It’s because they don’t allow some rapper in their songs or make some pandering statements on life and politics.
This band is truly unreal. They are redefining country music while also staying true to it. Saw them live in NYC November 2021. They were my first country concert.

How was your concert with them? I saw them live and they were TERRIBLE! (I just wandered if they had a bad show.) They basically went through the entire album in a medley in the first 5 - 10 minutes of the show and then just played junk after that. It was NOT GOOD. Especially for the prices they charged.

Country music whats that? Seems like country folk like some kind of music... Not city music? Not new sold out half assed trendy shiz? Perhaps something that takes a guitar and speaks some wisdom? Might be a combination of those things with a combination of other things.

It doesn't sound like country music should sound but Midland has kept that sound from the 80's and 90's which is why they are so beloved. But judging by your other comments you don't feel that way. Rapping (Sam Hunt) and having a fake country twang doesn't make you a country artist lol. It's lost all it's electric guitars and fiddles. It's manufactured by a computer now and has NONE of that sound that Midland has kept. Dude has the voice and they kept the beloved country sound.

chill out. these boys sound like george strait or keith whitley and that's something we don't hear anymore. all we hear on the radio nowadays is pop disguised as country and they're ending that.

That countrygirl chick has been shoving her opinion down everybodys throats on this video. Must be a young one because no sane adult human being would be that rude and pathetic over opinions lol.

xSevenDevilsx she blasted me on one of Midland's other videos. Obviously another one of these pathetic millenials who think only their opinions matter. Rude, ignorant and self absorbed.
This is the greatest music video of all time. We are gonna have to invent an award to recognize this director for his genius and the band for choosing him.
Love this song drinking song
Midland has made me love country music and definitely would pay to see them in concert.
Every morning I go to work I play the country radio but all they play is this country/pop music which sounds way more like pop but this boy's are different there going in the right direction. Make Country Music Great Again.

I love that bit at the end when he comes off the stage and invites her to dance all while still singing the song, this is wholesome Country!
They doing it right
I'll always remember this song as long as I live. Special place in my heart for this tune.

Granted, there are many things to admire about this video...and the 50+ million views attest to that. On a personal level...the words, and phrasing are what resonated with me. Combined with melody and timing...these guys have brought 80's and 90's country music into the 21st century...and left nothing behind...in fact...only added to it. Mark, Jess, and Cameron have mastered blending traditional with contemporary. Looking forward to the opportunity to watch you do what you do live...in the mean time...well done guys.

@ Midland. Thank u for making sure my dad could ever know this song, Jarrett Culp.
Saw this on TV a couple years back, loved it but fell asleep. Was like 2 am lol. Forgot the name of it and could only but remember the rhythm and loved it. Glad I found it again, one day while I thought of it the word “Midland” just came to mind as a distant memory. Love ya.

I love Midland, great music!
Midland is a breath of fresh air in country music. Shows there is still some traditional skill in the business. These artists are so underrated as its not pop or "bro" Country
When I wrote this, there were about 400 comments and I didn't see one praising the cinematographer. That is a damn skilled stedicam operator! Wonder how many takes/rehearsals it took to get this thing done. Beautifully shot.

Dillon Schneider was the DP and Collin MacDonnell was the steadicam operator. Really great people to work with. We rehearsed the movements for a few hours after our camera prep to nail down the action and spent the first half of the next day working camera movements and then shot maybe 9 or so takes.

@Brian Aichlmayr Very cool. Thanks for the feedback. Dillon Schneider and Collin MacDonnell? Impressive work. And I see you're an assistant camera operator? Yeah, you guys deserve a lot of praise. This is one of the better single-shots I've ever seen. Dillon did an astounding job with the lighting. The fact the focal characters are perfectly lit, 90% of the time, in a dark bar, is impressive as hell.
