    MiG-9 is one of my favourites. In ground RB you'll seldom go up against other jets, so you can easily outrun them. And the large cannon is pretty satisfying. And I'm sure the enemy appreciates dying to cannons rather than bf-109 bombs

    i think the best part of the mig 9 as a starter jet is that it teaches you the weird ballistics of the two 23's and the 37, sort of taking some of the load off of you when you finally get into the mig 15

    @@Minimeister317 try using weapon selection to focus on just the 23s or the 37, it's not only easier but way better for ammo efficiency

    Concerning the cannon exhaust fumes feeding into the engines. There was a prototype of MiG-9M, featuring a heavily redesigned nose, including weapons being moved to the sides of the nose (37mm to the left and twin 23mms to the right if I recall) in such a way that the muzzles wouldn't extend beyond the intake, solving the issue. However, by the time the prototype was ready, MiG-15 prototype was already made and undergoing testing, essentially making MiG-9 completely obsolete in every metric possible, so MiG-9M project never went anywhere

    I actually spaded the Chinese MiG-9 (early) entirely in Ground RB. Used it for CAS and CAP at 7.3 and 8.0, and it was a wonderful experience harassing enemy planes and sniping engine decks on tanks. Was thinking I'd finally take the late model into Air RB, because I once heard it was incredibly good, but this just looks like average to decent.

    Nice review, as usual. I happened to spade the Mig-9l and the J-2 last week after playing them what feels like ages ago (the German and the Soviet one). It wasn't terrible but after also spading the F-84 and the Sabre it's quite a challenge to hit with those guns again, sometimes I couldn't hit the side of a barn, and rarely you pull off the most amazing (luck) shots. Well they are spaded now and honestly I feel no desire to play them anytime soon :)

    It’s funny to see how very old jet metas permeate today, namely the AP Belts for the Soviet jets as the Airtargets used to spark constantly

    Does vertical targeting for mig9 and mig15 makes it feel like other regular jets or will it make me shoot much higher at medium distances (600m-800m) ?

  • @TimsVariety

    @TimsVariety

    9 ай бұрын

    It depends how far out you have the vertical targeting set to.

  • @cesararanda4213

    @cesararanda4213

    9 ай бұрын

    the idea of vertical targeting is that both gun shell types hit close at the chosen distance, the shells still have different ballistics so the more your target deviates from the distance the further the 23mm and 37mm shells will be from eachother and the harder will be to hit a target with both

    @@TimsVarietyHey Tim, so they've changed alot with the AH-1Z. I don't think its worth a revisit but it is something you should know. It received both the AIM-9M and HMS. Along with this it seems to have also gotten a complete flight model remake so that its yaw performance is no longer terrible. It's useable now. Sadly it no longer sits in the 11.0 lineup for the US. I do hope they'll give it the AGM-114Ks in the future.

    You should review the Japanese F-86F-40, it's a pretty decent plane, just a shame this thing always get uptiered to 9.7 and 10.0 :(

  • @zanaduz2018

    @zanaduz2018

    9 ай бұрын

    The JASDF F-86F-40 commonly gets partnered with the US, so usually that's not a problem since F-104s are so insanely powerful in the otherwise generally sub-to-transonic BR. First-generation IR missiles aren't fast enough to catch an F-104 before they run out of energy, unless the -104 gets *very* slow. As for getting uptiered, F-86s can out-turn basically anything else in uptiers, and the Sidewinders the JASDF one carry allow you to make up for your main weakness by extending your range.
