and this helps him get his sound regardless. I believe it made by the same company as the amp he is using here (Roccaforte)

@@ChrisTaylor-Guitar I got this answer from Doug long time ago. Doesnt think he builds guitar gear anymore: "Hi Michael, the preamp model Mike Moreno is using is called the Roccaforte 804V. This is the one that he has been touring with for the past years. The cost is 700+shipping."

Lot of downstrokes in the right hand. not bad, just interesting.
