The biggest surge in my rank came from finding my core three and my main of that three to lean on. The game just suddenly felt different. I knew my limits and could use them to act on mistakes, press to create a lead, find the difference between compensation and good play. It cascaded from there. I feel super comfortable and in tune with what I am right now. I started to understand what I am to a team, where I need to be, what I need to accomplish to win. This lead to always thinking about what’s in my way and how I need to play to accomplish my role. I’m now thinking about how to win as I’m playing. It’s also allowed me to catch mistakes pre and post when they are counter to my champion, my role, and my strategy. So, hearing about this is really great because I truly believe that by finding who I loved and understood and choosing to push through the tough to find what it means to play the champions and how to use what I am to win this game has helped me win more frequently. I was stuck at a solid 50% but once I built this up, I had a rapid win rate of 89% knocking me up a few divisions which did slow down but to a steady 55% now. I’m very close to a new tier. I hope I can keep rolling forward to get there soon.

@@CoachCurtis I do have a question, though. My comfort pick is Annie, I play her the most and she is my blind. I have no real troubles with it apart from, more recently having all AP topside. This often leads to itemization against me and majorly diminishes my feeling of impact. Normally, I’d just answer this with Talon, but I get outmatched a lot when going in blind and I’m not as confident in minimization as with Annie. Should I just risk either Annie or Talon despite either drawback or find an AD mid that can better cope with subpar matchups?

Then try to include one or two champs that bend into a secondary role so you come out of the mid game with a champ that has a role in teams you are used to. An example is Ryze for top or Veigar for ADC. Support can also have an extra benefit of granting autofill protection if you choose that. Making your games at worst 50/50 in your role but choosing a mid support can make it feel like you’re always doing the same thing and it won’t feel like being stuck in a 2nd role.

I think viewers get this with specific videos (as lux, you want to do X) but it would be nice to have a generic, "As an assassin, you are looking to transition your lead to another lane" or something.

I got my Platinum 3 back just recently and I know I'm gonna get demoted so I watched this video and realized that I actually did this in one game. I was playing Pantheon against GP and I died to him once, so I told myself to not interact with him because I couldn't kill him, I sidelaned until I got my Sterak's and as a result I won 8 games in a row going from P4 0 LP to P3 6 LP, IDK if this was luck but I definitely did use this strategy at satisfying my role in the game and I feel proud of myself. I just have to keep doing this. I also loved the video you're an amazing coach, also I hope my name looks familiar. :P

idk my highs in league were very variable. season 5 i was peaking p1/d4 with riven / fiora etc. cant remember s6/7 but i remember that s8/s9 i was really into mid lane scaling champions that were not too bad early game was peaking again p1/d4 as kassadin/kayle/diana mid main than i got to S10 was shocked my main champs got butchered with nerfs on their base damages in the early game (kassadin/kayle/diana rework) so i moved to jungle and started playing khazix/jarvan/evelynn/shyvana (mostly copying whatever Agurin did) so reached P1/D4 again. This season is pretty much my lowest point idk what to play, idk what to main, it feels like my importance from game to game is very little, the fun i had is withering, losing the "control" aspect of the good old days when i was fed i was fed when i was behind i was behind, but nowadays even getting high kills it feels very little, maybe its just time to uninstall idk

What do you do if your carries feed and you are on a non carry champion like an Ornn or Sejuani? And I am talking about hard feed like 4 deaths in 10 min and 30 cs down. I was playing off meta picks like AP bruiser sejuani mid. I was stomping my lane ending the game 12/6 and with a lot of assists too but I couldnt carry late game teamfights cause my carries were not fed. After I got my first kills I roamed a lot and got kills on the sidelanes but it was not enough. And this happens every time I dont pick a hyper carry champion. I used to one trick Kayle mid/top and I am still good at her but I am kinda bored of her atm. Any small tips?

Hey Curtis ! I'm getting into learning theory at the moment, I just found out about Andrew Huberman's podcast. He's a neuroscientist and teacher at Stanford. In this video -> watch?v=hx3U64IXFOY at 17:30 you can hear him talk about flow state, and he basically says it isn't a good state to learn things, it would actually be the opposite : to change your brain in such a way that repeated actions become "muscle memory", we need to make errors. I just thought you'd be interested, I need some time to dive further into this and try to verify it, but if it's true it clearly goes against some of the stuff you recommend doing to get better at league. I'll tell you if I find more about this, if you're interested. Also I guess that'd be difficult to do but a broken by concept episode with a guy like him would be awesome. Cheers and thanks for the video !

Qiyana is no garbage, no matter how good the player is your combo can be screwed because of the GAME, her EQ mechanic now works based on sight/last position. If qiyana EQ’s someone in a bush, it will go to where she last saw them, I understand this, an autolock combo is kinda broken paired with her damage. The worst part of the nerf is the last position thing, it is still an autolock combo, her q will go despite where your cursor is, meaning, if you are against a Leblanc or a champ with mobility, they will ALWAYS dodge ur q, a flash, dash, leap etc will always counter qiyana now, so many already meta champs are now countering her HARD. Riot messed up by allowing qiyana to counter qiyana, qiyana is one of the most punishing champs, but now she punishes herself by the player not being able to play around autolock mechanic, good qiyana players already hover the cursor over the champ, but now their cursor means nothing. It’s so tilting, her jg is still good, it’s pretty strong imo, she has good clear, but it’s insane In the later game. Her mid lane is ruined now, I will never play her because no matter how I play with her, the game wants me to not combo

My impression, and not only regarding mid lane, is that you either play like a bruiser or you don't win. You either abuse divine sunderer, shieldbow or goredrinker or you can't keep up. If you're an AP champion you better pray to god you can fit frozen heart in your build. Lucian mid? Tahm Kench top? Most lethality builds? Playmaker supports? That may win you early fights but that don't win you games. It is not uncommon to see 5 or 6 players going conqueror the same game. Sometimes more. Sure, a prowler's electrecute Qiyana will beat the conqueror/goredrinker Zed if the Qiyana is a better player, but on roughly even skill levels, the Zed has a much larger room for error than the Qiyana. Same for the Ziggs facing a Wit's End Kog'maw, an enchanter facing a playmaker support. It is not like I can't pick up Elise and win games with her. I can. But I can achieve the same or better results going any cookie cutter conqueror champion, do nothing but farm whenever my ult isn't avaliable, stack bruiser itens to my heart's content, outscale and just win. Closing out games, making proactive plays and taking risks don't feel rewarding enough. When was the last time any of you saw mobi boots outside a hook champion? Maybe that's just a jungle bias because we're stuck in a farm meta for a season and a half. Its not that I can't climb. I just feel like my climb has extra steps over the random Kayn taking conqueror, being immune to invades unless I bring conqueror of my own otherwise he has a 900 gold advantage by level 3, and then he outfarms me and outscales me so unless everything goes absolutely right for me on the gank department I'm automatically behind.

I have to comment, im impulsive to do so. I have a demoted game so this will come to the negative way of thinking, "sorry" ahead. Well, this is the matter(problem) with the way of thinking... not everyone will think same as you and ultimately they couldnt care less. Now on the detail, on low-elo ranks people will highlight kda over good thinking. So is naturally that a support will take a kill or two to fake a good kda leaving the adc off the game. That could go to 0/7 toplanes trying to go back to the game in 1/7, that could go on jungle of utility taking kills when he/she shouldnt or the same mid person you coach thinking he want a "back to the game" and having j4 kills or ultimately what ends up failing that game (him letting the jungle die). Now, see this is a classic way on league of legends, everyone wants to be the carry or the protagonist and thats what "ultimately" ends up failling and on "defeat" every game. Sum: not everything goes as it should or as it planned or as its written.

@TAMPA_LAKERS_MADRID you having to use google to translate would be a problem in itself. Even if you said so to have a good mentality wich you dont. Im talking about what I have to deal with on my server. And ultimately the suggestion is to adapt every game cause you will not likely to have a perfect game. You need to learn reading comprehesion. Watch your lenguage!

You can focus on the game/fundamentals a lot better when you aren't worrying about how to play your champ :) I will never understand why people first try champs in ranked but that's what happens when you are in bottom of the barrel gold lmao -__-

The question is in what ELO can you actually apply this? This might be useful at Diamond+ where people kind of know how to play the game and their champions, but what about lower than that? Someone who is 3/0 early might look like "the win condition" but they might also just completely throw it away, leaving you without the resources to become the win con and that guy throwing the win con you thought he'd be away. This is a very difficult topic...

the basic reality of why mid lane meta doesnt matter is because: Assassin/ Skirmishers being dominating over 5 seasons (3 years more) now, and will continue doing so, unless an actual serious meta shift pushed by Riot, none of these matters. Period

this is such a highvalue vidoe thanks for that buy cull if last hit perfectly 450 g (to help me scale) or buy sword/refilable/control ward ---> then getting back in the lane with item advantage and probably wave on my side and against laner without potions/ lower mana and hp. With the wave on my side I am Irelia and i have so many options.... freeze, zone enemy, look for all in, w8 for jungler, push and go help jungler, get 4 stucks and just jump on enemy with Q) It feels really good and unstoppable.

If u check the data only from OTPs u will see that when meta favours their champions their lp gain increases considerably, so there is actually a small meta factor that helps u, stating that meta does not matter is not accurate. Now, I agree with u, being very good with 3/4 champs is a way better strategy for climbing, but meta cant be ignored 100% - even more when some champ is broken for a patch or two before getting massive nerfed. So, when meta favours some specific champion in your pool: just fking spam him every match. Meta is only very important for pro-players where the small tiny advantage makes a huge difference, contrary to soloQ where RNG is king.
