Pryce is based on Lester from the video game Grand Theft Auto 5. Same with Sobchak or "Mr. X" (the guy with all the guns, that Mike disarmed and made a fool of). He's based on Trevor from Grand Theft Auto 5. Also, Nacho is man behind Vaas from Far Cry 3.

Everything Nacho did here was to see how much he can take advantage of Wormald, and Mike knows it. I almost guarantee he did short him on purpose just to see if he'd stand his ground or let it slide. Nacho has said he likes scamming criminals, so he's feeling out what he can pull and how good of a target he is. Mike's making it clear that that won't fly while he's there. Ultimately a big blunder by Mike allowing Wormald to go by himself.

Nacho did about 3 tests here. Shorting $20 was to see whether they run tight business or let things slide. Then acting offended when acused of shorting was to see how they diffuse a dispute. Finally, letting the $20 fall on the ground was to see how Pryce reacts to being disrespected. All that being said, you can tell what kind of person Pryce is within 10 seconds of meeting him.

Cancel the deal. Pryce should not have picked up the money. He should have given the money back to Nacho and walked away. Nacho ended up disrespecting pryce later on, so that little sign of disrespect goes a long way. ​@Reshme77

The short 20 was definitely a test to see if he was dealing with pushovers. He protests the absurdity of the missing 20, but has it readily available upon request just in case he's pressed for it. There was a great comment in an older upload of this clip explaining that the short was actually a test. Had he accepted the short (as he would have without mike) they would continue to short him to the point where they can pretty much name the price without any retaliation or something of the sort. Mike calling out the 20 was basically him saying "you can't mess around with me, we aren't becoming your dogs"

The amount being short was clearly a test to see if he was a pushover or not. If he accepts the lesser amount then you could have guaranteed that that amount would be even less the next time. That's what I was thinking. Nacho needed it to go smoothly but he also maybe got a sense that this guy can be taken advantage of so the missing $20 was definitely a test- not just to see if he was a pushover, also to see how cautious he is. Would he even bother counting or would he see the huge bag of cash, trust that he had been paid in full and happily move on? Would he make the deal now, count the money at home and then next time insist that he get that missing 20? And yes, how would he deal with it if he found out immediately. It's a test to see how thorough, cautious and how firm he is.

The fact that this scenario is reused later on for Nacho getting ahold of the pill capsules is masterful. Everything works towards the greater plot and not a single character or resource goes to waste.

Pryces criminal skills are way under appreciated. He never seems threatening or seems like he has info. He is clearly smart cause he could count 20 missing out of 1000 in seconds and never once does he look scared. Just bumbling and clusmy and nerdy. Never scared.

Mike is supposed to be a more morally righteous character, as shown by his speech near the end of this video. Selling drugs to Tuco isn't too bad, pretty sure he's just using them to kill Hector, which if that's the case is a pretty good thing to do, Hector is the worst. Selling guns though, who knows what that could result it, it has a high chance of leading to deaths, and might even lead to school shootings. Killing Hector is worth $1500 np, Killing a bunch of students isn't worth 2-15 thousand dollars.

I'd say they both got their hands equally dirty, what separates them is more a matter of intention. Walt had bad intentions and bad motives, Mike had good ones.

That last bit of the speech by Mike is actually kind of heartbreaking. The idea that you can be an "honest criminal" but "you took something that wasn't yours, and you made a profit. You are now a criminal.". I think it's that last part that means most people stay legit. There is something fundamentally wrong with that, even if you're honest about it.

The "criminal" speech is really interesting to watch. Both actors were great; you can see Mike and Pryce both take into account the true meaning of Mike's words. Mike knows it's no small thing, and is trying to make Pryce very aware of that. Pryce is grappling with his conscience in that one shot, and realizing he doesn't really mind. Great show, can't wait to see the end. Hope Bob is doing ok

2:47 Note that Mike stands guard until Nacho’s crew have all entered the car so there are no potential for surprises. What a great detail!

I forgot how Nacho was originally written as being shady and a bit of a bully lol. Such a tremendous ride we went through with such a great character🙏🏿❤️😢 🌹

What always got me about this was Mike goes on a whole talk about ethics and all glasses hears is "I can keep committing crime"

One of my favourite Mike scenes, along with "no more half measures" from Breaking Bad.

That Honda Odyssey never came with an exterior wood panel trim LOL but the extra effort to make Pryce more of a nerd than he already was fantastic and a nice touch 🤣

Mike owning Trevor and Vaas in the same episode is a thing of exquisite beauty.

Jonathan Banks' performance here as Mike is great. I love that he isn't being accusatory, acknowledging that the missing $20 is probably just a mistake, but on principle he just can't let that slide. He has absolute command of every scene he's in.

One thing I’ve never understood here is how Pryce riffled through an envelope full of cash for a few seconds and determined they were $20 short

Mike is definitely one of my favorite “Wise Elderly Man” characters. He may not be a model citizen, but he knows his stuff and is willing to share his wisdom. That’s respectable in my book.

First and last eye contact between mike and nacho. Both moments were gem❤️💔

This show incredible. The tension was growing and growing to a perfect point, and the fact the no explosion of violence of any kind issued at the end is telling us this very tension was the point. This show is brilliant

I learned a long time ago to beware of the calm, soft-spoken guy in the room. The loud mouths and people causing a scene and freaking out and yelling and screaming are usually not the toughest guys. The quiet guy who stays calm and has nothing to prove is the dangerous one because he knows he can kick everybody else's ass. Mike is that guy. The old Japanese saying is: "The empty drum clangs the loudest."

Frightening how many people can be genuinely sympathetic to the excuses for evil. Mike has redefined 'good' so that his own life won't generally fall outside of it, despite all the abhorrent things he's done. For him, he thinks that can be ignored, as long as what proceeds from it is 'honest', despite that 'honesty' being fraudulent and its meaning elusive (Ultimately illusory), and the whole concept of 'good' he espouses being contradictory.

The "I've known good criminals and bad cops, bad priests and honorable thieves" line rlly hits home

Life lessons from a master. I wish more people would listen to what Mike has to say.

Mike is not a master of life by any measure.

Great writing, great characters, fantastic and "gives me chills' execution and acting. Thanks to all involved.

I love how, despite Mike and Nacho being on opposing sides for most of the series, their relationship was always one of respect and courtesy. They had great chemistry together, and their dynamic really sets the stage for what Mike and Jessie would become in the original series.

Love how mike chooses his words very carefully as to keep control but also give nacho the ability to save face and not appear weak. Like with the shorted 20. They did that on purpose to test pryce. Mike called them out and nacho, seeing how tuco is, probably thought trying to be confrontational would help ateer the situation in his favor, but mike knows this trick and is like nope just was an accident moat likely so nobody can claim they were insulted

One of the earlier scenes where Nacho is running things like a boss before he got turned into Gus' personal dog.

You mean back when Nacho was in a much smaller pond, The same thing happened with Walt and Jesse, some fish are able to grow with the pond, the other fish get knocked down the food chain.

Fun fact (I think? I recall reading about this somewhere): in the scene before this one, Jonathan Banks told Vince Gilligan that Mike would never say "Easy-peasy" but Vince insisted on it.

Mike told him earlier that he should take the money first, count it, and only THEN give him the product. The other guy was thinking of making the switch at the same time.

Mike is the shining light of this show, I love the breaking bad world but I couldn’t get through this show without these storylines

Mike is such an underrated character. And I say that in full awareness that he's a fan favourite, he's still UNDERrated. We don't deserve a character like him

There's something inherently terrifying about an old experienced man who has absolutely nothing to lose. Mike's actor does a brilliant job of portraying that.

That sage advice is true in real life. That's what makes this show so good. There is so much that could have been reality it's scary.

Mike has been around the block. Words of wisdom.

I love that Mike's elaboration is the most replayed moment in the video

It's the one to one conversations like this that makes this character valuable for the show ... Even in Breaking Bad, with Walt, Jesse, ... All the same ! ..

If they made a spin off of mikes younger days I’d watch it!

Mike is my favorite character in the show, I just feel like he has so much history he carry’s with him

The monologue in this scene is in every sense of the word…exquisite. Wonderful scripting and acting to boot 👌🏼

It would actually make a lot of sense if Pryce was really Colin Robinson just trying to drain every crook and cop he could come across.

If Nacho had thrown twenty dollars bill at Mike then the deal will be off.

@@digitalempirellc6118 the geek ran to pick it up and wouldn't of thought to drop the pills. Nacho knew that he was dealing with Mike at that point and basically dropped the money to let Mike know he wasn't a pushover either. It was a wash and they both knew it was better to leave it that way.

Mike is nearly always on point with his words and actions. That scene with Nacho's dad was prolly the only moment that left him at a loss for words.

Someone for the love of God give Michael Mando his own show. Guy is so good in everything he's in.

I never get tired of this show or BB. Can't wait for the final season!
