Love all that you do! Keep posting! While most state practice acts for athletic trainers don't currently allow manipulations, they have become a competency in the newest standards beginning July 2020. Education tends to drive practice acts so I would expect this to become more common in the years to come.

Very nicely done, Doc! I must admit I'm biased towards only chiros or osteopaths doing manipulations. But not all of them have good technique. Some of the older generation educators (and those they trained extensively) do it beautifully, with minimal rotation. It's a small quick movement. And the way you did it, reminds me of that.

Hi Brent, I am posting my question in a couple places hoping you’ll see it. What are your thoughts on chin nods/tucks? I was reading that a reverse curve in the neck (cervical kyphosis), can cause the spinal cord to stretch and shear. a with a reverse curve can tear the spinal cord up! Worse part yet to come, our spinal cord doesn't always feel what is happening. You can damage it daily for years with out knowing. Do you agree with that statement?? About 95% of docs/pt’s seem to prescribe doing them. My neck is straight, not curved. Would your above exercise be more appropriate? Just want your valued opinion. I know you can’t diagnose since you haven’t seen me. Thank you!

This is the best training. I would like to understand the physics of injury and repair. I have a great request. Can you do diagnostics and technique on the skeleton? Thank you for this tutorial video. For me, the issues are the directions of the injury and the directions of repair. My technical thinking is probably turned off - the directions of the movement's activities 😉

Hi. It would be nice to make a video about what problems can emerge from spinal manipulation, what are the statistics about it, what tests can help predict those problems and how reliable they are and how can you difference a funcional restriction from a anatomical restriction? :D

Why is extension stressed as part of the manipulation? We were taught that this puts stress on the vertebral arteries and may be the reason for post manipulation PICA stroke risk/VBA damage. Is there a study used to reference this technique as safe? I know extension is the easiest position to perform this from which would convince me to consider this technique.

Chances are both will occur simultaneously, and although HVLT will affect both, ideally you would combine manual release with HVLT and stabilization/therapeutic exercise. Dr. B2

There's a reason why you had to go to school to learn how to do this. An instructional video on how to do it will only encourage irresponsible people to try it at home (thinking that they understand how to properly do it).
