Very nice, thank you! Bloomfield was pure genius and my pure inspiration to pick up a guitar and learn blues. Clapton was my 2nd blues inspiration. Mike Bloomfield is pure genius who never got the kudos he deserved.

+jeffs60s Thanks Jeff. I agree he never got the praise he deserved. Part of that was his own problem. He was uncomfortable with the guitar hero thing. He was also involved with a number of pretty marginal projects. I was really excited when I heard he was doing an album with two of my big favorites - John Hammond and Dr. John. Unfortunately the result was very disappointing and some of Bloomfield's worst playing.

Thanks for the riff. I had that album in high school when it came out, courtesy of the Columbia record club, where you could get 12 lp records for $1.99. Brings back memories.

Agreed, Wes. The truth is his catalog is pretty thin. There are 7 or 8 albums that were released after he died that are mostly demos and outtakes. To me The Live Adventures Of Al Kooper and Mike Bloomfield is all you need. The original Electric Flag, the two Butterfield albums, Super Session and the (IMHO) underrated Count Talent and the Orginals. Are also good. But the impact Live Adventures had on me at 16 years old is huge.

Thanks, Enzo. Bloomfield really fell in live with lick for a while but it never got old.

Obviously I agree, Thomas. He (and Johnny Winter) were so much more musical and tasteful than the British blues players of the '60s. I will work on some new stuff in September.

It is a sad story. He just wanted to play and not be a “rock star”. I often wonder what he might have done if he were able to get past that.

No they're GFS Lil' Killer Pickups. GFS stuff is often very good but sometimes inconsistent. But you can return bad pickups and they're so cheap it's worth the effort.

@@TheRabbi03 I have an early 80s Japan made Squier. I bought it new at Sam Ash in Brooklyn, in 1984. Killer blues axe. Had it about 35 years now. All original.
