This is so fundamental... I figured why my tracks sounded kind of muddy or lacky of punchiness, started to search why; some person told me it wasn't related to the EQ, but to this, which I had found by investigating. So now I'm lacking of mids. I do love doing tranceish sounds, which are usually very wide and stereo, and now I see what I was doing "wrong". I was putting too much stuff in the sides, the kick was only in the mid with a bass and that didn't sound glued.

@@helpniggv It's easy. I also found it hard to understand. First, you have your signal, let say, a pure saw wave. That saw sounds equal in left and right speakers, which means = Mono or Mid (it's perceived as it is in the mid in front of you, as if there were only one speaker in front of you). In order to create Stereo, one of the speakers should delay the signal less than 3ms or less to create the stereo feeling. So natively, everything is Mono, and by adding more ms, then the Stereo feeling increases. With this method, you can split one signal into two signals, which is the Mid/mono one, in front of you, and the Side one, at the sides of your head, and apply different tweaks to each signal. As rule, bass goes in the mids, and pads and bright sounds in the sides, so you can check and tweak each part. This applies when you are mastering a track that has already everything mixed and equalised. I'm mastering my first track and by using this method, I found why it lacks of solidity. I have almost nothing in the mids but the bass and the kick. I was fueling the mid with a super loud and beefy kick. Now I know I have to add more instruments to the mid, specially bass ones.

@@solomonjoseph8608 very welcome mate. Another tip is also to use some stereo tool, like the stereo shaper from IL, or the Channel Mixer from kHs; Stereo also works and it's much simplier to use. For example, grab a track and put it in your DAW and add an stereo Utility to that channel. The one from kHs is pretty traight forward. You have two knob: Mid and Width. Since the track is already mastered, if you turn off the Mid Knob, then you will hear all the ignal that sounds stereo, at the sides of your head; if you turn off the Width one, then you will hear only the stuff which is in the mids. And from there, you can figure which frequencies are in the mids and which are not, and how both things are balanced to create depth and not an smudgy mix. Said this, you can also create more room for more frequencies, avoiding them to clash among themselves. I have heard some music and found also when some sort of Fxs or details appear, they are only in the sides, or sometimes the bass lives the mids and goes to the sides, then again to the mid after a drop. Things like that too.

one thing i would add though for the people reading is that these corrections are being done in Solo mostly to show how midside affects audio, however in your production always try and do processing while the mix is playing so you do changes according to the context of the mix not to make the solo audio sound better, since it might not fit with your mix.

@@exeza By the way, you can also mid/side EQ your synths or instruments too, as well, applying effects to each. For example, it's commonly used to put reverb on the sides instead of in the mid, while other effects are used to be used with the mids and not with the sides. Regarding EQ, you will like to have the low end of frequencies parts in the mid, and the high end of them in the sides. So bass need to be put in the mids regarding the stereo field. Snares too, even thoug they are crispy or more into the 500 Hz domain, they remain at the mids. It's also related to how punchier you want your mix. If the snare or kick is in the sides kind like you won't hear them as much and impactful if they're in the sides. Yet the snare can be in both; the body of the snare in the mid, the crispier sound if it at the sides.
