Watch now!: play.google.com/store/tv/show...
Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

Yeah. That’s why he hates Walt. He likes him at first cause he seems hin as dependable chemistry nerd who follows “the rules” Mike likes the rules, because he is a king when the rules are in play. In a medieval comparison he is the kings right hand man. He isn’t an overall better fighter than others, all his tactical wins are because he can predict what his opponent will do. That’s what Walt plays into with him and Viktor. He knows they expect him to plead for his life. When he “offers” to sell out Jesse, it doesn’t raise any alarms, as they expect that. That’s what sets Mike against Walt on a personal level. Mike controls his environment. Procedure is meant to make up for the fact that most people aren’t geniuses.security and controls give less wriggle room for mischief. But Walt played him and their expectations like a fiddle. This is when he hates Walt. Walt can mess up his plans. Flout his protocols. Even Gus isn’t a genius. Gus is gifted and understands people. But his plans are the build up of years. He isn’t even creative in his approach. Even the head of the cartel suspected poison. In a perfect world Walt would be working for the CIA planning assassinations of foreign targets. That’s the level that Walt can operate on.

The story is incredibly Nietzschean. A man casting off shackles that have bonded his potential. Finding happiness in his own power. In fact, it’s only because societal values that his family still adhere to make him choose between his family and himself that Walt breaks down. Which is crazy. Walt junior. Just don’t call the cops. You’re now worth heaps. Even better. Hank. @@Sursion Well, he _was_ hired, but it was (supposed to be) a fake job to keep him around since he does jobs for the illegal side of their operation. Mike's just not the kind of guy to get a job and not do the work.

Reminds of something I heard, doesn’t matter what you do in life if you’re a janitor you be the best janitor in the businesses proper work ethic is a rare trait and sadly when it shows they best worker isn’t nearly valued enough by the company to fulfill his or her true potential a lot of untapped potential goes unused due to negligent and incompetent managers I don’t dare call them leaders because a leader is someone who can see these things and does their job with the crew not work the crew

The entire undertone of this is his willingness to take this to the manager, first. All of his findings, and he tells them all to the manager just so he can patch them up himself and righten ship (he still gets paid, as a consultant, if he comes back to corporate and says "yeah, checked all this, you should be good, found a few things but nothing the manager wasn't enthusiastic about fixing"). No, the manager tries to swing big with his authority on Mike, this relative nobody, and the nobody sends him to corporate....and I _love_ it.

It all makes sense. You want the least amount of potential that someone will investigate into the company if you KNOW you do something illegal, so you want to make it look like it is top notch in order and has no security flaws at all, while you keep the flaws hidden. If too much goes wrong, that will just attract unwanted attention and someone will start to investigate and blow you up.

The other thing Lydia was misunderstanding was that even small amounts of like $10k are still ultimately written down in some fashion, and they can and do get audited as a result. Even large companies will reduce costs as much as possible, sooner or later someone is going to notice that $10k seems to have been spent for no real reason. Then as Mike predicted, people start asking who so-and-so is, why they haven't been seen, etc.
