Few points I would like to add. You can get backlit two way radios from Midland. The weather radio is also something you can listen to any time you wish on the Midland radios tested in this video. There is also an emergency alert mode that will automatically interrupt with a weather alert if it is in your area. Finally, the walkie talkie mic was picking up the noise of the pouring rain from inside my car.

I may try to do some long distance tests with it once the weather clears up. It’s good to know they are functional over short distances
These are definitely going to come in handy at Thunder on the Prairie. Great video and review.

Nice video. How did these work out for you over the summer?

They were awesome! We only used AAA batteries from Costco (Kirkland brand) in them. For just basic use at the range where we hosted our event, we had all 3 on all day and the batteries had not hit 50% by the end of the day. On a road trip that I had last summer driving fom Dallas to Nebraska to help my friend and his family move, we burned through two sets of alkalines in each walkie talkie over 12 hours but it was constant conversation. Battery life is really gonna depend of how much constant use you have.
you 28 miles come with a LICENSE FOR G M R S which i have since june and my radio was linked to 6 repeter's in three county's

Hello there. Awesome video! I am getting these radios. Could you please send me the link to your update video of these radios? I’m not able to really find it in your channel. Thanks very much for your time.

No updates but I will make one soon. These were used quite a bit over the summer with no issues. They have a good vehicle to vehicle line of sight range of close to 1 mile. Battery life is solid with AAA alkalines.
It would help if you demonstrate how to charge the walkie talkies............we bought a set yesterday and the usb ports don't fit the base AND the top of the walkie talkie. The base has a place for a very skinny usb plug, the other end of the cord is a wider plug. The instructions say to plug the other end of the cord into the top of the walkie talkie where the rubber piece opens up......but the plug under the rubber piece is a very very tiny plug spot..........the wide usb plug does NOT fit into there. So we can't figure out HOW to charge these things.

You get two cables with the kit that I bought. The small end of one of those cables plugs into the small USB port on the back of the base. The larger end plugs into your power source. Once you do that you can charge the walkie talkies in the base. The other option is to charge the walkie with the included cable and skip the base unit all together. On the walkie talkie, just below the send/talk button, there is a small flap that opens and you can plug the small end of the charge cable into it. The larger end of the charge cable goes into your power source. What sucks is that they don’t give you the adapter to plug into your electrical socket.

Hello there. Do you know how to turn the beeps down. I understand that you can turn the beep on and off, same as the Roger beep. However, the beeps are quite loud. On the main screen, I understand you can turn the volume up and down when someone talks to you. I have not found a way to turn the beep down. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

@@shaunteckno ok, so I best I can do is tell you how to turn on the mode called “silent operation”. This will mute all beeps and tones are disabled. Press the menu button, until the display shows the “bP” icon, select “on” or “of” by pressing the arrow up or down key and push the PTT key or Menu button. That is what my instruction manual says to do.

@@travisp11 OK, thanks. That’s what I figured I might have to do. Thanks very much for looking. I really appreciate it.
Am I supposed to take the white plastic off the batteries that came in the package? You used your own I think but can I use these ones? What is better? I’m so confused lol

The batteries that come pre wrapped are rechargeable. They should pop right in and charge in the dock.

Depending on how much you use the handsets I’ve always found that regular alkaline batteries work better.

We used them for a road trip helping my friends move from Dallas, TX to Lincoln, NE and had at least a solid mile range as long as we had a line of sight with each other. Batteries lasted about 4 hours in each radio but that was with near constant blabber. I used them for a range day last summer and with just normal use I got all day battery life at the end of the day from them.
