MIJ Strat Upgrade - Part 1, Buying a guitar from Japan!

Radioshop Needs You! In this video series we're going to upgrade our new guitar and we'd love your input. Should we change the pickguard? If so, which colour? Which of our pickups? Decisions, decisions! We'd love to hear what you'd do with it yourself. Catch you in part 2 where it will all come together :)

maybe add a series push pull to make 2 and 4 thicker? i had that in a strat and it was a fun, different option to have under the hood

GAS is a serious addiction! :) I used to own 5-6 custom shop ones until a few years ago. After losing my job, I was forced not to have GAS anymore :D Nice video btw. Cheers.

She's a looker. Tokai uses the same naming system... Put it this way, I bought a TST95 last week, RRP £1400. If that'd been sold here, you could have expected to pay in the same region. By the way, I'll be in touch about getting some pickups made in the enxt couple of days.

I'm sure all upgrades are done but I'm wondering whether you create the copper tape Faraday cage given there's no shielding.

I am in thinking of taking my Vintage V6P and making it a dream stratocaster, its the red one on the photo, it has a thick American Alder Body with Maple Neck with a thick slab of Rosewood, it weights 8.6 pounds considering I paid 300 quid off the list price, putting in a set of boutiques for example your 63's singles it would take this guitar to the next level, go for the cheap and cheerful or put away make it a dream strat ,

Nice looking guitar. How would you rate this (quality-wise) to, say Chinese and Mexican fender strat? I thought the bridge pick up wasn't as great. I would like to know your take on the pickups.

Ha, going to get a slightly biased view from me on another pickup makers pickups! The bridge is a bit too hot for my tastes and loses a little Strat clarity

An interesting idea - you just need to watch the exchange rate AND the tax you'll pay coming into the UK - something like 23-27% because they'll be handling charges as well. Oh - and postage. When all done it's more about getting a rare/unusual guitar from Japan than a USA, or Asian 'bargain' Or a colour - what's happened to all the Fiesta Red and Olive Green guitars?

Wudtone do really good quality tremolos, with a good range of string spacing options. Don't put gold hardware on it, I'd prefer to have my teeth pulled out than put gold hardware on a guitar
