Mighty Final Fight (NES) Playthrough
A playthrough of Capcom's 1993 beat 'em up for the NES, Mighty Final Fight.
This video shows the game being completed with each of the three playable characters:

Rather than posing as a port of the 1989 arcade classic, Mighty Final Fight serves as a satirical adaptation that infuses the original’s game play mechanics with a sense of humor that remains firmly tongue-in-cheek throughout.
Instead of saving all of Metro City, a "well-known crime capital [that] has been ruled by violence and death for many years," the goal in Mighty Final Fight is to save Jessica. According to the intro, her beauty "radiates throughout the city and gives the citizens the power to survive," but the cyborg leader of the Mad Gear gang, Belgar, has fallen for her and wants to keep her all to himself.
Playing as Haggar (mayor of Metro City, ex-professional wrestler, and Jessica's father), Cody (Jessica's thug boyfriend), or Guy (the friend-zoned ninja), it's your job to rescue Jessica from becoming Belgar's personal flashlight.
Though it's running on 8-bit hardware, Mighty Final Fight replicates the feel of the arcade game nearly as well as its SNES counterpart ( • Final Fight (SNES) Pla... ). All of the characters' moves and combos have survived the transition intact, so the gameplay doesn’t feel watered down - you can still kneedrop a bad guy, punch him in the stomach a few times, and then throw him over your shoulder into someone else.
The biggest difference is that Mighty Final Fight replaces the traditional scoring system with a levelling mechanic. Beating up bad guys nets you experience points, and the amount is determined by how you finish them off - a simple punch is only worth 1 point, but a flying piledriver will earn you 8. Level ups give you access to new moves (like in the NES version of Double Dragon) and life bar extensions, so it's worth the effort to milk your enemies for as much experience as possible.
The graphics underwent a huge stylistic overhaul in the move to the NES, and though I'm not a fan of the SD style, the chibified sprites are clean, smoothly animated, and loaded with humor. The sound is pretty good too - it reminds me of the Mega Man games with its catchy melodies and over-the-top sound effects.
By making some smart cuts and compromises, Capcom did a phenomenal job of cramming the gameplay of the arcade game into an NES cart. This is top-notch stuff.

One of the best looking games on the NES. Beautiful sprites with lots of personality. That stage 2 music is one of the 8 bit generation’s underrated classics.
It may look like a kid's game, but Mighty Final Fight's gameplay comes remarkably close to the arcade original's.

No offense to either dude, but watching super-deformed Haggar piledrive a super-deformed, knife-toting Tim Pool (at least that's what he looks like!) never gets old.

@@boinamedrex_69 Have you played River City Girls? It's good. Not as good as Streets of Rage 4, but definitely worth it.
when this was released, my friends and i would always laugh how this version was able to get all 3 characters when the SNES version couldn't. Mighty Final Fight's RPG elements was a nice addition. Reminded us of Double Dragon years prior.

Your character descriptions are hilarious in this and fit the game's tone perfectly. I've always had a soft spot for SD fighters like this and the _Kunio-kun_ series. It's always nice to see a game made that was meant to be a parody of the more serious mainline games, love it when companies don't take themselves too seriously and make something like this.
What a fantastic tongue in chick parody take on an arcade classic. Great gameplay with a nice RPG style experience point system, neat presentation and fantastic soundtrack. The dialogue in each boss fight is a highlight imo, which was later adapted in the GBA adaptation of Final Fight.

came out pretty late in the NES' life span.
Very neat NES Double Dragon style leveling mechanic. The Bonus Stage BGM is one of my favorites, as far as Bonus Stage tunes in general go.
At the 21:40 time mark there is a small food stand with meat. Next time it hit and your health will be replenished
I really hope somebody brings back final fight in the future it deserves a remake and lots of new characters and adding retro characters from previous final fight series

The fact that you are using piledriver move to finish them to get 8 exp each 😆. I used to do that too. Also guy has a secret move. I call it rocket kick.

cody have 2 special move. 1 is a charge shot. and 1 after press forward + B when he charging, press UP quickly, he'll release shoryuken and no need to make combo punch.
That kissing boxer was a nightmare to defeat.
It’s only flaw is that it’s single player. Still a great game.

Up side to this version is that all 3 characters are on it, the SNES version only had Haggar and Cody.

That's such a better idea than trying to port these huge detailed sprites to the NES... So many NES arcade ports look like trash.
Pretty ironic that the NES version of Final Fight managed to get Guy , Cody and Haggar at the same time while the SNES couldnt give you both Cody and Guy at the same game for some reasons

My Best video game my chaidhood memory
It's a shame more than 2 enemies can't appear on the screen at once. I assume to prevent image tearing and flickering. This game was sooo close to being great. It's 85% percent complete. It needs weapons, more enemies, a dash move,, higher difficulty.

So Poison is this game but not in the SNES version. Interesting.
My only complain (ok, 2) about this game is that Capcom didn't managed to put a 2 player mode. Was to not make the SNES port look bad? Also, only 2 simultaneous enemies on the screen? Konami gave us both a 2 player mode and 3 (sometimes up to 6!) simultaneous enemies on TMNT 3.
My record was 20 min to complete this game those where days 🥺🥺 I never learned flying kick of guy

The style of this game may look like it wouldn’t be out-of-place on the NeoGeo Pocket Color… Is this where the super-deformed style came from?
That cop blocking the attacks with the baton, and the sudden kick outta nowhere was super annoying. Also that knife throwing clown with his irritating moves 🤦

whose hell-city is worse? I didn't know Capcom's Metrocity was walled off, but SNK's Southtown is Florida/Detroit/Miami feels like the winner.

now i remember why i was so disappointed with this game. cody & haggars attacks resemble the arcade version but they really screwed up guy 🤣 my fav character! instead of crescent kicks he does some no retreat, no surrender kick flip. instead of shoulder throws he does somersault throws who does he think he is, ryu?
