Miele WCR870WPS W1 - Cottons 40°C with Powerwash 2.0

Please Like & Subscribe! 👍▶️ Also hit the notification button to be notified of all new uploads! 🛎
This is the default Cottons 40° cycle as programmed from the factory (with no programmable functions such as maximum rinse level, allergy, gentle action etc). As the load is less than 6kg it performs the Powerwash Spin&Spray rhythm which saturates the washing but doesn’t tumble in a pool of water, and then recirculates any free water back into the load. It then heats only a small amount of water, which is recirculated back into the load once heated - the load also being heated simultaneously from the drum during this process. Then during the main wash cycle any loose free water in the sump is pumped back into the load. At the end of the wash it introduces more water into the load to flush away any loose dirt and fluff etc from the laundry. Although looks can be deceiving, this washes really well and with great energy efficiency - most loads washed using this process need less than 0.5kWH even for a 60° wash.
The newer version of PowerWash 2.0 as seen on this machine is a lot more sensitive to absorbent loads. Earlier versions would often wash bulky, absorbent loads using this process with poor results and leaving dry patches. As this machine has the latest version, it will correct itself from the initial load sensing phase and revert to the usual washing rhythm with more water if it detects that during the drenching process the load is absorbing too much to be effectively washed in this method. The Spin&Spray rhythm can easily be deactivated by selecting water plus or gentle action.
The detergent used in the TwinDos dispensing unit is Ariel Original liquid & Lenor Outdoorables Spring Awakening softener.

    The basic setting is an extremely economical wash, declared for lightly soiled laundry. We could say: "wet" washing with evaporation. What I like is that this allows you to wash lightly used garments at 60 ° in a really smart way. The last part of the wash increases the amount of water by operating in the traditional way. In any case, the machine can be set in many different ways: gentle rhythm, traditional low level; + water with 4 levels, I don't know how many washing machines have this possibility. Maximum freedom of choice for the customer, in my opinion. One question: was the initial calibration done without detergent?

    Oh, come on! These washing machines are ridiculously over engineered. What ANYONE needs to know to do a load of laundry are (1) choose Normal or Delicate cycle; and, choose your water temp, either Hot, Warm, or Cold. No one needs anything more complicated than this to wash clothes, linens, etc. Miele is laughing all the way to the bank at the people who buy this ridiculous machine.

    With this method of washing the load is already soaked in the detergent solution, and the circulation pump just recirculates and loose water in the sump back into the machine. It tops up towards the end of the wash to flush any soiling out, once the detergent has worked on the load. It is more effective than it looks, although I usually have Gentle action programmed so it won’t do this, mainly because I feel this method of washing isn’t particularly gentle when used on the more delicate programmes.

  • @TheWashHouse

    @TheWashHouse

    3 жыл бұрын

    No, I don’t find it is really a problem - this is the way it’s designed to work, and indeed it works very well and efficiently. It runs the recirculating to pump any excess water in the sump back into the load - it’s not designed to wash in a pool of water. The load is saturated in a concentrated solution of detergent at the beginning of the cycle. It’s difficult to adjust to, but it certainly works well!

    @@blakaeg also - I forgot to mention about the rinses. I find the default rinsing better than previous W2000/3000 mieles, but still lacklustre compared to BSH or even the Samsung that we briefly had. In normal use I tend to have Allergy activated which adds another default rinse on most cycles and still allows you to add up to two more with the extra rinse and Allergowash options. There is also max rinse level but I find the higher levels just cause more foaming. So, in day to day operation I have it set to 3 as standard with the option of adding a 4th.

    @@TheWashHouse Yeah I still prefer the Siemens over this myself. I do love the LG, but I’ve never used a 360 one so I’m afraid I can’t speak for the one that you have, though those jets do look cool. The LG has some things I don’t like, like the noises on some spins, the very short interim spins with small loads of stupidly long interim spins with full loads and not to mention 4 hours as well, but when my LG fails one day, I’d probably buy another as I love mine (apart from the knocking noises on some spins).
