Val Kilmer's not only has a cancerous tumor in his throat, he won't take regular cancer treatments. I don't know the basis of the treatment he is taking. If he's in the movie because Scorsese and/or the director had him in because he needed the work, I can sympathize. Too bad it was in this badly bungled film. I'm going to just read the book.

When I saw (and heard) Kilmer in panel discussion on new 2-disc blu-ray of Heat, I guessed that cancer and/or surgery has happened to his mouth/throat area. Pretty sad to hear that it's now official.

It's actually quite sad, he's very sick

This review should have been nothing but wildly entertaining, but sadly the revelation about Val Kilmer (hinted at in the review, confirmed in the comments & the inevitable post review Google search) kinda cast a pall over the whole thing for me. I didn't know beforehand and it's pretty evident Brad & Sara hadn't heard either, but it was clear that after seeing him in the movie they at least suspected even if they weren't willing to come right out & say it right then live.

SamKing imo, attaching a name to a film other than the actors' or directors' is just false advertisement. "From the filmaker who brought you Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs comes... _Iron Monkey!_ " Now I liked Iron Monkey very much, but the taglines in the vein of the above quote is just BS. Just because Tarantino got the film brought to US markets doesn't mean he had f%$k all to do with its content. Imo, let a film stand on who actually made it(if the actual quality of the film just can't be enough) _not_ who provided/raised the money for it or what have you. Sorry, rant over ;)

The movie is like watching a two hour edit of a four and a half hour miniseries but the editors don't know how to make the shorter version work so large sections it make absolutely no sense. The various plots hardly overlap unless absolutely necessary. There have A LOT of bad movies this year but this and Book Of Henry will be remembered by film history as great examples of "who the hell had final cut over this" type disasters.

You know, given Val Kilmer's condition, I have ABSOLUTELY no idea why he is in this whatsoever. I mean this isn't like a Miguel Ferrer situation. Miguel Ferrer got throat cancer but actively decided "No, I want to see my career to the end" and they actually wrote his throat cancer INTO the plot of NCIS: Los Angeles. Because basically Miguel actively refused to take days off and said "Look, let's write it into the show. Let's not drag down the quality of the show by dubbing me or killing me off just because I've got cancer" so they wrote it into the show that his character got throat cancer. And they wrote it in such a way that his character's story is technically still going despite Miguel having passed away. Really fantastic show, but that's off-topic. Val Kilmer on the other hand? He doesn't give a fuck about this movie. Look up stuff about him talking about the movie and you can tell he was disinterested in this movie. So why, in precious fuck, is he in this movie? You're not exactly broke, Mr Kilmer. Take a fucking day off, dude. Well I hope Val Kilmer recovers from his cancer nevertheless. But still....Why?

Seeing Sarah talk about Val Kilmer's character having trouble talking makes a lot more sense now that it's well known that Kilmer has throat cancer.

Forget about North Korea, Norway (home of Jo Nesbø author of successful thriller series which includes, The Snowman) must be furious with us. Val Kilmer is denying cancer diagnosis, but who knows. Whether he needed the payday or not he and a lot of other talented actors were all tossed into a metaphorical icy lake...currently movie is at 8% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I think the reason Val Kilmer's voice is dubbed is because he has throat cancer, I read an article about it recently.
