Legend has it that Bruce Dickinson and Ronnie James Dio conjured a daughter of Metal. They bestowed upon her the name of Brittney Slayes, and that is what she does. UTA is my favorite metal band. And that is primarily due to Brittney. The vocal range on this woman is incredible. Y'all would probably enjoy Awakening, Tonight We Ride, and Ten Thousand Against One (very underrated song).

Great reaction. Since you are Canadian the two of you should do a reaction to Unleash The Archers cover of the song Northwest Passage. It's really good. The video can throw you off somewhat until you realize that it is showing the band going through alternate and converging realities. Good stuff. :-)

Well guys, you have opened Pandora's box of metal goodness. This was the first release of four videos on their new album Abyss. Legacy was a video that dropped this morning in fact and this album is the second of a two release concept we like to call the Immortal Saga. Apex was the first part released in 2017 and Awakening is the gold standard in reaction circuits. Abyss is their 5th studio album and they also have an EP that did a remake of Northwest Passage and Heartless World by the Canadian band Teaze...way back in 79. Hope to see more UtA on this channel as you will not be disappointed!!

IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! ABYSS Open my eyes in a daze How long has it been? Am I so out of place? Warmth I can no longer feel My mountain is gone, I'm surrounded by steel The strangest of structures arises ahead, seems to be held up by nothing Where have I gone, do I dream? How can the stars be all I can see? Dark embrace Has someone awakened me? Please show your face Cold and quiet space Out so far beyond stars and the sun, filling my heart up with wonder, unknown Now, to the edge of imagination, open my eyes to phenomenon, and hope Feverishly I explore Searching for someone, there has to be more I can't be the only one here My path always guides me, there's nothing to fear Then why do I feel so immensely alone, this can't be the end of my story Onward I go once again, fighting my way to my final breath Into the abyss Out so far beyond stars and the sun, filling my heart up with wonder, unknown Now, to the edge of imagination, open my eyes to phenomenon, and hope Summon the strength of millenniums past, forged by the fire and flame I am the weapon of empires vast, Immortal is more than a name Cry into the chasm ahead, into to the sky never ending, although Time will tell if I'm worthy of it, a future of final transcending, alone

Apex and Abyss are concept albums telling a single story, and they are both AMAZING IMO. Other tracks to look out for would be their cover of Northwest Passage, Awakening, Tonight We Ride, Legacy, Soulbound, Faster Than Light, (basically everything they've done). Top tracks IMO to react to would be Apex, and The Wind That Shapes The Land - but there isn't a music video for either, so there aren't many reations.

I come back here at least once a week to watch this reaction. I love watching peoples first listen to Unleash The Archers. Mike right off the bat, nailed it with his observation of their sound being rich. Their sound quality really picked up on the Apex(2017) album, and then got even better on this album Abyss(2020). Their earlier stuff is awesome as well, but the mix quality wasn't as good before they signed to Napalm Records in 2015. Also, at the end, Mike pointed out the synth on this song. It is actually a "new" addition to their sound for the Abyss album. The storyline started as Fantasy(land based setting) on Apex, and moved to sci-fi for the second part of the story on Abyss, as it is set in space; hence the lyric "My mountain is gone, I'm surrounded by steel" (instead of waking up in his mountain lair like he did in Awakening, this time he awoke on a spaceship). The synth really drives home that sci-fi vibe and works so well on this album. Ginger, don't worry, I'm not a fan of Rush either, don't feel bad haha. Your comment of calling them old fashioned metal is on point. They really bring that feel, while also incorporating a newer metal vibe, which really sets them apart from a lot of newer bands now days. Also, i cant get enough of your reaction everytime you hear Brittney's wails hahaha

This band is great and has been around for a while now. Their first few albums have a old school power metal sound (ie: Iron Maiden type) and their last 2 albums have been a bit more melodic. Still power metal though. Lead singer Brittany Slays can do an amazing range with her voice, but her extended high notes and can send your soul outside of your body with joy. Definitely look into more songs. A couple that I can recommend would be: “Tonight we Ride,” “Test your Metal,” “Awakening,” “Cleanse the Bloodlines,” “Faster then Light,” just to name a few. Enjoy and hold on tight!

Speaking of the kind of retro-80's metal feel to this one, if you really want to hear UTA channel their inner-80's headbanging metalheadedness (not sure if that is a real word or not...), check out "Test Your Metal" off the album that preceded "Apex," 2015 "Time Stands Still." ... If it hasn't been suggested already below... Probably not many fans' best-liked album. Regardless, of what you label the band and their music, UTA just kick's metal-arse. "Tonight We Ride" is another great track and video off that album. Apex is such a good album from UTA and it is hard to pick a favorite tune, but if you twisted my arm, it would probably be "Cleanse the Bloodlines," and another great video as well. Going back to their sophomore debut, "Demons of the Astrowaste," I'd recommend "General of the Dark Army." And if you want to be a first for the channel, I don't believe anyone has reacted to a song of the band's debut studio LP, "Behold the Devastation," although I could be wrong about that. Off that album, I would recommend "Eat What You Kill" and "Black Goat of the Woods. Anyway, enjoy your reactions, subbed, and hope you continue to dive down the UTA rabbit hole. If you do, enjoy the journey.
