    Brosnan was always my favorite. He was also my first Bond. So he will always hold a special place in my heart. But Craig just blew me away. Granted, it's mostly the writing, but Craig's bond is grittier, rougher around the edges, and just impressive as shit. I'm glad this is one series over the past few decades that got the reboot treatment. It really needed it, and I feel that Brosnan was the best sendoff for that "era." The way the last three films has progressed has really been amazing, and I can't wait to see where they take this.

    Hey Unusual Suspect, did you see "Kingsman: The Secret Service"? I ask cause director Matthew Vaughn and writer Mark Miller thought of the idea while they were getting drunk in a pub together and started complaining about how spy movies these days were so overly serious and lost all sense of fun. The result of this conversation is a movie that's like if someone took "Men in Black", combined it with "Kick-Ass" and filtered it through old-school Bond tropes (crazy gadgets, eccentric supervillains with worldwide schemes and lairs, etc.).

    The thing I started to notice about the Craig/Bond series, is that as a reboot, _Casino Royale_ shows an entirely different Bond, one that is younger and a bit more reckless on his first few assignments, but as the films progressed to _Skyfall_ and eventually _Spectre_ , Craig's Bond would slowly but surely evolve into the James Bond we've known for so long. By _Spectre_ he is shown to be a bit more mature.

    I like Craig better because better acting and he is closer to Ian Flemming's interpretation of Bond. Flemming's Bond is cold, cynical, and brutal while Craig brings human emotions to Bond and make him more human. Bronson is more looks wise and he sticks what the film fans (who never got a glimpse of Flemming's interpretation Bond) are use to.

    I personally think that Daniel Craig was the better Bond, I love how he is more dark but has a little bit of humour as well. And to be honest I think he is a slightly better actor, not that that Piers Brosnan was a bad actor, just Craig is slightly better.

    In general, the newer bond films actually seem quite a bit less risqué, in regards to the involvement of bond with, and the pursuit of women, both in the films intros, and plots... A little change of pace, can sometimes allow us to feel something, as we either accelerate, or decelerate, rather than staying constant, so I kind of find it welcomed, but miss it at the same time...

    Actually, Someone else than bond killing le chiffre goes with the logic of this movie : it breaking the codes of the franchise. Because they want to "kill the father" and create their own new version, because it's the begining of the characters, so he is not James Bond yet, so the codes are not supposed to work yet, whatever, the movie is breaking many of the saga's rules. JB who dosen't give a crap of how his cocktail is made, the Austin martin being destroied without a proper car chase, a opening credits without naked dancing girls, JB being brutally tortures, killing all the JB girls, no gadget, no Q, no money peny, and no dramatic killing of the villains from JB. So it isn't really a problem seeing than it is what they wanted to do, breaking all the traditions of the saga. But this is a relatively risked artistic decision that may not work for everyone indeed. And this "breaking code" method can work great like in this movie or the first Mission Impossible movie, or work really poorly like in the last Terminator movie.

  • @JaelinBezel

    @JaelinBezel

    But I just finished watching Spectre (without having seen any other 007 movies besides Goldeneye) and it has JB caring how his cocktail is made, opening credits with dancing girls, Spy Car Car Chases, a surviving Bond Girl, exactly one gadget, Q, and Moneypenny. Not to mention the villain monologuing while Bond is strapped to a torture table. So I call false on your comment!

    I agree. Plus, Ian Fleming's interpretation of Bond is brutal, cold, and cynical like how Craig and Dalton portrayed him and Casino Royale is a Fleming story while all the Brosnan films were not. Brosnan is just look wise and appeals to Bond fans who never read or know anything about Fleming's books or his interpretation and just rather stick to the film tradition.

    5:51 LMAO! BTW, I love your review, but I think Casino Royale is one of the best Bond movies ever (and I've been watching them since 1971)!

    Yes, but Bond doesn't need to be English, after seeing Dr No, Ian Fleming actually wrote Bond as part Scottish because of Connery's portrayal.

    The best Bond movie ever. It may not have the best car, the best villain, the best girl, or even the best Bond, but in my mind it’s still the best.

    You get not many criticisms of Casino Royale - which leads me to believe you like it Cant wait till the Craig era fans start making videos. For those of us who joined Bond in the sixties they proved Bond was back at last.
