Mike Hill Reacts to ESPN Host Sage Steele's Suspension, Apology

After being suspended for her controversial remarks about vaccine mandates, how female sportscasters dress and former President Barack Obama, ESPN host Sage Steele has apologized.
Steele made the comments on Jay Cutler's podcast and criticized ESPN for having a vaccine mandate. She also made comments about Obama's racial identity. "Start Your Day" hosts Sharon Reed and Mike Hill, who used to work for ESPN, discuss Steele's controversial remarks. Hill says his former colleague only apologized to the company because it created controversy for ESPN as opposed to apologizing for her words.

"When people show you who they are, believe them the first time." - Maya Angelou The idea that ESPN is forcing her to apology by suspending her, is basically saying that she didn't mean what she said, it was a slip up and it will NEVER happen again. Dare I say, this is consistently who she is and this will definitely happen again? I mean, be serious. I mean, their are millions of single mothers out here raising their biracial children alone. Are you saying all of those children have to identify with whatever race their mother is, because their father is not in their lives? The ignorance is so nonsensical, that only a person with some serious personal issues, could fathom such a perspective.

It is more of a political term. I am lighter-skinned with wavy hair. People have thought I was Puerto Rican, but you'd need to go back 3-4 generations on either side of my family to get a non-negriod or biracial person. Meanwhile, I have friends and known people who have a white parent or grandparent who are darker-skinned, even black or browned skin. The point is, if you don't clearly fit the eurocentric/aryan appearance you may as well just be black. Obama is darker than me and sage but she's also biracial. They pressed her by stating that Obama identifies as black instead of mixed and questioned why she didn’t. THEN after essentially being attacked for her own personal choice in identification she clarified her position that she is proud to be mixed and that if Obama wants to choose to identify as black that’s his choice. She does have a point though that it’s a bit of a slap in the face of his mother that he made a conscious decision to identify with the heritage of his absentee father.

In the 90's and early 2000s she was a sports reporter for Comcast sports. She would interview Ravens players and the coach. One time she ask Brian Billick a question which he said did not want to answer. She went into a rant that had nothing to do with football. She talked about her life was good. She kinda of mocked him The next week she was made to say in public how sorry she was for those statement. The players had some issues with her. She was gone soon after and the Ravens won the super bowl. This is not the only company she had issues with

ESPN knows what they have in Sage Steele. Her audience (racist white males) will drive up viewership and ratings. Remember, ESPN is competing with Fox Sports, CBS and ABC. It's all about the views and ratings. ESPN also knows that advertisers won't frown too much if Sage Steele craps all over the Black community. She, along with ESPN, knows how to walk that fine line of gaslighting. Let her say anything slick about the Jewish community, and like Don King, she will never see the light of day again! She and Candace Owens will have their day of reckoning.

When my brother was a teenager, he once drank so much alcohol that he passed out in a parking lot. He woke up in the emergency room two days later, after almost dying of alcohol poisoning, with his family gathered around him. He opened his eyes, and the first thing he said was, "Well, let this be a lesson to all of us". To which my brothers and I looked at one another, rolled our eyes, and replied, "No bro, ain't no 'us' in you totally screwing up and hurting yourself". To Sage I say..."Same"

News used to be about digging up the truth and exposing it. Now it's just generic gossiping shows reacting to things ppl already heard. Doesn't matter which one you put one. "He said, she said" "this is what think". Report news that isn't out there for all to see already. Don't express your opinion. How hard is that? These ppl don't even do their jobs anymore. N it's like no one even notices.
