If it's a Miele, it's worth fixing. Nice change of pace from all the power tools, hoping for more home appliance repairs.
She was a vac machine She kept her motor clean She was the best damn vacuum That I ever seen!
miele are expensive but they are well made German built, have a washer over 20 years old never missed a beat, still runs like the day i took delivery, great strip down Dean and hats off to your repair skills, top man!
I wish we all had an ounce of your logic , would save millions in landfill. Keep up the great work 👍

Painful high pitch squeal on the audio here Deano. brutal!
I've had 3 Miele's in 30 years. great machines.
Nobody would have gone in as deep as you did without giving up. It is a thing of beauty!
I've been fixing Miele vacuums for years. And the thing with Miele is that you always have to use the original Miele vacuüm bags. Any off brand bags will destroy the machine over time. Miele uses a 99,98% sealed system that only works with the original bags made for it. When people do use the original bags the machine can easily last up to 25 years. There are still lots of Miele 200 series and 300 series around the 200 series being from the 80's! And the 300 series from 1998 onwards
It's always a good night watching deans videos. You can prety much fix anything.
Excellent job Dean You could also wash the brushes in isopropyl alcohol or electrical contact cleaner to get the gunk off, or even just use warm soapy water, once you make sure they're thoroughly dry afterwards.
Definitely worth fixing that, they ain't cheap Mieles but even if it had needed a complete new motor I'd have stumped up the cash if it was mine. Good to see they're still serviceable.
Well we finally see the man work on something he has not done before, lots of problem solving to get into it and fixing without parts.
Loved this one Dean. Interesting to see you work on something you have no idea how to get into. Great video.
Nice one on the hoover repair. I'm sure your neighbor will be delighted to have that one back in action.
Judging by the amount of dust inside the housing, this thing must have been through years of wrong filter bags (not sealing properly) and/or missing filters. There sure is some dust to be expected, but not that much. That's why I have bagless vacuums, because I don't have to worry about finding the right bag. The liquid damage was only the tip of the iceberg for this poor Miele. Nice to see it working again, I hope that the owner will buy fitting bags and a set of new filters.

Some time ago I had an Miele vaccum for the 90s at our local Repair Cafè. Same amount of dust. The old lady throwed the motor filter out after he was dirty and never put one back again inside. Motor completely clogged with dust.

You get a set of filters in every box of genuine bags.

@@SparkcatcherFox I did not know that, but it makes sense. I've never seen that, or I just forgot, as I've been using bagless vacuums for decades now, and the only remaining bagged vacuum is my Kärcher WD5 wet-dry shop vac. Here, you have to buy the filter separately, though.
It's great isn't it? "It just stopped working". People never give the full story as to how they have used a bit of kit. Great vid as usual.

I watch every single video you post😊 Yesterday I started repairing my miele vacuum cleaner. Just ordered new wheel bearings. Was a bit unsure how to put it back together. Then post this video today. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

Dean, I’ve done dozens of those repairs, and you were a hell of a lot faster than my first one! Note there’s a bag holder missing. Also, the new front (commutator end) bearing won’t be seated securely in the front cover of the motor. They use a setting compound or something during assembly, it comes out attached to the old bearing. I use a single wrap of cellotape around the new bearing to seat it.

Yes without the bag holder it will soon be relying on the pre-motor filter to keep the dust out of the motor. In my experience the bag holder is a weakness with these and is often misused allowing dust to get into the bag area. Bagless vacs are okay for wooden floors but not a good idea if you have carpet. The bag is an extra filter for fine dust and saves the motor as the bag is a lot finer than the pre-motor filter. The Delonghi bagged vacs had a nice two stage pre-motor filter which was great at protecting the motor.
Bloody good on ya mate 👍🏻 Really interesting to see you get past the unserviceable parts and service it anyway 👌🏻 a serviceable brain knocking about in ur head mate!
Synopsis: (1) Doesn't suck; (2) Sucks. Another successful repair for the fine gentleman from County Donegal!
It's missing the holder for the dust bag, which should be fixed to the base and the bag slots into before you close the top. That'll be one reason it's so full of rubbish apart from it having had liquid put through it at some point.

Fantastic repair and I'm sure that cleaner will give years more service. Great to watch an expert at work! Thank you for all your videos.
Great video - useful tip for getting the brushes out!
Congratulations, you can repair all the electrical appliances, even though it was the first time in Hoover, you dismantled them. I wish you continued success in the future.🛠
My mom has this one and also doesn’t work i think it’s the cable, u saved me with this video Dean thank u!
My god above and beyond for that repair. Take my hat off to ya
Well done, Dean! Super interesting because we have the same vacuum cleaner!! Greetings from The Netherlands
You should be glad it didnt had one of those security screws, which you need those weird bits/screwdrivers. Many home appliance manufacturers love to add that. I would know with Vileda steam mop.
Very well done mate. Cheers.
A bit of fun watching how you push on to the problem. Great video, Jersey Bill
You're a brave man, wire brushing your fingers like that! Very entertaining, thanks for sharing, all the best
Well done Dean. That must be a first, even in your shop. I've had an older one appart to clean it out. They do get choked up with dust & fluff in the wrong places.

I would put the small parts in an ultrasonic heated cleaner with Simple Green, Mean Green or whatever you prefer mixed in with distilled water then compressed air nozzle dry.

Commercial vacs are a nightmare, so many plastic clips and hidden screws and the weak point is mostly the lead at the end of that automatic roller. But if you are a bit handy they are well worth fixing. This one was unexpected with the brushes/liquid damage, but another machine back in action by Dean!
Great video and repair on this Miele, make sure to use genuine bags and filters though.
Good Job! 👍
Good job.
I wish I knew someone like you IRL.
You are a legend
Oh what a nice video.
Magic!!
Nice work as always Dean. Can now tell my missus she can fix our Miele when it breaks down. Might get a clip across the head but sure...
Isopropil spray fits good for final brusch clean.
Fair play till ya, love videos
What type of grease do you recommend to put in a dewalt dcs331 jigsaw. Currently replacing a broken actuator and after giving a good clean out. Thanks for your informative videos. Brilliant channel.

Serviceable motor I an a miele repairer 😊
20:45 There is a part with a spring missing to slide the dustbag in.
Awesome Video as milelles are expensive to buy. Would you be able to recommend a bearing puller or let us know which one you used
Not your usual kit of tools eah Dean? Fine job though!
Nice repair, I like your small 3 leg bearing puller do you recommend a type and manufacturer? I would like to add one to my home workshop kit.
Love the linguistics. A Millie?
You work with Zen tools in your shop. Make a video on it. I also want to purchase the same tools so that it becomes easier to do tech repairs.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
little bugger too take apart that one 😀
Brother, please make a video of your repairing tools in your work shop
Miele has spares for everything, including older models, they can be expensive, motors especially. Older models are easier to fix. People listen and fix them up, don't go for a new appliance.
I think somebody tried to hoover the bloody River Thames up rough as hell
I had the same problem with hidden screw!! hahahhaha 3:43
