I have tried so many times to watch this video without crying but it is impossible. The music and video together..it is so painstakingly beautiful it rips my heart out. By the way at the end of the video where Lene is hospitalised the girl sitting beside the bed holding her hand is Susanne Sundfør.

Susanne Sundfør is a Norwegian gem and her voice adds a lot to the images we see in the video. It is raw, real and captivating. I guess many reactors would avoid this kind of videos, so I appreciate that you did this reaction with true empathy and understanding. It gives diversity to your channel - and shows that music and images kan be a powerful mix to reach out with important messages. Thank you!

She certainly had an eye for a photograph - those are outstanding. It's so hard when somebody has a psychological disorder like this: the very tool that you use to fix problems, your mind, is the very thing that's stuck going round and round in a destructive spiral that it can't get out of. From the outside, you can't help feeling that if you only say the right thing, make the right argument, then they'll snap out of it, but it rarely works like that, at least as far as I've seen.

Thank you for the reaction and your thoughts. 😢 On a lighter note: Susanne Sundfør - who has won 5 equivalents of the Grammy - is a truly wonderful singer/songwriter. I strongly recommend for instance “Undercover” (the live black and white version).

This particular video is something not everyone should react to. I'm glad you did, it was a lovely, heartfelt, careful and wonderfully empathic reaction. So glad for your advise before the video, I really hoped you would. Thank you. The portraits of the young and elderly persons were shot at the Greek island Chios as thousands of refugees fled to Europe from Syria and other countries. Chios was Lene's favorite island. Susanne Sundfør is worth checking out, one suggestion being "Undercover" live from Stoller Hall. Very amazing performance.

Thank you, Mike and Ginger. I can not really listen to this song. At first, I thought it was because I know the work of the photographer, Lena Marie that this song is dedicated for. Among many things, she portrayed children and parents in the refuge-camps in Greece - survivors. Extraordinary. She had the most terrible version of the Peter Pan syndrome. When she was 10 years old she wanted to stop time. So she stopped eating. I started to just listen to the song without the images of the video. And I still could not do it. The song itself is ... suspended ... I guess is a word for it. It is as beautiful as droplets on a flower and leaves and grass in the minutes of a new perfect summer morning. While wailing about what is lost and never can be experienced again. And that is before I get into the lyrics. The entire melody and arrangement hang in mid-air - and every time I come to the chorus that feels like it can be hugged for comfort - it feels like it dissolves if one tries to hold it. I can rationalise it - the way they overlay Susanne's vocal overlays in the mix it to the brink of becoming a-tonal. It is haunting and hopeful and loving. And yet I cry every time - not entirely sure why. It is like the entire song is a sarcophagus of sorts. Both expansive and claustrophobic.

Same here, I know susanne sundfør from before and also lena marie fossen from interviews and photos a few years before she died. The combination of it all, with the symbolism of death and her dying, refugees in a desperate situation on Greece and all the sad imagery I can’t stop crying when watching. Ive seen 3-4 reaction videoes with this and I litterally weep every time. So sad

Self image is a very distorted thing. We are our own worst critics. It flies in the face of logic that an artist with such a good eye for beauty in ordinary faces cannot see themselves in the same way. Still that's the frustrating aspect of this particular illness that make it so tragic. Amazing song.

Let me go back To when I was young Here, I was born Here, I will die lonesome Let there be light Let there be love Hear the bells Ringin' our song Wake me, wake me, wake me up, my darling When the Lord has descended on us All the worries that you carried with you They are lost in a warm embrace Timelessness Far away From the land Where love is shame And shame is love of a prison Away from the dark Snow-covered hearts Softly, lay your hands on me Wake me, wake me, wake me up, my darling When the Lord has descended on us All the worries that you carried with you They are lost in a warm embrace Timelessness

Lene Marie Fossen was an autodidact Norwegian photographer. She rejected the linear progression of time that forced her to go through puberty and stopped eating at the tender age of 10. She struggled with anorexia for the rest of her life. Fossen chose to be open about her disease and found her means of expression in photography. She is best known for her revealing self-portraits, captured in an abandoned lepra hospital in Chios, Greece. Fossen was a master of composition, color and light, and her soulful portraits of victims of the refugee crisis on the island of Chios in Greece also bear witness of a unique photographer. ‘My photographs are not about Anorexia’ she said, ‘they are about human suffering.’ Lene Marie Fossen was an autodidact Norwegian photographer. Nice reaction to a beautiful song from a hauntinglly and beautiful movie. Gingers reactions shifts and reflects the imagery perfectlly🥰 Both Susanne and Lene Marie are unique. Lene Marie was afraid to grow up and for the transformation to a youth and adult, so she stopped eating, and her body stopped growing. Her art is fantastic, and she really captured the essens of the people she photoraphed - including her self. Because of the imagery you propably missed some of the music. I suggest you listen to Susannes song «Undercover» kzread.info/dash/bejne/c2GptNuIpZe_hpc.html

If you like Susanne, you should really react to this video. When she released her album, she did it with a live performance for music journalists with this song; The brothel. She was played on all radio channels 12 hours later, topping all charts in Norway. It came out in a time politicians were discussing legislaing concerning prositutes here in Norway, so it also had quite a lot of relevance. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fYuc3LSTYKq5kpM.html&ab_channel=AncientPowerslave

Pretty sad and unfortunate situation for anyone going through this. I'm no expert but I knew a girl that had this disorder when I was a teen. I was clueless as to why and thought it was just a disorder that she would get over. Never saw her again after that. All I can do here is if you have this problem contact NEDIC for info on the awareness and prevention of eating disorders in Canada. ! BTW the still photos remind me of Unicef commercials raising $$ for the kids in 3rd world countries. Thx
