Mike Cosper on Church Hurt and Church Hope
Confusion and anxiety. Narcissistic tendencies. Spiritual abuses. As the host of The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill, CT's Director of Media Mike Cosper explored how these themes can wreak havoc in a church. Now, he's sharing his own experiences with harm and healing in church life through his latest book, Land of My Sojourn: The Landscape of a Faith Lost and Found.

Thank you Mike for telling your story. Great conversation. Appreciate you and Russell!
I went through spiritual abuse and scapegoating from a ministry that I loved deeply and have tried to reconcile but was not able to find someone representing the ministry to reconcile. I have been slandered for years and it has been devastating. It is good to listen to this podcast. I am a Democrat and grew up in really conservative churches. With this next election I am still trying to find Christian leaders who don't hate Democrats or Israel. I also love people who are Muslims and Mbbs, but with the current climate shifting in the US among many against Israel I feel strongly about not getting swept up by it.
Nice conversation. 1Thessaloians 5:18-19... Louisville is a fascinating town. My daughter really enjoys Louisville.. Sojourn Carlisle. Another of opportunities to serve Our Lord❤
Great conversation, guys, thanks so much. Mike, LOMS is such a beautiful and timely book.
Thank you for your service. ... and praise God you're still "here" helping the rest of us. For all the things that drive me crazy, I still think following Jesus is where it is at.
Excellent interview. Great insights and reflection. Thank you Russell and Mike.
Any retractions on the "there are no war crimes happening in Gaza" podcast a few months back?

Let’s not forget about crimes in Dafur, Syria, Yemen and China as well while we are at it. They’re the forgotten ones.

@@plc2866 so that's a reason to excuse genocide in Gaza? They never had a podcast on Dafur, Syria, Yemen, and China and how they WEREN'T committing genocide.
I grew up in the Louisville area, and I can share that strange experience of people asking me where I went school, but rather high school. I was raised in a denomination that was isolated from the rest of wider Christian community. When I left that community and tried to integrate with the mainstream evangelical community, I had a very difficult time finding community because almost everyone refused to accept someone outside of their circle of acquaintances. This is the biggest downside of Louisville. The cliques are everywhere, and especially within the church there. The current megachurch model makes this worse, of consumerism and charismatic leader worship.

What a nightmare. You're obviously still trying to find your way, when cynicism might be tempting. I congratulate you on that.
I am curious about Mike Cosper because Shane Claiborne was stating very serious things against him and people I heard of. I do not like the other people he objected to that much, but I cannot see something wrong with Mike Cosper and want to find someone else to listen to besides Shane Claiborne, because he is too negative towards Israel.
I liked Shane Claiborne's Jesus For President etc but I am upset that he was calling what Mike Cosper said for Jewish people and Israel genocidal and wish he would speak out against this criticism, because we need Christians to be more vocal who are not anti tattoos, post modern Christians, Democrats etc
