I personally prefer my console to have a Disc Drive not just for Games but to watch Films natively in 4K without Broadband for the best quality possible and also I hate paying for multiple subscriptions just to find out a Film I want to watch is not even available on the subscription streaming service and the same goes for Gaming

I buy 4k bluray movies when they get a heavy discount (10-15 bucks). my internet is crap too so it makes sense for me especially movies like LOTR or Jurassic Park.

I heard NASA are building a glow in the dark console that gnoshes you off, while making you a coffee and runs games at 18K 200fps..... i had an email about it signed from DreamcastGuy that was rolled up and kept safe in crapgamer's a##, till they sent it to me. It's true because i said it is. And Sony are being purchased by McDonald's and the PS5 Pro will look like a Big Mac, they sent me an email too with my order. So it has too be true.

I'm going PC. I have the series X and it's the last console I'll own.

Oh. That sort of stuff was going on since the 90s. It was downright frustrating because those PC machines were only meant to first process Oregon Trail and Old School Doom along with different video graphics that didn't require so much gig space and all that. There's so much Tech Stuff going on right now? It's actually worth it to "Bite The Bullet" and just buy a 1400 to 1600 dollar desktop machine. Most of them should at least come with a two year warranty. It's actually worth it even if you are new to PC Gaming. There are a lot of cheap fun games out there also to enjoy if you decide to wait for that 100 dollar game you want to reserve. And NO! Don't listen to some of these self appointed "Geek Squad" guys with youtube accounts that keep trying to convince "YOU" the potential player that you can "Build" or purchase a PC Gaming system for less than 800 dollars or something. That's basically paying for the "RED RING" but for Computers. Have some common sense.

Being able to upgrade parts in a xbox would be a game changer tbf

Microsoft doesn't give a $#!t. They want to go all digital to get those GamePass subscriptions. It's time to consider moving to another platform because the Xbox is a sinking ship. There are better options out there: PC and lots of Handheld Gaming PCs Handhelds -SteamDeck - AyaNeo - Lenovo Legion Go - OneXplayer - Asus ROG Ally - GPDwin Storefronts: Steam GOG Also support emulation!! You can rip your games to storage and run them through emulation all games up to Xbox360, PS3, WiiU and Switch. (PS4 emulation is starting) Also there is always: The PS5 and game disxs since it will be getting most of Xboxs former exclusives. Switch 2 as Nintendo has always supported physical media The only real loss is sticking to Xbox when Microsoft are destroying it to make way for Games as a Service GamePass subscriptions. Jump away. You won't regret it.

That would hit them a bit, but not enough to make them rethink their strategy. I am also a fellow physical media aficionado, but people dig their own grave with the digital content storm and when they wake up, they will be restricted some if not all access to their games.

The reason that they're coming out with another Xbox is to integrate more A.I. I think that the next Xbox is going to be heavily A.I. tailored.

On the hybrid XBOX, if it is hardware upgradeable, it could be a huge success. for example, if you use one for 2-3 years, you may be able to upgrade to the latest GPU later. They could offer optional optical drive support via an External USB if you want one

All they have to do is an optimized OS for scale and keep the option for physical discs

The only problem I see about having 3rd party making xbox consoles is that you have the potential of running into the issue that android has and that's so many different brands having their own versions with different hardware and software in them so now devs would have to try optimizing for 10+ devices instead of 3

I would definitely like an Xbox/PC based on Xbox OS so it's just more efficient. Windows 11 Handhelds are proving how horrifically bloated windows 11 is. The rog ally literally only lasts 50 minutes unplugged. And What do I do on PC anyway? Mostly just web browing, ms paint, video editing, and file/folder management. If they can transfer the bare minimum to xbox it would probably work way better. But for now all I want is a handheld xbox that can play series s games. Bare minimum for right now.

I'd pay 1k for a console if I had the same freedoms as a PC where I'd be able to acess any file on the thing. Especially if it had steam and other storefronts and I could download any .exe off the Internet and run it. I'd rather have a product that is reliable and I don't have to mess with like a PC.

That whole story jumps one important thing: optimization. I don’t want to mess around with configuration, and I doubt the devs are willing to optimize games for every spec possible. So, it should be something like multi-boot system: Xbox OS, Steam OS, etc… and, of course, fixed specs.

if it means I could have a PC/console without spending thousands on a PC I'd absolutely jump on that because when I had a steam deck I loved it but the thing would overheat like crazy even with lower performance settings so I had to get rid of it

If Xbox consoles become a (baseline) "standard" for a "gamer's variant of Windows" that would be incredibly appealing, as the better compatability would compete directly with Steam OS and Chimera OS. But to compete with Sony and Nintendo, machines built to this standard would have to be better-priced than most PCs.

There's no reason a "gamer's variant of Windows" wouldn't support such things, even if they weren't part of the *baseline* Xbox standard.

They have been trying to find a way to upgrade the series x hardware to be the same as a completely built pc

One aspect that people are overlooking is the fact that children who have one then also have a pc to assist with their education. Word and such for homework. Making things better as a view from a parents viewpoint.

A PC is what you make it. It can be as complicated or as out of the box as you want it I think that’s a common fallacy sure, they are more expensive upfront but, over the life of a PC you would pay for two maybe generations of consoles, all while not having to pay a monthly subscription just to play the game online. On top of that you can simply just upgrade whatever part that needs to be upgraded. You just get a lot more bang for your buck while lasting longer between generations. it’s honestly kind of a no-brainer if you are a gamer. During the PS4 era, I ditched the idea of the console, invested only 1400 and got myself a rig that was even better than the PS5, and will compete with whatever comes next in the console market. So ultimately, that’s a $1500 value for only 1400 if you want to look at it and pricing terms. On top of not having to pay monthly.

@@cezarstefanseghjucan Most PC gamers don't care about resolution mate, it's all about frame rates and frame timings. Still to this day the largest single resolution used by PC gamers is 1080P, pretty graphics lose impact 10 minutes after gameplay proper starts. I don't play anything I can't lock to at least a constant 60/60/60FPS.

long time pc gamer here ive started using my ps5 more. im just tired of all these freaking launcher. and sometimes after working 12 to 15 hrs i just want to turn a game on an its just works

yea that'd be cool, like the old dell & gateway pcs. you could spec you're xbox on what you could afford or what purpose it was mainly for. & over time upgrade it.

just make the Xbox app work as the real Xbox and dashboard

^ They just need to stop releasing the xbox console. Put that R&D money into the improving the xbox app for cloud gaming / keeping their studios open to make good games. If they want gamepass to grow then they need to take a risk and stop playing safe by keeping their options open.

That would be nice, but it would be even better if they could make a 'lightweight' version of Windows, without all the BS, that could boot straight into the Xbox dashboard with zero interruptions from Windows. I have a Windows machine for a Kodi HTPC, and Windows is the most annoying thing about it.

I think they are scared of a future where not every PC have windows on it. Many gamers would jump ship to Steam OS if they use PC only as gaming machine. If they don't fight now for the market we may have Steam OS on every new Handheld in like 5-10 years. With this logic, Xbox is the last thing on their mind. Having Linux/MAC for work and Steam OS for gaming would make Windows not needed at all.

I don't know--I don't think the Series X being the most powerful console was a failure or even it just not being an asset.I think it was just not having the games to show it off. The games seem to be coming though and maybe this Gen was just a bust because Covid slowed it all down and kept those games from coming out sooner. Also just poor management for sure. I think having a powerful machine that can be a cross-over trad console and PC sounds amazing. It could be set up exactly the same as now but if one wanted to they could add Steam and others. While i agree the price is an issue, People buy 800--1200.00 phones that basically last 2-4 years before upgrade. I would def buy an $800 console/PC hybrid. Maybe they create a $500 handheld S version and an $800 console version?

That would be nice, especially if they added Steam support (to play games not available on Xbox, like God of War and Rachet and Clank, haha!). I just wish Steam would release an updated controller, similar to the Steam Deck's controller. I have the Steam Deck, and I wish I could play it docked to the TV with a new controller. I still have the old controller, but it doesn't have all the buttons and layout of the SD.

Wait a second. I just realized something. Microsoft was talking about handheld mode for windows handhelds, and this lines up with this letting other manufacturers make xboxes. So maybe they're making an xbox mode for handhelds where it pretty much boots the xbox OS on any windows device.

I think the konsole benefit is u buy the game put it in and it works the tricky thing is this to bring it on pc without make a degree in software developing and i think valve get a point in this konsole feeling experience…

I think any part of the reference design refers to handhelds. I’m sure they are better designing the Xbox experience on handhelds to be a more seamless experience. I think the integration of steam and other gaming services being accessible on Xbox would be a very strong selling point.

Could make it so the Xbox Series X 2 comes out at a competitive price and does 1080p to 1440p 60fps to 120 or 144fps and at the same time bring out the Xbox Series X 2 Pro, which also plays pc games 1080p to 4k and 60fps to 144 or 165 fps!

And when the new come up the next console you need to be able to buy it from your local GameStop or Best buys. And especially if there is a collector edition like the Halo infinite console. And have a 3 to 4 TB solid state drive.

Calling it now, they are either going to 'partially open' the market so that you can buy eg: an Asus xbox, hp xbox, etc as in, a home console running/locked into xbox software but with different specs. That, or a handheld (dockable??) is coming soon.

I gave up PC & Console gaming when games became larger than 14GB & where no longer available on physical disks on PC.

I think the reference is in regards to other form factors and likely, Asus, Lenovo, etc get to make a Super model. While Microsoft makes the Handheld + Home console.

It's all well and good making the best (just for example say Microsoft did,) console ever. If they cannot get their games released in time in working order and of good quality. That console means squat as the whole point of a console is the games. Any gaming fan base is there for the games they can play over the actual console.

They need to make a modular console where you just swap out parts for the next 20 years it would be so much easier and Microsoft would make those parts and sell them as add-ons. It is very possible and there are lots of ideas and development so it could be done.

pc games were oiginally on disk then console followed suit which became the norm the transitions are usually a facet of industry optimizing media popularityvs cost and cost recovery

personally i have had my pc running my lounge TV as a second monitor ever since PCs had hdmi capability. So gaming on pc whilst lounging is totally doable. In saying that at present I have a xbox og, 360, onex and a serries x all set up atm on my loung TV :)

Xbox console is already a Windows core with a translation layer. It's not magic to license out the operating system for OEM PCs under strict hardware requirements. in Fact, not only could they just run Xbox on full Windows with a modified translation layer on x86 PCs, but They could also easily allow this translation layer on Arm, specifically the Snapdragon elite chips.

I'd love a hybrid console. but it needs a 8tb hard drive if they want us to use to download.

Id just like a modular xbox thay i can buy cheap and upgrade over time like a framework laptop.

I think the biggest leap might mean AI not necessarily Graphics, maybe next generation you could talk to NPC using a mic and they can respond to you in any way because it not scripted instead using AI for all the characters.

What I would like to see, as a PC Gamer, is all games going forward supporting Keyboard / Mouse input. I've been playing keyboard/mouse since the 90's. I am too old to learn to use a controller. I suck with a controller, so I really do not play a lot of games on my Xbox. If more games supported Keyboard/Mouse, I would purchase and play a lot more!

Xbox needs to be his own thing without windows and without cloud gaming. To be a true Xbox consoles. I believe that was a whole idea in the beginning it should be in the future to come.

I don’t think I’m going to upgrade my Xbox anymore cuz they just don’t deliver like they used to, whereas the PlayStation has had my sole attention for a while now. And I’m new to the PlayStation platform…. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Xbox but I just haven’t had any interest to play it anymore. Xbox needs to actually deliver a great console that does what the promise it does

Put a keyboard, hand rest, and a built in monitor, and bam, with PC dashboards compatible with back compat emulators and the best visual quality touch screen, controllers, and maybe a back stand on the screen, and everyone will want one.

If Asus or whoever does it. I want them to come out with the Ultimate Xbox that plays All Four/Five Generations of Xbox on one console on disc. Don't care if it upscales the resolution or not. I would pay $1,200 for it easily.

I think the blueprint for the OS on this kind of system would be a spin on Windows 8.1 with the big tiles. Personally I don’t think we need new consoles as I don’t think Xbox series or PS5 have been pushed to their limits.

I'm not sure why they aren't doing this but they should only like have new games made for older consoles for like 5 years or less if they have a newer current system to convince others to upgrade hence probably their problems with people purchasing the current systems or maybe support and update the older systems for 5 or less years something to encourage getting the newest consoles of the time tbh idk how long since the series s and x came out but they should definitely after it came out give the older consoles 5 years or less afterwards to stop supporting/updating/making new games for older consoles than the current

I left the series X for a PC and I’m never looking back….i recently upgraded from my initial pre built to a 4090 with an intel 13700K liquid cooled with a 360mm aio from deepcool. I recently played uncharted in 4K on a 4K monitor with the render scale almost maxxed out and all I can say is wow……..80-90 fps eith a refresh rate of 144hz….I don’t think I’ll ever mess about with a console again…i never knew games could look like this with such high frames…I probably ran through 3 Xbox’s and 2 PlayStations either because they died or it was time to upgrade…id rather just replace a component instead of the whole platform…PC for life 🤷🏾‍♂️

okay I'm a PlayStation guy but I would be an Xbox if it had a hybrid Xbox windows OS, like it having different game stores like the epic games store, steam etc.

It feels like XSX and PS5 just came out because there are only a couple decent exclusives available for each. I don't own any XSX games, just Retroarch running offline in retail mode and a few backwards compatibile games. I own TWO PS5 games, FFXIV and FF7 Rebirth. These big companies simply don't have good games anymore, absolutely no variety in the first party stuff like back in the 90s and early 00s. And seriously, I feel like I only bought new consoles to play old games and remakes of old games.

This would defeat the purpose of a console if other manufacturers can make their own hardware it would create hell for developers to target specific fps targets on 20 different consoles at that point its just a pc with gimped OS. Honestly their probably scared of Valve once they do full release of SteamOS from steamdeck that any manufacturer can use.

To be fair from what I've experienced the series s was a lot easier to find than the Series x for about two yrs. I didn't see a series x till about 2yrs after launch and I'd probably see a series s once or twice every 2-3 months in stores.

i wish Xbox had made the jump to to PC/hybrid long ago. An affordable entry level pc that will last a about 5 years

9:16 I don't think the Series S outselling the X had anything to do with anyone not caring about graphics or the extra 250. Everyone I know that bought a Series S myself included did so simply because there were no series X consoles.

I been playing Xbox since I was able to hold the controller; I’ve also had a PlayStation and choice as an adult to have an Xbox but they are making it really hard to stay on Xbox because of game exclusivity and not much option, metal gear for instance, I keep hearing eventually it’s going exclusive to PlayStation, but why is Xbox not trying to hard enough to with get them to be exclusive to Xbox or keep it muti-platform

They already support those inputs, ask devs why they don't implement them. It's especially baffling with strategy games that really need a mouse to play anywhere near properly. At this stage it shouldn't matter what your choice of input device is on whatever platform you play on, they should all be supported. When it comes to FPS games I'm a filthy casual that only plays single player so a controller is fine and as I tend to play more racers a controller is required outside of using a wheel. For strategy I use only a mouse input.
