"You should be a little bit ashamed of playing [the bass]"...spoken like a true bass player. Mike is the man.
Got the chance to talk to Bishop and Orr recently at a Gwar show and when I told them I was getting back into playing bass their immediate response was "oh that's a mistake." No one hates themselves like a bass player does. 10/10

Thats hilarious! I went to their show and told jizmak he got me into playing drums. He then came back off stage and gave me a signed pair of sticks that also read "dont stop playing." I cry everytime i think of it. Such amazing guys.

@haleya9526 my wife and I have a signed pair of sticks that say "happy wedding!" on them. She presented them to me at our wedding! They're all such nice dudes. Tommy (grodius) fits right in with that.
"This Toilet Earth" is killer! Saw em on that tour, X-Cops opened for em.
I love This Toilet Earth. Very cool basslines on that record.
Scum Dogs came out when I was in ninth grade. Beef Cake helped seal the deal for me to get a bass. Totally awesome video. Thanks

Man horror of yig and maggots were some of my favorite basslines on that album, let alone the album itself..really hardcore sounding..def influenced me to play bass...
This stuff is pure gold with Mike!!
Always loooved GWAR, totally sucked to lose Oderus Urungus. Remember seeing them on Jerry Springer as a kid. Instantaneously hooked!
I have never listened to Gwar before , but it takes a genius to write such basslines because of the dissonances and making it good and not sounding "false" Such a gentleman with an amazing spirit and infectious laugh!

shouldn’t be a surprise that Bishop has a phd in music then huh ❤
Aaaaaaasahahaha, sooooo great to hear those Kepone riffs from the man himself. Hope they tour again!
I love this man's style.
I was always a huge GWAR fan since Scumdogs came out. I bought the Kepone album as soon as it came out not knowing Bishop was on Bass and vocals. I bought it because of a review from one of the many magazines I was reading at the time. Probably Black Market magazine or Ben is dead magazine. Anyways I really loved it and it finally clicked one day I was like I know this voice and Bass style. I read the liner notes and couldn’t believe it!!! That Kepone album is still one of my favorites to this day and I listen to it regularly. I have it on CD and cassette. I have a single 7inch from it on vinyl but never found the LP.
This was awesome! Please do more like this!
I still have huge regret missing them at the Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS in the late 80’s.
This is freakin awesome!!!
The Horror of YIG is the reason i switched to playing bass!!!!!
We Kill Everything will always be one of my favorite albums ever.

Personally, the Cory Smoot era is probably my favorite stuff, but Toilet Earth and Ragnarok are my favorite ‘90s GWAR albums. The new record is a banger too.
A legend
thank you
viking death machine is a rippin tune... love seeing him on here
Remember a few of my buds into scumdogs in grade 9. Thanks for the memories
I can't wait for Muddy Roots to see them!
Cool bass.
@theberserkerblothar8548 You ain't lying about the Surfers shows. I caught them on the Bar-B_Q Mitzfah tour and it's still in my top 5 shows ever.
You brought out the Steinberger! Please T bone it next!!
The best Beefcake. Glad he's out here still doing it.
🤘🏻
As I became a bigger fan of GWAR over the last few years, meeting Sleazy/Don, I’d really like to meet the rest of them.
Long live Gwar!
Man that intro to starving gods is fkn awesome !¡!¡
6:25...The Flood Zone...1990..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What a legend
hope Preschool P is on here. the line is amazing.
No way mike bishop is now blothar...no way i didnt catch onto that..
Gwar is no longer offensive 😢
It's so stupid how many of us wear Sabbath shirts and then on these kinds of vids, play nothing from Geezer.

Well, he didn't ask me to play any Black Sabbath. I don' know many of his lines anyway. I learned a few cool Sabbath riffs over the years, but I always thought his greatness was most evident in the free flowing, almost improv, blues jam stuff he does...and his writing of course.

@@theberserkerblothar8548hey there, big fan. Seen you commented on this and had to ask what amp is your preferred one? Also what model of steinberger is this? It's beautiful.
Speaking of virginia bassists, gwomper from avail had a great playing style, always done this 2 string thing on the bottom strings
