Even as a Democrat it saddens me that Richard Nixon’s career and life is highlighted by Watergate, this is an individual who was an impressive intellectual who thrice took the Republican’s Party’s nomination for President, winning 2/3 of them and winning confidently not even counting his two successful campaigns to be the countries Vice President. All and all; Will the United States remember Richard Nixon? - America will never forget about him… Thank you ‘37.

As a Liberal leftist weirdo, I like Nixon. Ya know, the Executive should be about foreign policy and he leaped us past a world of hurt by going to China. He totally worked the Sino-Soviet split like a pro. And he started the EPA and a few things I like. And, wait, I've forgotten - he ended Vietnam. He fucked up, he really did. He would have been re-elected despite Watergate, but he was just a man. And he sinned. But he was a good man and a damned fine President.

I’m a moderate Democrat and imo We had the greatest stretch of presidents from FDR to Carter which is something I think will never see again. And I’m proud to say that does include Nixon. He was a damn expert on foreign policy and I liked how he took A more cautious approach to ending US involvement in Vietnam and opening up relations with China but not 100% selling out to them like what’s done nowadays. I feel like McGovern in 1972 was being unreasonable about an immediate withdrawal which probably would’ve been a disaster kinda how to 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal was poorly handled. Anyway he was also a big proponent of racial equality and affirmative action and the economy was pretty good when he was in charge I think besides Watergate of course a big mistake by him was the war on drugs and I don’t think it was meant directly target certain people but other people that got in charge of it decided to miss interpret it as locking up as many people as possible.

As a Democratic voter, I honestly do say “Nixon Now More Than Ever.” I feel President Nixon got one of the hardest shafts history has ever dished out. President Nixon, contrary to what schools teach, is one of the most accomplished Presidents ever. And moreover, he actually did much more to advance American life than most. Before President Nixon, at 18 Americans were old enough to die for our country - and were sent quite regularly to do that - but not old enough to vote. President Nixon lowered the voting age and abolished the draft. President Nixon was the Commander-In-Chief to finally complete the desegregation work started by President Truman in 1948. President Nixon managed to talk *seven* states into full desegregation...and still retained their political support! I argue that *this* is his most impressive diplomatic feat. Moreso than China. On foreign policy, President Nixon was the greatest ambassador this country ever had outside of President Thomas Jefferson. And although the monstrosity that is the War on Drugs was President Nixon’s brainchild, I also recognize it was nowhere *near* as bad as it is today before President *Reagan* got his hands on it. And ultimately, President Nixon did *all this* while embodying a political party on its *deathbed.* The Party was *dying* under President Eisenhower, and seemed to be doomed once Vice President Nixon lost the 1960 Election. Oh, and the media hated President Nixon. Not “hated” the way they “hate” President Reagan and the Presidents Bush (they love them under all the pretense), but *actually hated.* President Nixon may rank as below average for the 30-39 bracket of Presidents. But that’s the bracket with President F. D. Roosevelt, President Truman, President Eisenhower, President Kennedy, and President Johnson. All of whom rank on almost everyone’s Top 10. President Nixon in my view is substantially better than anyone in the 40-46 bracket, even with all of his flaws. When’s the last time *holistic tangible change* happened for the American people that benefited all of us?

As a social democrat, it's just infuriating, because damn, the Republicans were so damn good at selling candidates around this time. Any of the Mike Curb Congregation stuff, McGovern Defense, the phenomenal Reagan ad team in both '80 and especially the best marketed campaign of all time, Reagan '84, Morning in America. Even Bush '88 had a damn tight ad strategy, and political science students are still talking about all those ads, in Nixon's case nearly 50 years later. Just flawless.

I have managed to manipulate my ears so that whenever the ladies in this song sing “More than ever”, it sounds to me like “For McGovern”. Crazy, huh? Other than that weird thing, good ass jingle. It’s catchier than a frisbee covered with gold coins. Love it. Will listen to this one day again, probably in the hours after midnight, drunk. Nixon now more than ever. (I’m not kidding, reading up on the guy, he seems like a decent, pretty good president who was paranoid and made some really, REALLY bad decisions.) Update- nah- i rescind that last part- watergate is just a fucked thing, and the man's views over his life confirm that he was indeed a weasel. Still the weasel's tune was catchy as hell.
