Join me today as I build a mid century modern coffee design by my customer! This coffee table has an interesting blend of curly maple and red oak stained with a dark walnut stain.

Great job on the build! I never thought about joining two different types of woods together with a unique cutout like the table top! 🤩💯👊🏽

Amazing Job Nolan!! What was the previous piece that you made that the coffee table was matched after?

would it have been pos to pre-build stain?

I couldn’t guarantee a perfectly smooth transition from maple to the oak without sanding. The only other option was to use actual walnut but I was matching a previous piece I built for the customer

@@NolanBuilt ah that makes oodles of sense ... I'm a painter so these likely obvious issues don't occur to me . I do wonder if you used a vinyl tape like j tape if you could have masked ; but wood may act differently with paint creep than the substrates I'm used to working on. Also there is something about just settling in to slow careful work like you did that can be almost mediative ... Amazing work dude .
