Correct, she didn't say her children were threatened, she said that she was fearful they would kill her children to get to her husband and make him fearful. But the reporter was like "okay I'll tell you guys what's actually going on in her life". The reporter says she knows the story well cuz they had been following the lady, I wanna see where the lady says they threatened her kids as the reporter claims.

Indeed. But if her husband left the gang, they'd probably threaten him and his wife and kids as well. If he never decided to join the gang in the first place, they'd do the same (and to his family if he had one at that point). It's a vicious cycle that they didn't ask to be born into, and which they're merely trying to escape.

I think in order to solve this problem, the US needs to STOP MEDDLING IN CENTRAL AMERICA. People seem to forget or not realize what's happened in those countries. The US/CIA has been involved in pretty much every civil war in Central America. People keep saying that they need to "fix their own country." Fine, but WITHOUT US intervention. It seems like every time they try to fix their own country, the US steps in to "help" and they're left worse off than before, but with US-friendly governments.

@Faith Domansi When someone applies for policial asylum and is approved, it allows them to get an Identification Card, Work Permit and Social Security Card (not benefits). With those three things they are allowed to legally work and pay taxes. Depending on the immigration judge that is in charge of their case they will also order for a court date on a further date.
