    You can upgrade legendary gear, but I agree there's no reason to buy it. As for your lack of using some of the skills, you don't just poison grog barrels and wait for them to drink from it, for example, you use tendril and then shoot the barrel to produce bale fire, an aoe damage effect, and so on with the other "useless" kills. Although I do agree about the free loot pickup. Good video.

    I agreed with you. Except on the ability part. The pinning is used agains orc who run. The throwing knives to build up your hit-counter. The poisening grog is used to get the poisonous fire. However you will only need these if you play on highest difficulty (Which I recommend) Because you'll need actual planning with your abilities and the enemies weakness. Plus you'll most likely die a couple of times. Which creates cool stories

  • @Xilivian
    @Xilivian6 жыл бұрын

    Sweet, wasn't expecting a video from you about this game! Finally gave me a final verdict about this game. Angry Joe helped me see what the game was about, but his emphasis on microtransactions and silly skits really took away from his overall video, and I ended up not getting up much out of it. With this review, you've successfully covered every inch of this game, from it's few pros, to it's *many* glaring flaws, and *everything* in-between. Really let me know that the game really is nothing more than the first game, but bigger and *slightly* better in some small areas. Thank you!! (Just wanted to go into my personal thoughts on the first game in the next paragraphs, feel free to skip reading it all.) I played and beat the original Shadow of Mordor earlier this year, and I can definitely say all the hype behind it from it's release in '014 was entirely unfounded, and a load of crap, at least in my opinion. Many of the issues stated in this games review also hold over to the original (boring, *boring* collectibles with imaginary "depth", lackluster protag, meh storyline with some interesting things done with lore, and the main goal of running everywhere, killing orcs over and over, doing a quick objective that's rather mundane, and so on.) The combat, while fun, got really stale about 5 hours in for me personally. I played the *hell* out of all the Arkham games, with Origins being my favorite, with Knight close behind it. With that said, I *really* got into their combat systems to a point of being a really hardcore challenge mode perfectionist (getting highest scores I could in the arena-like challenge modes in those games where you fight hordes of goons. *TONS* of fun, even today.) The combat upgrades in those games always felt like sweet rewards to leveling up, but not *one* of them made you feel overpowered, as without the skills necessary to play at-least competently in-combat, you might as well have zero upgrades. But in Shadow of Mordor? By the time you get to even half-way down the skill tree, you're downright a *god* , and are basically un-killable unless you drop the controller for a couple minutes. From the very beginning of the game (I shit you not, dead honest) I was getting 100+ combo's without trying whatsoever. The kill animations, while *really* badass and many of them being "better" and a fair bit more flashy than most of the Arkham's knockout-animations, got really boring to "pull off" after 10-ish hours of playing the game, while the Arkham games never had this issue. Combat just got really boring and played out overall (I was thinking "great, another mindless army of orcs to mass slaughter..." every time I started combat after playing the game at about the 10-ish hour mark.) The story in it while good, held no real surprises, and it just felt like the devs were just doing whatever they wanted with the lore bits they went with, and did whatever with everything else. Tolkien would definitely be rolling in his grave, especially when talking/thinking of Shadow of War in this regard. It was definitely no higher than a 7 at most, and that's probably being too nice with it.

    Just played through it, and I frankly lost my collective s..t when they introduced an orc necromancer... and he is a tougher enemy than the bloody Balrog. Otherwise I agree with most of what you say here. For me Shadow has the same problem as many other open world games - it is way too big for the content it has which makes it quite repetitive.

    Hey Suspect! I've got great news for you man! :D There IS an RPG set in Middle Earth where you get to choose your race, customize your character and travel the entire world of Tolkien, visiting every tree and building and every place you like from Shire all the way to Mordor and even the countries that never appear anywhere in the books but in brief mentions or Silmarillion legends. The game, unfortunately, is an MMO-RPG, not a solo game, so yeah, it is better to play with friends as the feeling is much better, but playing it for yourself and joining an active clan is also rewarding and fun. It is also completely free, even with a possibility to earn in-game currency that allows to unlock special features without having to pay for it with a very efficient way. The game is called Lord of the Rings online, I highly recommend the game. It's got some absolutely amazing visuals (although it's not THAT young) fantastic music and dialogues, and most importantly, very player friendly and fun to play mechanics and it's all happening in Middle Earth, and you can meet a familiar character and a place on every corner. It's also got one of the best communities I've seen in any MMO, with plenty of people happy to help you with anything, because honestly everyone just plays this game for fun, nostalgia or a rewarding multiplayer experience. Go check it out Suspect! Who knows maybe your dream already came true and you just didn't know about it :)

    But that's a shitty mmo-rpg, so the combat is extremely lackluster, and because it's f2p, you can't feasibly get far without paying for something. Not to mention it takes way too long to get even to moria let alone mordor.

    I’d be curious if you’d be willing to review Horizon Zero Dawn? It’s honestly the best game to come out this year in my opinion
