You could make something less dangerous but still fun by just putting a microwave capacitor on the output of the regular zapper circuit.

@@j3ffn4v4rr0 Yes. However, since that comment I actually tried it and was disappointed by the result. On closer inspection of the label on the capacitor it appears to have a discharge resistor in-built, which discharges it fairly rapidly. It's an improvement, but not dramatic.
