MidiSeq MIDI Step Sequencer demo

Ғылым және технология

MidiSeq is a polyphonic MIDI step sequencer with some great features, such as note step advance, step modifiers (tie, half, strum, and accent), super stable internal clock, nice swing and two modulation sources with velocity, after touch and CC destinations.

    Poly mode is killer. Nice work!

    Looks really nice, clearly a lot of thought has gone into this, like how the sequence can run while editing parameters which makes it really inspiring. Seems easy to work with despite the limited UI.

    This has some really awesome and unique features. The minimal control surface is a bit off-putting to me, but what it can do is amazing. Kudos!

    +emdotambient All MidiSeq functions can be controlled from a MIDI controller keyboard: the CC values are freely assignable, and could be "learned" on the fly. This makes sequencer use and sequence editing a breeze.

    Quite simply AMAZING. I’m a little intimidated by the complexity of building and flashing these little,devices. I’m tempted to try soldering a build because this is such a brilliant cool little utility. I gotta have one Can the internal clock in midiSEQ provide clock to other devices downstream? Or to an arpeggiator on another synth? Thx

    fantastic work. and the thing you mentioned about controlling it via midi cc opens a lot of possibilities. just one question... when changing i.e. loading different patterns while its in playback, does it stay completely in sync? i.e. afteer the load button is pushed, does it wait for the nearest following beat to initiate change, or do we have to hit it in the exact right moment ? thanks

  • @kvitekp

    @kvitekp

    +clusterchord1 Currently it loads as soon as you press the encoder. I'm planning to add an option to load sequence immediately, on the next beat and on sequence end.

    No more program space, can't add any more features. Will have to wait for a MidiSEQ Mk2 on MidiREX platform.

    @@TyQuinn Not yet, but i'm still working on it... looks like the only way to implement it would be to add another SRAM chip. Luckily, the existing hardware design has a socket for one extra SRAM chip.

    Hmm, when you turn the swing up it sounds like the even numbered steps are moving closer to the odd numbered steps? Not a problem if you and just turn it the other side of 50%

  • @kvitekp

    kvitekp Great news! Out of interest, is it really "backwards" or was I just mishearing? Normally the higher the swing, the more delayed the second note in a pair is.

    possible to advance seqence steps with external midi note input?

  • @kvitekp

    @kvitekp

    8 жыл бұрын

    +lobit12 Yes, it is. I forgot to demo it, but it's on the Key Sync page: if you set it to [step], the incoming Note On events will advance and transpose the step. So if you're banging on the sequence root note you'll be just advancing it, if you play notes different from the root note, you'll be advancing and transposing.
